Hotel Schmid & Alfa

Perfect location, overlooks the lake, right in the heart of Brunnen. Staff was amazing and so sweet, breakfast was a traditional Swiss breakfast with plenty of food and very delicious. Family apartment was perfect for us with two teens. Will return again!

The view from the balcony was amazing. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Parking was easy and not expensive.

It was hot and like most places in Switzerland there was no AC.

Great location, bed was comfortable, large bathroom, great balcony with mountain and lake view. Breakfast was good and convenient with everything you'd want and good coffee. Given a discount card that was very useful. Friendly staff.

Parking in lot was extra, but cheaper than paying by the hour.

The room was in a different building from Breakfast and management, but easily accessible. It could be less expensive

Main Hotel Schmid (with green shutters in photo above) was being renovated outside so no lake views available. We were put into a separate hotel building which is the white building in the photo above to the right of Hotel Schmid. Great views. Nice receptionist gave us all the info we needed.

Separate Hotel Alfa building is not manned by any hotel resources and breakfast is in the main hotel Schmid. Breakfast was basic but coffee was good.

I reserved double room with lake view and we got one with balcony! The view is just amazing! Bed is big and comfortable even though there are 2 mattresses (they do not drift apart tho). The woman working there (with short blond hair) was super nice and welcoming! Location is great and the parking (10 CHF) is only like 100m from the hotel.

The view was stunning and the staff were very friendly and created a relaxed and homely atmosphere.

The apartments are only accessible by stairs, so if you have mobility issues you may struggle.

Overall the hotel is ok but a little dated but today’s standards especially in view of the price paid. The view was as expected of the lake. Breakfast was standard. It was good but not exceptional when compared to other places at this price.

Rooms need a bit of a refresh. The floor boards in the rooms squeaked quite considerably which woke my partner when I went to the bathroom during the night.

Location is top ,clean rooms .Good breakfast.

This hotel doesn’t deserve a 4 star rating, but rather a 3 star , no bar , minibar is empty, staff is cold at arrival and at breakfast .

We arrived at midday and were able to leave our luggage and get the remote for the secure underground car park. It was a wet day and having explored the town (great cafe Schelbert) we were able to check in early. Next door was a Michelin starred vegetarian restaurant (Birdy’s) where adding meat to each course attracts a fee. We loved it.

I just loved everything

Hotel was very clean, linens were lovely, tap water was amazing, shower head felt like a massage with the amazingly hot water. Maria was very helpful and extremely nice. All the staff were.

I did not enjoy having down pillows as the only option as they get way too flat for me and the room was a bit stuffy. We opened the bathroom window over night and it helped with that the second night. Beds were too soft for me personally so i did not get great sleep but I’m sure others might prefer them that way. Relatively minor things overall though.
