This guest house offers traditional country-Hotel accommodations on spacious grounds, surrounded by the tree-lined mountains of Boaventura. It features a games room with pool table and several lounge areas. Including a balcony, the rustic rooms offer a telephone and private bathroom. The restaurant has a wooden ceiling and opens onto a conservatory with views of the surroundings. There is also a bar and an open-air terrace with table and chairs set among the trees. Located on Madeira's north coast, between the towns of São Vincente and Santana, Solar de Boaventura is in an area with several hiking trails. Santana is 9.3 mi away and Funchal, the island’s capital, is 31 mi away. On-site parking is free.

Pros +
- Solar de Boaventura is a great venue, with a beautiful garden (that smells pretty good as well). The pool facilities are a big plus. The room was clean and tidy, but the beds were a bit old. The pillows were way too thin, just bad (I wouldnt call it pillows to be honest). The bathroom has enough space and was sufficient. I hate to say it, but the food at breakfast was pretty mediocre. And the rooms and hallway are quite noisy. Outside there is enough parking place. Looking back, Boaventura was a bit far away from activities I did (but with the short distances on the island that is not a big problem).
- The grounds and the pool area were absolutely beautiful. The room was nice. The staff were very friendly.
Cons -
- The bed was hard as a rock. The linens were not very nice, and the pillows should be thrown away. A few little upgrades with the linen, the pillows and the mattress, and turning up the spa would totally improve my opinion of the hotel.
