Pros +
- Hotel Spinnerhof exudes Black Forest charm, with a modern touch. My family loved the ambience of the hotel and the setting, including the Schnappsbrunnen, Church, and the tree house. Rooms in the new building seem to be designed to be accessible with wide hallways and curbless entry, including an elevator which was a nice surprise. were in town for the gluten free Christmas Market and they offered a wide range of gluten free options on a separate table at breakfast. I am not sure if that is a year round feature, or only during the special market. We will definitely be back and understand why it is a wedding and event venue. Seems like a wonderful option year round.
- Beautiful hotel in the Black Forest. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and the views were outstanding!
- Absolutely wonderful location, very recent hotel with a gorgeous view on the valley in my case
Cons -
- Oddly, there is a clear window so you can see into the bathroom from the bedroom. This is uncomfortable and completely unnecessary. If it is an accessibility feature, then there should be a shade or other option to block the view.
- The room could really use a kettle, with coffees and teas, rather than being charged for a cup of tea each time at the restaurant.
- A staff member, cook, was above our room [despite us requesting a room on the top floor with no one above us] and was noisy until after midnight when we finally banged backed. The desk person said he would reimburse that night to my face but lied in an email and only gave us a 10% credit. We did not stay the 2 nights because of this horrible experience, and we're not refunded for either night. The photos are misleading, and a 'forest' view is really a parking lot and drop-off view. They will then charge you 20€ for the 'city' view and 8€ if you park in the empty covered parking below the property.

The hotel is lovely. The food at the restaurant is so good! It was hot, but the room was nice and cool. The location is convenient if you want to hike the Schnappsbrunnenweg. There’s a schnappsbrunnen in the back of the hotel, which is SO cute! We enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful location, easy parking, great breakfast buffet, lovely deck space.
I stayed here one night for a wedding. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and there was free parking available.
Lovely new room, beautiful views, great breakfast, very helpful staff.
The room could really use a kettle, with coffees and teas, rather than being charged for a cup of tea each time at the restaurant.
Breakfast, location, staff, on-site restaurant, schnapps...what was there not to like?
The room was very clean.

Great location, with a fantastic view! The schnapps fountain was an added bonus for the end of the night.
Some areas felt a little outdated but I'm aware they are currently building a new section of the hotel!
The location and the vista was super. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very nice.
Nothing really. Everything was to our expectations or above.
Location ambience staff excellent as usual
Could not stay longer
Beautiful rooms with high quality finishes. Nice staff and excellent food. The views are amazing.
They offer breathtaking views and convenient access to Mummelsee. The rooms are impeccably clean. Staffs are outstanding. Hotel's restaurant offers a culinary experience, breakfast buffet was particularly impressive. This hotel is a real gem.
We loved the beautiful location. The food for dinner and breakfast was delicious. It was very clean.
The beds were not the most comfortable, but the room was spacious. The restaurant seemed short staffed at dinner.
The views from the room was very good. The hotel had a dinner place in the premise which was very good. The breakfast was also decent. A bus station was located very close to the hotel.
Pretty much loved everything. Would like to come back.
Its a very nice location and overall the hotel had a nice traditional feel. The restaurant was very nice and the food was good overall. The room was satisfactorily clean. The drive to the hotel was pleasant. Very low price so reasonable value for money.
Quite a few things negatively impacted my stay. First was the construction work going on at the hotel. I was not made aware of this when booking. It did not really disrupt my stay but it made for a poor impression when first arriving at the hotel. Secondly as I was travelling on business I needed an iron and ironing board to iron some shirts. There is no phone system in this hotel so had to walk back to reception in the rain to ask for these. Only to find that they had none and had no laundry facilities at all. Had I known this in advance I would have chosen different accommodation. No phone system. No adequate charging/power facilities in the room. Had to unplug a bedside lamp to plug my phone in to charge. An actual key on a rope attached to a bulky lump of wood to access the room. The curtains on the windows we're not long enough so there were gaps at the bottom so privacy was an issue. The bed was not comfortable. Wooden framed and creaky. Pillows were small and uncomfortable. The bathroom was too small to use practically but was well appointed. Also they do not take payment online and require payment at checkout. The morning I had to leave at 6:30am to catch a flight and there was no staff working at reception. So I just had to leave my room key on the desk and leave. I then got chased via email to make a manual bank payment. Not a good system. I do not regret staying at this hotel but unless there was significant improvement to the comfort of the room and modernisation to include basic room features like adequate power/charging facilities, I would not return.
Breakfast was great. Lovely walking paths more or less 100m from the hotel which connect to lots of very interesting places. I would also say visit the beautiful little gem just above the hotel - the "Friedenskapelle St Katarina" - for me it's a very special place.
No negatives from my side!!
The staff was very friendly, the location is fabulous and the view was breathtaking. What was also very good arranged was the warm room upon arrival. We even got an upgrade of the room for the same price. We had a balcony and could see the city and during the night when it was dark and the lights were on, it was like a fairy tale, so romantic ...
The isolation of the walls isn't at a top level because we could hear the neighbours in the room against our room while we only shared the wall of the bathroom and the door of the bathroom we kept close.
Super Location, great view, friendly staff, top food.
TV in the room can be a bit bigger
