About

Located in the peaceful center of Durbuy overlooking the medieval castle, this hotel offers rooms with modern-style décor. The entire main building of Hôtel Le Sanglier des Ardennes, including the 2 restaurants, wellness center, bar and rooms has been renovated in April 2018. Some of the rooms at the hotel include a flat-screen TV, a mini-bar and a seating area. All rooms are equipped with a safety deposit box. Some of the rooms at Sanglier des Ardennes boast views over the Ourthe River. One of the hotel's restaurants, La Bru'sserie, offers a selection of tapas and sharing food from around the world and a local gin from the Ardennes. Guests can relax in the wellness center for an extra charge. It features a sauna, spa bath and hammam. A range of beauty treatments are also offered including manicures and exfoliating treatments. The center Marche-en-Famenne is just over 20 minutes drive from the hotel. Liege, featuring sights including the Curtius Museum, is 50 minutes away by car. Golf Blue Green de Durbuy is a 10-minute drive away.

    • We liked all. They are very friendly staff even if they don’t speak so good Dutch but they make the effort. The location is great , offers a lovely view and you can walk to sightseeing different small streets that are very cozy. If you want to save money , check this Hotel in low season.
    • The food and wine were excellent, The service at the front desk was very friendly and efficient.
    • Location is close to Durbuy centre. Very clean roomBreakfast is fantastic, there is a lot of variety

    Cons -

    • We don’t know if is like a rule in Durbuy or in Belgium , but Monday a lot of Restaurants were closed, included the Restaurants of the Hotel , which it was a pity.
    • Everything was perfect except that the room was a bit too dark
    • The room lighting system was a little awkward - hunt the required light switch!

The room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. The location of the hotel is very picturesque in the village/city with its little streets and 300million years old rock face! Pity that the castle is closed to tourists, and has been for years!

The room lighting system was a little awkward - hunt the required light switch!

Very centrally located, beautiful room with a super view of the river, very very peaceful and clean

The bed wasn’t as fabulous as the rest of the room. It was fine but not great. Needed a firmer mattress.

Location is excellent. Breakfast is a bit pricey but very good.

The room was quite dark even with all the lights on. For my wife to put on her make up was a bit challenging.

    The room was nice

the price is really hight compared to what you get. The staff is not really friendly and helpfull. Amenities in the room are not well maintained such as coffee machine ( did not work) , towels were not adequately replaced, noise from the wellness ( please do not stay in room 110 )

Location is wonderful, staff very nice and friendly

Bed mattress is terrible (extremely soft). Impossible to sleep.

In the middle of the center, spacious rooms and excellent breakfast buffet.

The breakfast room was not very charming

    everything was perfect

Stunning hotel and town. Beautifully designed, real feeling of opulence and gorgeous wine selection, in a cellar that goes under the road, linking the 2 parts of the hotel. We had a suite overlooking the square and the river, with a deep windowsil you could sit and watch the world go by.It feels old fashioned but in a lovely way. We weren't expecting Durbuy to be as gorgeous as it was, lots of tiny cobbled streets filled with bars and restaurants.

Aircon didn't work and kept switching off through the night and it was hot. We were advised to book dinner and thought we'd booked a hotel restaurant, limoni e tartufi, but actually it was just an italian restaurant in the town, we were given a terrible table ande had a bad meal, which was a shame as all the other restaurants looked lovely.

The spa is wonderful, well worth the extra €50 to use, but make sure you book in advance! All the facilities we used were lovely, very comfortable bed and the staff were very helpful. We had a one night stopover en route to Spa for the F1 and it was a lovely bit of luxury before 4 days at a race track!Durbuy is a fab city, we had an excellent traditional Belgian meal at La Brasserie Ardennaise and delicious brunch at super cute Édouard Garden Café.

Our room was incredibly dark, the walls are painted black and there aren't many lights, had to use my phone to look in the wardrobe. Also the only mirrors are in the bathroom, so with two people getting ready is impossible, one in the shower the other has no mirror and is then in a hot steamy room trying to do hair and makeup (suspect a man designed this!) Everything is incredibly stylish but there are a couple of practical problems as a result. Stick a mirror over the desk and a light in the wardrobe and it's a 10 out of 10!Breakfast wasn't included and €35 pp seemed a bit steep on top of over €230 for the room.

The hotel had a very good breakfast, clean and spacious rooms, and friendly staff. Le Grand Verre Resto highly recommended 10 out of 10!!!

    Phishing emails from Hotel administration.

The staff was wonderful very helpful and professional.

The room was quite small, but most of all we found that the lighting system was poor. Too dark and light pointing directly to your eyes. Found difficult to read in bed in the evening. Found difficulty putting my make up on because of the lights and to operate the shower properly without my glasses in because of the bat lighting.

Well designed wine cellar entrance to the liftamazing river view through well designed windows

Shower designed could be more logical even beautiful

I tried a few times to book this hotel and finally I had success and the wait was all worth it. The room was beautiful and comfy, the food was excellent. I did my birthday dinner and it couldn't have been better.

I can't think of anything to criticize.

Could be a bit cleaner on rooms

    9MladenPosted on: 7-2-2024

Pretty architecture, tastedully appointed, quiet and comfortable on a great location.

Somewhat dark, tacky golden details, no real styling refinment.
