Pros +
- A restored villa with a genteel ambience. A large patio with a commanding view of the Mani towns and olive groves. An excellent base for exploring the deep Mani. Delicious al fresco breakfast and a helpful host and staff.
- The location is very remote and quiet with eclectic decor. Plenty of hot water
- This is a small intimate hotel with a few rooms and wonderfully warm, welcoming, helpful owners and staff. With gorgeous Autumn weather we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner outside in the courtyard. The breakfasts are generous and full of local and homemade specialities. Dinner and house wine were also excellent. We hope we get chance to return.
Cons -
- Steep stairs and cobblestones could be a problem for mobility impaired.
- In the room, however, as decoration, 1940 newspapers about war against Italy, obviously full of hatred to italians. It's not what you expect on your night table on holiday.
- The hotel is situated up a fairly steep hill and the paving slabs in the courtyard were tricky to walk over so if someone had a mobility problem they would have to be careful. As our tower room was on the upper level there were uneven steps to it which might benefit from an additional hand rail all the way up.

The setting was incredible. Very quiet and peaceful at night with spectacular views during the day. The hosts were very welcoming and gave us plenty of advice for where to go on day trips, or where to look for a good meal in the evening. The room was unique, charming and well appointed. The breakfast was an absolute highlight. All made in house with very fresh ingredients, it’s worth staying here for that alone.
Location, free upgrade in a lovely room

We enjoyed our stay very much. Zaira and the staff did their best to make us feel welcome and settled.Rooms were spacious and clean. The feeling of comfort and relaxation that the ambience creates will make this property fast one of your favorites.
Mani is stunning, close to many beautiful villages like Limeni and beaches like Marmari, as well as caves etc. We liked the relaxed atmosphere, the quietness and peace. Food is delicious, staff are caring and practical.
A beautiful setting for having breakfast and dinner in the courtyard. Lovely room in a restored tower in Mani area. Family run with attentive personal service and knowledge to help guests get the most out of visiting this area. Food was often homemade and local with amazing breakfast platters and an extensive wine list. It felt like a unique experience and we loved the rustic charm of it all.

a beautiful place lovely hosts great food wine very pretty
there isn’t a taverna to walk to eat a pool to swim in would be good
This hotel blends the old with all the comforts of the modern world. The Mani towers were a revelation to us but they have been enhanced by a contemporary twist. Zaira and her parents could not have been kinder. My wife was unwell when we arrived but left fully restored. Thank you!
Everything was perfect!
Delicious breakfast with home made produce. A lot of care is taken and very willing to cater to your preferences.
Nothing! It was all amazing!
Accomodation in the old tower is perfect. Very friendly staff. Quiet and natural atmosphere. Recommended!
A unique experience to stay in a traditional Mani tower house, with perfect balance of privacy and personal attention by kind and welcoming hosts. Delicious and beautifully presented breakfast provided each morning and (optional) dinner, using locally sourced ingredients and range of wines from an extensive cellar. Our hosts were very helpful in providing guidance for touring the surrounding area and beaches, including the local history and culture. The location is not for those seeking a beach or harbourside stay, waking up to see the sea (all of which are only 5 minutes drive away). This is what sets it apart from other places and delivers more over a stay of at least a few days. Ideal for a slow paced holiday.
We can't say enough good things about Citta dei Nicliani. It is a beautiful historic space run by the most wonderful family. The breakfast was delicious and so were the two dinners we enjoyed there. The attention to detail in both our room and the rest of the spaces in general was just incredible. This is clearly a labor of love for the family. An added bonus was that we are vegetarian and it's clear they are making a real effort to accommodate people with plant-based diets. That along with the fact that they are obviously animal lovers made us feel right at home! A dog and several cats provided endless entertainment during our stay.
We have nothing negative to say at all!
Our stay in Citta dei Nicliani was incredibly nice. It is a very well located hotel with exquisite taste and really nice views. Not only is the staff amazingly nice but they are also extremely attentive to the guest’s needs. Overall, it is a highly recommendable hotel as it offers and ensures guests an amazing stay. I personally recommend for you to stay and have dinner one night since the homemade food is delicious.
This small hotel is a little jewel. The accommodation is exceptional with great thought given to the small details. The family who run it are delightful and incredibly welcoming. The food is delicious. Weloved our stay and will definitely booking to return. Thank you.
The hotel is beautiful and so peaceful. The food is incredible, both breakfast and dinner. The hotel is the perfect location to explore the Mani peninsula and we also enjoyed relaxing at the hotel and taking a refreshing dip. The family who own the hotel are very happy to help and gave us lots of tips for our time in Mani. We highly recommend this hotel and we home to return in the future.
Nothing, everything was perfect.
Beautifully old house, restaurated with a lot of taste, situated in a small village on a hill. Beautiful garden/terrace overlooking the valley. Very relaxing environment.
Wonderful welcome, such friendly, helpful hosts with great ideas for local places to visit and a genuine interest in spending time to chat. The setting is stunning and breakfast was superb. A beautiful place for a sunset dinner too.
Beautifully presented individually styled rooms in a very peaceful setting. The owners provide a personalised service to their guests throughout their stay.
