Placido Hotel Douro - Tabuaco

It has all the physical things of a 4-star hotel - very large room, well furnished, very clean, large common areas, great food and really friendly staff - ir just doesn't look that fancy but it is great value at a very affordable rate.As it is some kms away from Douro it is less crowded but still just 2 minutes from the most fantastic scenery.

It could have looked fancier, but then it would be more expensive too...

There is nothing that indicates that it is a four-star hotel. The hotel is old. There is no refrigerator or water heater for tea. It is very far from the city. The breakfast is weak and the number of employees is small, which reduces the quality of service.

It had great views of the Duoro Valley and the town of Tabuaco.

It isn’t a destination resort. Most patrons stay the night and they move on.

It was out of season and the hotel was extremely quiet. It was just a one night stopover and the weather was appalling. Staff were very helpful and breakfast just as we ordered.

It's located in a quite area, nice to get some rest and easy access to Tabuaço village to get some nice food and drive to the surrounding points of interest that we wanted to visit.

At breakfast, the eggs and bacon were always cold. Don't understand the reason for that. Right on the first day we mentioned it to the waiter, but it kept the same way for the next 3 days

it is a bit too far from downtown where seems no good restaurant nearby. The restaurant the hotel recommended us was not good.
