Pros +

  • just too little....room, the view...
  • Good locations and staff
  • The communal areas are nice but the room is incredibly basic and run down. Hotel seemed more for business and is the only hotel I’ve been that actually charges for wifi and doesn’t provide a bottle of water to guests. Wouldn’t mind so much if it wasn’t quite so expensive

Cons -

  • 1. The internet connection was extremely unstable. It was very difficult to work.2. At checkout, they presented a bill for US$2,800, even though my booking was confirmed at €1,850. After an hour of discussion and showing them the Booking.com receipts, they agreed to lower the price.3. Restaurant with low quality level. The most disappointing aspect was their attitude and the initial attempt to overcharge by an additional US$500. The amount was gradually reduced to approximate the €1,850 originally agreed upon through Booking.com
  • Room was worn and old. Bed was hard
  • Hotel rooms need a big refurbishment. They are tired and outdated.Bathroom is horrible.

The hotel grounds are well kept, staff friendly and helpful. Lower your expectations as it's a good hotel for the area and the cost. It's well situated for local cafes/restaurants (next door a highlight). There is a gift shop on site and you are able to change money at the front desk. Walking into the grounds from the hustle and bustle of Honiara it feels like an oasis. You can walk to central market from the Hotel as well. Overall we would probably stay again.

During our stay there were various functions on site these often had live music but fortunately didn't go late. On our first night we waited 1.5 hours for our meals without any communication that it could be delayed this was due to a large function on. Some courtesy dishes were provided in leu (thank you) but after finishing it was hard to fit in our actual meals. Eating at the restaurant on the premises seemed expensive for the food available. The rooms are tired. They were always fresh and clean after house keeping came around. The towels smelt fresh but the rooms themselves have mould throughout and are run down and need revamp. My AC was making funny squeaky noises. Room had a musty smell and the toilet seat broken. We requested a portable cot multiple times and it never showed up. Final invoice was larger than quoted amount from Booking.com even after the 2.5% CC fees

Good location close to CBD & cafes. Spacious rooms

No water supplied in rooms. Restaurant food poor quality.

Nice quiet location on the waterfront. Spacious rooms that were clean but dated. Friendly helpful staff. Good cafe next door & other restaurants within easy walking distance.

Very average food at the restaurant. No bottled water provided in the room. Rooms are very dated & in need of a refurb.

Central location.

Disabled guest put in room uo three flights of steps, slippery in wet weather. Despite request to change, nothing happened. In-house Japanese restaurant was disappointing, overpriced. Noisy and boisterous wedding celebration on arrival took over all facilities and public areas. Guests came second.Booked airport transport didn't arrive. Two of us sharing a room, but with one key and one towel.

Never again!

The breakfast was terrible as the staff was not prepared to help with my sulphur allergy. I had to ask every morning to cover the raw onions. I paid 110 dollars and could only eat 10% of what was on the menu. When the facility had weddings, they forced you to eat at the Japanese restaurant which food I could not eat. Had to defer to room service and pay another 20 dollars extra. It was very noisy over the wedding weekends. Breakfast manager was very rude. Front house and cleaning staff was very friendly.

Staff across the hotel and in the restaurants are polite, friendly and helpful. Air-conditioning in the room works well, and the food in the Japanese restaurant in the hotel was good.great bento box!

The room is fine as a place to stay, but some of the rooms are really aged and need some renovations and paint. Quite a few cracked tiles. The hotel breakfast buffet (S$110) is not that enticing and you would be better off eating elsewhere - Breakwater café next door is very good, and we also found the dinner options at some of the other hotels (Heritage Park) were better quality and more reasonably priced. As others have mentioned, the nearby beach is littered with water bottles - which you will see everywhere in Honiara.

Good rooms, nice and spacious. Very comfortable beds. Good location for lovely sea breezes. Beautiful lobby and lovely helpful staff. Arranged a tour guide for us, the amazing Johnny, and also a taxi another day. Lovely grounds and gardens. Would be good if someone could rake the beach area every morning and afternoon. Put a few tables and chairs out, an umbrella or two. It would be a lovely place to sit. Especially late afternoon with a cold drink and some snacks.

Clean and tidy, good location close to everything, airport shuttle avaliable when you need it. Very helpful Hotel staff.

I would not recommend going to the inhouse Japanese restaurant. One of the waitresses was very rude never smiled at anyone and had a really bad attitude. Our food although delicious, the main meals came out at different times, almost an hour between dishes.

The hotel layout and location are excellent and the staff were very helpful.

The accessways to the rooms are shabby, and there was no elevator, so checking in and out with heavy luggage wasn’t ideal. The bathroom in my room was in a poor state.

8YoungPosted on: 7-10-2024

Very good

The driver of the airport shuttle is dangerous. Drives far to fast without regard for the safety of his passengers or other road users. If I stay at Mendana again I will use a taxi. Please insist that he drives responsibility or get another driver.

Friendly and helpful staff.Reception welcoming and security staff very helpful taking our bags up the stairs to the room.

We stay here often as it is clean and convenient location. We just needed two towels. One is not enough for a couple staying.

I like the fact that it is located by the beach and in the CBDC easily accessible to main business centers in Honiara. However, the facilities need a major face lift.

The facilities are old and need major renovations to commensurate the value of the money.

8LucPosted on: 6-1-2024

Clean and comfortable, central location, seaview, very nice and friendly staff. Good A/C. Good bed. Large room.

There is no lift, and the wooden staircase to go upstairs would need some cleaning/dusting/fresh paint.Likewise the shower has seen better days, and would need refurbishing.
