- Everything. From the location, the facilities, to the staff and owners, Malia Mare is the best hotel. 7th stay in 4 years and first and only choice when in Malia.
- had the best stay at the family run Malia Mare Hotel in Crete, Greece. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and quiet, and they were cleaned efficiency daily. The hotel breakfast provided a wide range of dishes to choose from that catered to British as well as European, NZ/Australian tastes - as well as local dishes. The pool area was a fantastic place to relax the day away while the staff provided a large range of very tasty food and drink options at the pool bar.The best part of the stay was the family and staff that ran the hotel. They were extremely accommodating, more than happy to assist you with your stay, and cared about their guests. I was very impressed. It was a real joy to stay in a family run hotel that didn't treat you as a number. The hotel is 3-star, so it is not the most modern with all the bells and whistles. However, the great rooms, hotel facilities and most of all the wonderful staff makes it a Real Gem as well as great value for money.
- It’s a clean hotel not too far from the city center.
Cons -
- Perfect place
- Shower is small
- Apart from no A/C, no TV, no hairdryer, no working safe- guests mostly. At 3 am a bunch of Dutch girls decided it’s a great idea to start singing on the balcony while finishing a bottle. A/C has to be switched on using remote, which I wasn’t provided, so obv the balcony door was open, so I get to enjoy their lovely voices. At 5 am British girl upstairs got completely hysterical , shouting at the top of her voice and smashing glass bottles against the wall. Took her at least an hour to calm down and fall asleep.then in the morning, someone was smoking in their room, so there was a fire alarm for at least 30 mins. That was on 21-22.09.2024, not even in the midst of summer. my suggestion-stay away if you can. Even if they pay you to stay.

Very good and quiet location either for party people or a nice family vacation. Very friendly staff. A big plus is a pool!!
Nothing to complain
Bad
Hello , i have sent u multiple times that i haven’t been more than 2 hours in the hotel but i forgot to tap cancel on the app .So i’m asking u to return the money please ??, or half the price because the boss of the hotel already write in the app that we didn’t stay in the hotel and to return my money . So please help thank u??
The staff at the reception and the pool were very kind. The pool is very relaxing and they have an extensive menu of drinks and food you can order.
Wifi didn't work and the breakfast wasn't very nice.
very close to the strip about a 2 minute walk and a 10 minute walk to the beach
the shower was dirty
Extra location in city centre also close to the beach, very clean room, bathroom, very nice balcony and extra swimming pool with a bar.
The facilities were excellent but we stayed in the deluxe rooms so can’t comment on the others, the location was excellent, the pool area was beautiful and relaxing, everything was clean and well maintained, the staff which were all family couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, would highly recommend this fantastic hotel
nothing!
perfectly positioned for the strip in one direction and the old town in the other, so you were close to the nightlife but also could go into the old town where it was very pretty and a bit more laid back. Also close to the beach. The pool was great, most of the time we were the only people in it! so always plenty of sunloungers
Location is strategic between new and old Malia, with many convenient store close by. Considering the hotel is on the strip, we were surprised to find that the rooms were acoustically insulated to a very comfortable degree.
We were incredibly disappointed upon finding out that an agreement and request that had been previously communicated with the owners and APPROVED was not going to be respected upon our arrival; A month before our booking, we asked if one of the rooms could have a shortened stay as the occupants had to leave a day before and we request a partial refund of the total since they were leaving a day early. Malia Mare's co-manager Kostas said yes, that it would be possible. Low and behold, the couple's final day there was met with a resounding no from the manager and Kostas and we were told to contact Booking.com. Booking.com said it was the hotel's responsibility and the hotel said it was Booking's, I was contacted by Booking.com and was told that they contact the hotel, to no avail. Incredibly disappointed, and was left with a bad taste for the trip.
Nice family hotel in the center of Malia - great breakfast.
No hot water in the shower the first night
Wonderful staff (thank you Maria and everyone else). The nicest room and most comfortable bed we have ever experienced.Fantastic facilities – breakfast, pool and pool snack-bar.A better base for exploring the old town rather than the beaches/strip (but that's a comment on my advancing years).
Would have been the icing on the cake if the property had its own dedicated parking (the on-road parking was safe, but sometimes ended up being a fair distance from the entrance).
it's a beautiful hotel, staff always there to inform us, a very nice clean swimming pool, I recommend
Location was amazing, couldn't fault it, The Staff are so helpful and really nice! The Room was very comfortable and a lovely little balcony too! I only stayed for one night so was definitely worth the money, i'm not sure it would have suited for a week or more.
The shower/bathroom.. The shower unit is tiny So it was very hard to shower without the shower curtain sticking to me and absolutely flooding the place in the process!
Great familiar atmosphere. Costas and Maria are friendly and helpful, really felt like home!Hotel is really quiet and the pool is awesome. Thanks again!!!
Nothing to complain about!
Maria and her brother were amazing with us, super attentive and helpful with good vibes!
The staff was really lovely, they helped us out each time they could!
For me personally, i got kind of sick of the room after 7 days. The A/C only worked at full mode, or nor at all. The shower is really small.
That it was close to the center
Was a terrible experience. Firstly the room is tiny. The shower is so small you can not move. The breakfast was inedible so badly although it was included in the price we only had it on the first day and then chose to eat out.there is no television in the room. The beach is further than stated. But the thing that really upset us is we had to pay 25 Euro for a mark that they said wouldn’t come out of the sheet from a temporary tattoo, we felt this was absolutely unjustified. All in all it was a horrible experience
The location and pool bar.
