Pros +
- The staff, the location, comfort of the room, the old fashioned style of the building. Excellent breakfast.
- The staff were incredibly nice and attentive
- The position of the hotel is amazing and the stuff despite all the shortages was very friendly. Even the hotel director was professional, dedicated and helpful, but unfortunately could not compensate for the owners that managed to destroy an amazing hotel.
Cons -
- Some facilities and infrastructures need urgently to be renewed. Two electricity shutdowns during our stay for example. Only one lift available when two or three are needed.
- Everything was great, only thing to complain about is it’s huge and its quite the walk to get to your room, lots of stairs, and the elevator was vintage! (But it’s still a wonderful place)
- I came to this hotel at least 15 times in the past, but during the old owners. In 2023, Pavăl Holding bought the hotel and they are trying each year to decide if they will renovate it or not. Yes, the hotel needs the renovation, but this is not the worst. (except the mould in the bathroom)The new owners cut the cost on everything from personal, breakfast, toiletries, etc. that they made out of a 4-star Grand Hotel a 1-star mass hotel. The breakfast has a wide variety, but the quality of the food is despicable. Only three ladies managing the breakfast and running around for 300 people is sad.The sun-beds used to be white, they are dark brown and full of spider nets. The personal used to wear shirts and be highly professional, now everyone has a t-shirt and try their best to do a job they are not fully qualified for. All in all, the hotel used to be amazing, but it died after the new owners bought it.

Beautiful property right on the lake with walkable shops next door.
Prices on the property are very over priced for what you get. Dinner was ok, drinks were pretty bad for the cost. Better walking down the lake to restaurants. Rooms could use some brightening to truly live up to their potential.
Amazing hotel! Comfortable bed, good shower, incredible location. One of the best breakfast buffets I’ve seen!
Style, facilities, location, staff
For some people it might look like worn out, but we like it as is.
Lake view from Balcony. Staff were helpful.
Room size was small.
Breakfast is amazing
The room given to us was not what we booked. We booked a room with balcony. They did change it on the second day but it was a very small room.
The hotel is amazing in terms of location. When we stayed it was in its final weeks before closing down for renovation, so the price we got was very good. It is a little faded, but retains it's grandeur. I am sure it will be stunning when it reopens.
The restaurant options were limited, but I suspect that was because they were winding down for closure, and there were not many guests.
The location, the view from the room and the ease of having a ferry stop at our door.
Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in our room. The bar menu was expensive compared to local cafes and restaurants which stopped us using the bar for food. Would have been good if there were board games available in the lounge area, as this is a great location overlooking the lake for some entertainment.
generally everything
food was poor in choice and price except breakfast which was excellent
Absolutely beautiful hotel, amazing views. The staff were friendly and the hotel was charming. Very clean. The restaurant food for our evening meal was excellent.
It was our honeymoon and I emailed the hotel a few weeks prior to arriving and thought we’d have something to celebrate this on arrival such as a message in the room or a heart on the bed with towels etc, but it was just like a normal stay no extras, not even a congratulations on arrival. I know this is an extra ask but it would have been nice to have it acknowledged somehow. Not a lot of nightlife nearby and the last ferry is fairly early. Not a lot to do in Gardone but in the neighbouring towns such as Lazise, Garda, Sirmone and bardolino across the lake were busier and had more to do, very easy to get the ferry across but again as said above there are limited times from gardone.
Beautiful old girl, so glad we came before the closure and upgrade, would love to come back and see what’s been done. Stunning views and amazing friendly staff.
No tea making in the rooms.
Amazing view from the room. Very good breakfast! Nice garden!
The best place to stay when you visit Lago di Garda. We’ve been here twice. And we have no doubt where to stay during our next trip.
We like to drink tea a lot. But there is no teapot in the room.
Fantastic location on the lake side. We felt as though we were on t’he grand tour’ in the 19 century
The only thing was the bed, it was a bit too hard for me.
Breakfast was good. Nicer if served coffee and tea to our table.Excellent location for ferries and restaurants.
I didn’t like not having tea and coffee in the room.
Idyllic position on the banks of Lake Garda. Staff are exceptional and will go the extra mile to help with transfers and recommendations for restaurants and tours. The hotel is next to the ferry station.
no negatives
Location
I have been here twice, best thing was delicious and rich breakfast but this time some services and breakfast changed.
Very nice lake view.
A little bit old & average breakfast.
