Pros +

  • Location, privacy uniqueness
  • The location of the hotel is perfect. Very easy to get to from Helsinki, surrounded by beautiful nature. The hotel is as beautiful as in the pictures. The surroundings offer complete silence and relaxation with amazing views of water and forest. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. All facilities are very modern and clean. Rooms might be small but the fireplace in the room provides a very nice atmosphere, summer and winter.

Cons -

  • At this price range our expectations of the hotel were accordingly high. However, there were key aspects that we were left disappointed with. For such a high nightly rate it seems absurd to be charged for basically anything extra. It is not possible to charge your car without paying a set price of 30 EUR (not worth it for a hybrid), if you want to use sauna it comes at an extra cost but limited to a time slot of only 50 mins and, if I understood correct, doesnt even include use of jacuzzi! Your only other option is to use open sauna which is limited to hours in the morning, at the same time as breakfast. The decor in restaurant and rooms is high standard but way too dark for convenience. Also for a hotel that invites its guests to come and enjoy nature, bike, swim, sauna, walk etc. we were very disappointed to discover that the hotel restaurant only offers fine dining on Saturdays. The combination doesnt make sense. Being active outside leaves you very hungry at dinner time and fine dining will not make you full after paying 100 EUR for 5 courses. The only other option is to walk to the ferry point and take a quick ferry that goes every 20 mins (less than 5 mins) to a restaurant/supermarket on the other side. Not ideal when travelling with elderly or kids. Finally, it was disappointing to discover that although the hotel advertised pets allowed, this is limited to only dogs, and we had to leave our cat at home. To sum up, if money is no object, its a fantastic getaway option. On the other hand if you think twice about where to put your dollar (or eur) I think there are better options that give more bang for your buck.
