Pros +
- The staff were great ? Pool and sauna wonderful before dinner and after a long drive. Dinner (3 course) and breakfast was good . Conveniently located off 134 and good parking.
- the lady receptionist in the evening was very nice and helpful--even she offered to saved dinner in case we arrived late so wonderful
- The hotel’s surrounding area are absolutely beautiful, with breathtaking views. The staff were welcoming and friendly.
Cons -
- room bit small but overall OK
- The interior of the hotel feels outdated, and the room was stuffy with an unpleasant smell. The curtains were just three narrow panels that didn’t cover the window properly, so it was impossible to block out the daylight. Overall, the stay was disappointing.
- In the bathroom, there was a pipe coming out from under the bathtub to connect to the drain on the floor! As if that sloppy finish wasn’t enough, it didn’t work properly, and after a bath, water spread all over the bathroom. One of us didn’t even take a bath… Disgusting. Breakfast was another disaster; they didn’t refill the buffet, so there was no bread (only crackers) or other basic items. We had breakfast at 8:30, not exactly at the end of the service. All this for a room where we paid €341 for one night… Ridiculously expensive for such poor quality.

Cozy hotel, nice location, great pool and sauna, excellent restaurant (breakfast and dinner), spacious parking with available EV chargers.

Good bed, good breakfast. Nice staff.
????
Lovely surroundings. The oil was nice. Good food. Interesting museum next door
One of the best hotel we stayed in during our road trip in Norway. Beautiful scenery. Little family hotel with all the comfort. Breakfast and dinner awesome. I would come back and stay there a bit longer especially in Winter would be great…
Clean, very comfortable, pet-friendly, great location, big interior pool and jacuzzi, good breakfast, good wifi, good parking, great service, and good restaurant: perfect!
Everything was perfect!
The cleanliness, the ambience, the free parking and the breakfast.
The dinnerbuffet was excellent.
The bathroom was terrible, the doors of the bedrooms cheap and horrible. The big lounge/bar area not nice and the elevators terrible inside
Breakfast good and dinner buffet was great.
For older people it is a bit long to be on top (5th) floor. 2 elevators and long walk. Were not guided to the elevator.Otherwise really liked our stay.
Hotel is located in very calm area, surrounded by gorgeous Norwegian wild forests. We have been here out of the main season, thanks to that hotel was pretty empty. For a special attention hotel restaurant deserves. Both breakfasts and dinners are prepared on the highest level. Breakfast is very diverse and beautifully served. You will definitely find something for yourself. For dinner we can have very limited number of dishes but those are amazing. I think it is advantage, because it makes you sure they are made of fresh ingredients. For a special attention deserves the waiter (bald man with a beard and huge muscles ?). He was very talkative and helpful and professional ??. (He definitely deserves pay raise ?) we felt really taken care of.
We stayed over Easter and enjoyed taking snow shoes (trygge) walks just a stone’s throw from the property. The staff were friendly and helpful and provided us with a paper map to Håtveitgrendi. Høydalsmo offers great ski tracks just 10 minutes’ drive from the hotel (if you use JPS, go for Høydalsmo barnehage or skule for a stress-free ride). Otherwise pretty much everything was closed during our stay, including Ski Adventure, located on the property. It’s really beyond my comprehension why on earth a ski museum would be closed in winter, only to be re-opened in May. Also the Olympic flame was only visible in the dark. The hotel’s restaurant was the only place to have dinner, since all the cafés and small taverns were closed for the season. Dinners were tasty, even though they followed a strict pattern of main courses. However, with just two days’ stay, it wasn’t a big issue. I loved taking a swim in the swimming pool before breakfast, which was a sensational experience with the view of snow-covered fields and hill tops outside. Unfortunately, sauna was hot just on the arrival day. The two following days, I made do with just swimming in the pool.
We stayed at superior suite and there was enough space for a family of three and a dog. There were some small nuisances, however. There were no bath robes, even though they were mentioned in the room description. We had candles, but the gas-lighter didn’t work. I put the sign “please, clean my room”, but the room service didn’t arrive. Even to change the towels.I didn’t bother to report these “accidents” to the reception. I wish I mentioned sauna, however.
Nice Hotel with friendly staff, clean room and a very good breakfast! Pool and Sauna are fine as well
Rich breakfast, clean room, hiking trails, friendly staff
Loved the staff and the food very much!Tommy was an excellent front reception Host! He was so good at his job and made us feel so welcome and appreciated. ?
I can't think of anything at all! The staff throughout the facility were great and the cleanliness and the great food was a cherry on top!
Fantastic breakfast, good facilities, comfortable room.
Bathroom was quite old and shower was leaking from the side as it was not attached to the wall.
What a gem of a find! This is a wonderful, classic hotel with lots of old-school charm. My family (young children) and I loved our stay - fantastic staff, wonderful pool, breakfast, and our room was so spacious. My kids loved the playground and zipline. Quite the memorable stay and we hope to be back one day!
the room is old style, needs restoration. the glass and windows are old and not soundproofed, it gets cold. the food at the restaurant is 80's style and expensive. the staff is unprepared.
