Pros +
- Staff is very friendly, helpful and the venue is incredibly beautiful.
- Spacious accommodation and pleasant balcony overlooking the fabulous iconic architecture. Great spaces to wander around and use in the main hotel building. Great complimentary wine tour into the historic cathedral of wine.
- Beautiful balcony room with a "Village View" but could see the vineyards and back of the hotel. So comfortable and many thoughtful details like a "pillow menu". Breakfast had hotel and cold options. Dinner was delicious.
Cons -
- I had serious problems with air conditioning... my room was 40 degrees hot as the airco kept pumping in hot air at midnight... i couldn't sleep, the maintenance arrived fast but in reality still took more than 1h to cool the room down after doing the adjustments, then it went freezing cold. I paid over 700 EUR/night and i could barely sleep properly and got sick with all this. No discount was offered to compensate me for this inconvenience.
- Nothing, but debatable value for money. No option to stay in one of the iconic main hotel rooms, with ambiguous booking information.

Dinner at 1860 took forever!!! Isn’t even get a glass of water for 20 minutes…way too slow, service at the restaurant really was not great, but the food was outstanding
The building is a work of art worth visiting and seeing in daylight and especially at night. The overnight stay is a must! We enjoyed the included winery tour with wine tasting and huge breakfast the next day. For dinner we decided to try the Non-Michelin restaurant and its extraordinary tasting menu.
The building itself needs a little more care as it is aging. We saw that you are in the process of doing just that. Take notice of little details like doors that get stuck when swinging them open.
The Hotel is absolutely beautiful. The Staff and accommodations were excellent. The view was beautiful. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The wine tasting and tour were excellent. The Breakfast and Restaurante Tradicion 1860 was very good.
We were very disappointed with the food quality and flavor of the Michelin star restaurant. It was not on par with other Michelin Star restaurants we have been to there is no value for the price.
Friendly staff, great position on the beach and closeTo the old town
The room and the local area.
The view or the price.
architecture, location, room and facilities
Super location. Iconic building in wonderful surroundings. Staff super. Very helpful and informative winery tour. Excellent wine bar with great food options.
Breakfast relatively poor. Dining rooms too small and Traditional restaurant lacking in atmosphere.
Location The attitude of the staff Passionate
The cost
Beautiful room, delicious restaurants, wonderful winery tour
Beautiful architecture
They charge me after checking out for canisters of shampoo, shower gel and hair conditioner that I simply didn’t take from the room. 50€ each. 150€ total for amenities I didn’t take from the room. And I had to call them asking what was that charge in my credit card about. Absurd and dishonest. Never been treated like that before.I am filing a complaint with Marriott.
Architectural appeal married with Rioja Wine
There was no link or appreciation shown by Hotel staff for the heritage of the vineyard
A beautiful hotel with huge comfortable rooms. We enjoyed the spa, dined at the restaurant, and toured the caves. The staff was friendly and helpful - always ready to go the extra mile.
While the property is beautiful, it felt a little dated.
view, design, pool
spa the sauna was closed
Architecture. wine test.
The level of service doesn’t corresponds to the cost of the hotel. not luzurious enough. staff not very kind in general. lack of activities to do.
Room was amazing with a huge terrace overlooking the village and winery. Breakfast was lovely with a huge selection of varied food delivered to our table, no buffet here! Reception and hospitality staff were friendly and helpful (especially Luis!). Complimentary wine tour was fun and informative and the tasting at the end was wonderful. Spa was relaxing and again the staff really friendly and helpful.
It is a very expensive place to stay, but for us it was a bucket-list trip and worth doing just for the photos! The exterior of the main building does need a little TLC and in places a good clean (exterior windows etc), the quirky architecture must make it very difficult to maintain though..
Staff friendly, architecture spectacular.
Service slow and unprofessional, in spite of friendliness of staff. Room was not made up during our day out.
