Pros +
- unique experience with the glass roof and interior designextensive and high quality dinner buffetseveral onsite and offsite program offers like huskey sledging, reindeers, sauna seance, etc. (but I found these very touristic and pricey)
- The place is magical, the outdoors activities are amazing.Campfire and husky sleigh tour were amazing.
- Lovely and friendly staff, great buffet included. Beautiful location.
Cons -
- it was quite surprizing that the cottage bookings do not include sauna access, instead private sauna sessions can be booked for $$breakfast buffet could be varied a bit more (it was very good, but everyday the same)
- Nothing was bad in my stay, but if the only thing I can say is that Unluckily the campfire activity wasn' t long enough (9pm departure from the village, arrival at Nellim at 10.20, stayed in the tent until 11.30 and back to the village at 1am) to see any northern lights as the days are getting longer,it was cloudy and we had the sunset lights until midnight, making it difficult to see anything. But the tour guide was very entertaining and very knowledgeable (Katie) and she gave us a very good story of the Finnish history and the Russian boarder history. Of course the weather is not to be blamed to the tour guide! Luckily we got to see the northern lights in Saariselka on Saturday night when it snowed for almost all the evening and the lights appeared in the sky at 1.30am ❤️
- Unable to drive vehicle to room to drop bags and are charged 5 euro per person for the accommodation to take care of it for you. Packaged breakfast boxes are very average.

Absolutely delicious dinner! Breakfast not quite as fantastic, but still very good (morning shift staff Butz and May were amazing!); the cabin is so cozy and well equipped (panoramic window and views to the forest were magical); excursion options were varied and started from the hotel - lead guide Abraham as well as guide Pedro were super supportive! And yes, Northern lights were visible as well (hotel’s aurora alarm is accurate)!
I stayed in a cabin on the last row which was quiet and less light polution, a perfect spot for night photography. It has an amazing view of the forest. Inside the cabin was clean, warm and cozy. It contained everything you need. The dinner buffet was also nice. Every staff was attentive and friendly. It is a short distance walk from the center and bus stop. Overall, it was my amazing experience and 100% worth the money.
Nothing. Everything was perfect. Thank you very much.
One of the most amazing places I have stay! Beautiful nature around and many activities!! Also the stuff was amazing, especially Yiannis, Alexandros and Linda! My kid cried when we checked out and she wants to come back next year!
Everything was great. Especially the rooms and activities were very good. It was fascinating to see the aurora lights from our room. All the staff were very helpful throughout our stay. Especially our Greek neighbors Alexandre from the restaurant, Alexandre from Aurora Camp and the Hungarian lady from whose name we forgot were very helpful. We were satisfied with all the activities, all of them were very enjoyable. The food was delicious but the variety was limited, it could have been better in this regard. It is also an advantage that it is 20-25 minutes away from the airport. You can walk to Sariselka nearby and visit. Thank you for everything.
This is a much better Northern Light hotel compare to the one at Levi. Love the room layout, bed is comfortable, come with curtain, lotion, bath-rope, slippers. Breakfast choices are much better than the one at Levi. Love the surroundings.One negative. The street light is too bright and right in front of our glass window view. ☹️
We travelled with our two sons (7 & 4) and stayed 2 nights. The yurt/cabin was fantastic (cozy but still plenty of room for the 4 of us) and we got to see the Northern Lights our first night (second night was too cloudy)! It was incredible! We did the Husky Safari one day which was fantastic - everyone loved it and I would highly recommend! The second day our oldest son did the kids snowmobile experience which he enjoyed and mom/4 year old did the Reindeer experience (1.5 hours). It was perfect. We learned about the reindeer, got to go on a sleigh ride, and got to feed them at the end! Although my son was a bit disappointed that the sleigh didn’t fly and he didn’t get to meet Santa ? The food was good quality and they had something for everyone’s taste - including a kids menu. We had a wonderful time and would recommend to friends/family!
Amazon location, great rooms/iglos
Coffee was not good and sauna you had to pay for 1 hour slot
Everything was perfect. While the room temperature in other hotels we stayed in in Lapland was fixed at 20 degrees, here we were able to adjust it as we wanted. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. When you enter the hotel, you can arrange all the activities with the help of the staff. Seeing the northern lights was amazing!!! It was very enjoyable and easy to walk from the bungalows to the restaurant, to the deers and the huskies.
They have combined the single beds, it can sometimes feel uncomfortable for two people to sleep in it, it's as if the beds are going to be separated :)
Transparent window above the bed !
Room is too small, if I open my suitcase and my husband too there are barely space for us to walk
I really can't find words that accurately describe the wonderful stay I had at NLV ??The staff was very friendly... from the guy who picked me up to take me to the hotel to those who served me at the hotel, the restaurant and the activity guides.The room is a dream...a wonderful aurora cabin, with incredible views and a magical atmosphere...I got cabin #1...it's quite far from the center of the village, but it's the best, because you have the whole forest to yourself. The cabin is small but has everything essential for a comfortable stay.Clean bathroom with shower and hot water!Large and comfortable bed to rest and heating to keep you warm.Living room, refrigerator with mini bar to spend free time.The restaurant hall is very large, the food delicious and lots of variety.I booked reindeer sledding, husky sledding, cross country skiing, snowmobile and aurora camp by the lake...all activities were excellent.Even if you don't book any activities, it's an excellent village to relax and experience the real winter in Finnish Lapland.I hope one day I can go back to NLV ??
The aurora camp by the lake activity can be boring for adults if there are no auroras, as happened to me...so it is better to check the possibilities of seeing auroras before doing it. Although it is a natural phenomenon, they have an app that allow monitoring the activity of auroras.
Wonderful Aurora Cabin, cozy warm with amazing Northern lights view out of bed; nice staff; sauna and cold plunge were great, booked adventures were a lot of fun! Pick-up and drop-off from/at the airport was very convenient;
smell in the bathroom (from the canal), but staff was very helping; little vegan options at breakfast (e.g. no hummus, no avocado, no soy joghurt...); price for the 1h session was very high and 1h is a bit too little time to enjoy properly;
We really enjoyed how amicable the staff was. The food at buffet was great too, the selection was not huge but satisfactory and the quality and taste was amazing. We also liked having the activities right at the resort. We particularly loved the husky experience (10km). Aurora alert app provided by NLV was super handy as it alerted all the guests when a live camera spots aurora in the sky. We were lucky and saw it on our 3rd night during dinner. Literally the entire restaurant emptied out as everyone got the alert. I don't think we would have had a clue otherwise as it was quite a faint one.
We were visiting Lapland for only 3nights/ 4 days and wanted to increase our chance of spotting the aurora hence booked at NLV Aurora cabin. As much as it is a novel experience and cabins are quite well designed (besides nowhere to dry towels or clothes) when traveling as a family I would not recommend any more than 3 nights as the cabins are small. We also didn't realise you have to pay for the use of sauna (100EUR per hour session). The upside of that is that you get to use it privately.Otherwise everything else was great.
Fantastic location, deeply immersed into nature. Cosy igloos from which to admire the wonderful Northern sky. Good quality food buffet. Broad offering of winter activities, in particular the Snowmobile safari and the Aurora camp by the lake - both are truly unique experiences. Friendly and well organised service. Would love to back!
Space in the igloo is just about ok for a family, but doesn't detract from the experience.
Spectacular glass cabins, great buffet menu, luxurious aesthetics and lots of activities. Warm staff added to the overall experience
That it was so sold out that we could only get 1 night reservation
A truly memorable experience for us. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights and had so much fun snowshoeing with our guide, Erica. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful throughout and food, although buffet style, was really exceptional. You do have to pay extra for the activities but they are worth it. I recommend the husky Safari and sauna. The snowmobile was my least favourite, as you travel quite slowly in convoy and the petrol fumes can’t be ignored. However, you do get to enjoy the beautiful landscape.
What tips the scale for me usually when I stay in a hotel or resort is the service. Very professional, polite and friendly. I was allowed to check in a few hours early (no extra charge) and even though I (unintentionally) checked out almost an hour late, they remained friendly and smiling. The cabins are amazing, a lot of privacy despite them being nearby each other, heated floors, and of course the glass roof. I was so satisfied with everything. Food was great, got to try so many local dishes and there were so many options with balance of nutrition. Nothing bad to say.
Nothing. It was 10/10
The way in which staff interacted and engaged with my children during the snow mobiling experience.
Charging for pick-up from Saarisalka town when complimentary pick-up for activities.
