Surrounded by pine forests, this hotel is situated in Borovets, 55 yards from the gondola lift and 270 yards from drag lifts. It houses a spa center and numerous restaurants. At 4,265 ft above sea level, the alpine-style Hotel Samokov is a one hour's drive from Sofia. It features a bowling alley as well as pool table and ping-pong facilities. The state-of-the-art thermal area includes a hammam, steam bath, Finnish sauna, foot baths with sea salts, a Kneipp pool and a relax area. There is a gym, an indoor swimming pool and a beauty center with cosmetic treatments and a hairdresser. The rooms are equipped with minibars, satellite TV and bathtubs. The balconies boast mountain views. Hotel Samokov's Panorama Restaurant serves buffet breakfast and dinner and also has a menu. The Barbecue Terrace next to the swimming pool offers grilled specialties, fresh salads and refreshing drinks. The Samokov has a lobby bar serving cake, sweets and various cocktails as well as a Sports Bar next to the gym.

- This is an old hotel, so expectations should be aligned to that. We went after the end of the active season so it was quite empty. Best thing in the hotel turned out to be the swimming pool - heated to a perfect swimming temperature so we could stay inside for two straight hours with a kid, without feeling cold.
Cons -
- I hope the food is better in the active season because for us it was totally underwhelming. The dishes were mostly dirty and the choice quite poor and of low quality.
