Pros +
- Super nice family run hotel. The owners know their business and guest needs as they have run the place for 7 generations and you feel this at every corner of the hotel. Rooms are very spacious and comfy. The same for really BIG and comfy beds. The internet coverage and speed is great. Breakfast very good and with ample choice and scramble egg is really well made and tasty.
- It was clean
- Very good breakfast, excellent dinner and wines, both taken on their very nice terrace. We were given an attractive balcony room, more a little suite, with great character.Great location, station and excellent open air swimming pool all walking distance.
Cons -
- I would only like that the fullness of my hapiness I would need a kettle to make tea/coffee in the room.
- I didn’t got an invoice even if I asked about it and gives all details before I arrived. I need to have it for my company. And I got for my name and country that wasn’t even my nationality ?? that said that booking should give me the invoice as I pay there not to the hotel,… it was first time in my life that I didn’t got an invoice from a hotel,…
- It was exceptionally hot and humid, so maybe some aircon would have been good, but I can understand that it might not be worth it for the short period it would be needed; Wi-Fi dropped off sometimes, but these are very minor issues.

Location
Wifi is not good in my room and pretty loud for room near the street
Location, friendly staff and very comfortable
Lots of character in a great location. Very friendly family run hotel.
It would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room with some herbal teas rather than having to go down to the bar to ask.
Beautiful country hotel with very friendly staff. The room was comfortable and the restaurant was good. Breakfast was tasty.

From check-in to check-out everything went smoothly. Breakfast was amazing and the variety of breads, meats, and cheeses were delicious!! Our interaction with staff was met with friendliness and all were extrememly helpful. We will definitely stay here again.
Location is ok, in the middle of the village just outside Freiburg
We booked a room for 2 nights with a king bed as presented on booking.com and had the surprise of receiving a bed with 2 (two) mattresses. We came down to reception and complained that we booked a king size bed and wanted to use a room with a king size bed and king size mattress as booked and confirmed. We got surprised with the answers! The lady at reception (might be the owner or a senior employee of the hotel) replied that all rooms are with 2 mattresses and that with 2 mattresses it is a king size bed! Then she also replied that if we did not like the room, we could leave next morning without being charged the second night! For the "hotelier" I am, if the hotel confirms a room type and can not offer the room confirmed, it is up to the hotel to find a solution, to assume the cost of the relocation if there is place and reason to do a relocation, or to give a compensation! After reflection we decide to stay the 2 nights, as it was too late to find a room in the area for the same budget, not to mention the inconvenience of unpacking and packing our belongings every night for a 2 night stay. This issue almost ruined what was supposed to be a romantic winter weekend in the Black Forest. On the first morning we came for breakfast at 9:30 and found a crowded breakfast room and an empty buffet... some bread, dried scrambled eggs, cereal and cold cuts, but no Danish pastries or croissants or even sausages and bacon. We discovered next morning that besides scrambled eggs, a hot breakfast and croissants/Danish pastries are not standard in this hotel! We did not even complain about it as the experience at arrival just told us to pay go away!To sum up, this stay told us important lessons: unless if we have good references, not to book outside hotels where there are standards of service and equipment to be respected. We won't book this hotel again!
the purpose of this trip was to celebrate my wife’s birthday! i was less than impressed. the general appearance could be cleaner. and it’s the first time in my longtime international travel to encounter multiple sneakers, tennis shoes and shoes standing in the hallways outside rooms in what was supposed to be a nice hotel. overall it’s overpriced for what it claims to be, same with the restaurant, it could have excellent quality to match the prices. but the bottle of wine served was excellent.
Colourful and friendly. Great breakfast and helpful staff.
We had to wait 45 mins at the table for our evening meal.
Poor
There was NO WiFi, the weather was very hot and the room was so warm, they didn't have a fan. Breakfast was good. There was no restaurant or bar it was closed
Location, cleaning,breakfast were great
There wasn't air conditioning in the suite. We couldn't sleep at nights. It was very hot inside
Hotel is perfect especially for families with children. The suite was spacious, very clean and seems newly renovated. our experience was completely different, staying in a family owned & operated hotel in a beautiful suburban town 10 mins away from Freiburg city center and sleeping with our windows open feeling the nice cool weather at night. Even though the rooms are renovated but you can still sense the authenticity of the place. The staff were amazing, very helpful, caring and tentative, they made our stay extra special.
Absolutely noting, but If I would say one thing would be the no lift in the property but it’s just 2 stories high.
We stayed in a suite - it was clean, comfortable, and the bathroom was much more spacious than I'd anticipated. We were only there for a short time during our wedding weekend, but I was happy to enjoy the nice bathtub and relax during one of our evenings. A few of our friends and family also booked here and all enjoyed their unique rooms. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options, and the location was convenient and beautiful. The children's bed we'd asked for wasn't in our room when we first arrived, but when we brought it to their attention they immediately sent one up.
Good breakfast. Helpful Staff. Excellent location. Free parking nearby. Quiet.
Lady serving was very service minded and nice.clean dining room.
Hotelroom the floor was squeaky
cleanliness, contact with the owners, location, orientation of the room with balcony. breakfast and dinner were of high quality.
weak or absent internet on terrace of restaurant in front of the hotel. only MTB ebikes can be rent, no normal ebikes.
The breakfast was excellent! Fresh ingredients and a great selection and presentation. We also got our dinner brought to the room where we felt really at home. The staff made us feel very special and the stay was a real treat.
Everything was fantastic, nothing that I'd change. We will certainly stay here again if we are travelling in the area.
Cute hotel with Sauna at the city center Kirchzarten. Easy access (30 min) to skiing areas.
The restaurant is a overpriced for the service and food quality. The breakfast options are limited.
