    Pros +

    • Great location for where we wanted to be, easy to find and park. Great breakfast. Helpful people in the hotel and restaurant. Lovely restaurant meal and breakfast was also really good.
    • It was spotless. The bed was very comfortable. The view of the castle was wonderful. The staff was very helpful when we arrived. The restaurant food was delicious!!! The portions were also very generous for the price.
    • Breakfast quality was good as well as staff very attentive. Room and hotel in general was clean.

    Cons -

    • A very small inconvenience: the toilet seat kept detaching itself when you open and close it. But as long as you are not in a rush to go, all is good.
    • I understand that things happen and breakdowns happen but not having hot water to take a shower was pretty disappointing. We tried calling someone after 11 with no success. Perhaps assistance would be ideal to have 24/7 if you are going to rent rooms.
    • Parking on street was fine, we had no issues, but might not be accessible for everyone, especially if you have a larger vehicle.

Very good value for your money. Room was comfortable, no issues. Dinner in the restaurant below was also very good and not expensive.

Parking on street was fine, we had no issues, but might not be accessible for everyone, especially if you have a larger vehicle.

The hotel was nicely place nearby the river with a nice view over the castle. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. they provided a crib free of charge and breakfast was good. The hotel restaurant was very nice, a bit overpriced but lovely food

no parking available unless in the street, although close by it was raining a lot so makes difficult to access the entrance with suitcases plus a baby under the rain. Also there was no one able to give us support at the reception when we arrived. It was earlier than the check in time, but since it was raining we cancelled our plans for a walk around and wanted to see if we could (at least) leave the luggage ... the person there did not have access or authorisation for such do we had to wait. But overall a nice experience

The front desk is very helpful and the breakfast is good.

The funiture is old and room is small.

This was the best hotel experience I had in Portugal. The hotel was easy to find, the staff was friendly and accommodating and everything worked very well. Wifi was excellent and I even had some heat (as the weather had turned chillier approaching winter). The hotel is located at the base of the "mountain" that Marvao - the medieval city and palace occupy and is only about 6 miles from the Spanish border. If I ever return to this area, I will definitely stay at the Sever Rio Hotel!

I had absolutely no problems with this property.

comfortable, helpful staff, nice breakfast, great view

    9TobyPosted on: 10-1-2024

Very good restaurant food in lovely surroundings, next to river. Staff helpful & friendly.Good off road parking.Beautiful country surrounding with Marvão Castle nearby.

Unpretentious, comfortable 3-star hotel on the river Sever, with breathtaking views of Marvao. Wonderful garden restaurant.

    8SusanPosted on: 7-1-2024

    Location and in attractive setting.

Needed a bit of upkeep in the bathroom and more hanging space for towels.

    8KevinPosted on: 6-20-2024

Staff, location, breakfast and parking for motorbike.

Room needs redecoration from the dated 70's style. Balcony chairs and table were a disgrace. Restaurant wasn't as good as expected although the staff were excellent. Card machine refused every time to let me pay in euros, probably cost me an extra £20 during our stay.

    8ClaudiaPosted on: 6-15-2024

The room is very clean and the location is amazing. We normally stay here when visiting Marvao as it is good value for money. It’s not luxury and the fixture and fittings could be nicer but you get what you pay for. It’s comfortable and the staff is very friendly. We will come back in the future.

The breakfast option could be better.

    10MeredithPosted on: 6-9-2024

The staff were very helpful to me because I had a bank card problem. And the restaurant staff very good too.

Its a great location with a beautiful restaurant outside along the river. And for swimmers a lovely river right beside the hotel for public swimming.

    8WarnerPosted on: 6-8-2024

Easy to park motorcycles just outside

There was no restaurant open for evening meal but it may have been because there was a function on

    9JohnnyPosted on: 5-26-2024

Its location was outstanding. The views from my room were spectacular.

The rooms need to be renovated.

    9DarranPosted on: 5-9-2024

Great staff fantastic setting on the river. Couple local bars very pleasant

    8KeithPosted on: 5-9-2024

The staff were very friendly and our room was super clean. The breakfast and meal in their restaurant was excellent.

The room was very small, the door did not lock properly, and the shower nozzle was fixed at a ridiculously low hight.

    8MarkPosted on: 5-3-2024

Great location with view to marvao was terrific.Staff were very friendly & we felt comfortable. Parking right outside & breakfast was fine with cooked options as well as cold meats etc

Rooms are a bit small & needed some care eg side shelves etc could get a makeover. The restaurant wasn’t open which was disappointing as we know it’s great from previous visit in the area
