Hotel Rätia

Room was basic but clean; Location was perfect for my purposes.

Outside lighting at the entrance was poor; I would not recommend a room in this part of the hotel for a woman travelling alone.

Had the single room with shared, external bathroom. Room was functional, clean. It had a washbasin and the single bed was suitably comfortable. Slight downside is that the external bathroom was on the floor below my room - so using the toilet or shower meant leaving the room, going down a flight of stairs to get to these.Staff were all very courteous and helpful. Made me feel welcome and valued as a customer.

Small friendly hotel. 2 minutes from train station. Restaurant in hotel.

Location was great on the road to Andermatt, so good for the Swiss passes. Room was fab, clean and tidy. Dinner was great.

Poor reception skills. No English either spoken or menu items. No a/c. Bed a straw mattress. All round disaster

Big, modern rooms with a good shower. The terrace restaurant and bar was perfect after a long day on the road! Great food! Good value buffet breakfast.

More secure motorcycle parking would have been good but it was right next to the hotel (just in an open car park).

Some accommodation was in an annexe that involved extra key security measures and walking outside to the breakfast room.

Ita basically attached to a parking and to a very noisy bar. You don’t feel like you have any privacy.The personnel at the check in didn’t even show us where our rooms were. Breakfast is very poor and kind of sad too.

Hotel was very noisy. There were restaurant patrons making a lot of noise past 2 AM right outside my window. At 6:30 AM management decided it was time to wake everyone up by emptying a barrel of glass bottles as noisily as possible.

Nice big room and bathroom. Friendly staff. Lovely terrace for having food and drinks. Close to restaurants.

It would be nice to have air conditioning or a fan in the room in summer as it’s very hot.

The towels provided in the room were completely wet on one side and had clear signs of having been used recently. I had to go around the hotel looking for fresh ones that I located in a storage and replaced myself since all the staff I interacted with declared to speak no language other than German, of which I had very limited knowledge, and couldn't assist with the issue I presented. The hairdryer only worked for 5 minutes before shutting off completely, and the part of the handle connecting to the engine was left broken. In terms of amenities, it might be relevant to point out that the hotel does not provide ironing boards and the rooms are not equipped with a kettle so for tea or coffee one should refer to the restaurant downstairs (where a cup of tea costs 4.5 CHF and cannot be brought into the rooms). Though not a fault of the hotel per se, some disrespectful guest managed to leave quite a mess (three times in less than 12 hours) in the one shared toilet serving the middle and upper floor, which contributed to the overall sense of discomfort of my stay. For reasons completely unbeknownst to me, the bell tower across the street rang every 15 minutes, for several minutes at a time, all night long without stopping. I had read about the bell in previous reviews but I must have missed the part about the 15 minute intervals. I'm not sure if this is a daily/nightly recurrence or if it was due to a special occasion, but it certainly didn't help with falling asleep. Similarly, the level-crossing barrier went down a few times during the night, sounding a very loud alarm for several minutes each time a commercial train was passing through. All in all, not a comfortable stay by a stretch but it might have been an unlucky night.

My room was in a separate building away from the main building that contained the reception lobby and dining/breakfast areas.

There's only 5 lots (yellow) for the hotel, all of them were occupied. Anyway, the staff said that the white parking was for free, and the ticket machine wasn't working in the evening, so I thought it was OK to park there overnight. I didn't want to ask the staff because he got angry for every little thing. Next morning I got parking fine! Should I stand up at 5 pm. in the morning to move the car or buy a parking ticket? This is the worst hotel I have ever seen in Switzerland!!!

Close to railway- and bus-station. Clean.
