    Pros +

    • The hotel is a preserved palacio , built in 1525, the architecture inside makes you feel as if going back in time. The room was spacious, comfortable bed and a tub in the bathroom. The hotel provides different options for breakfast - buffet, a set menu or the possibility to pick a pastry or sandwich from the café in the morning. The food in the restaurant was quite tasty. There're some small food stores as well as a laundry nearby. There's also a possibility for accommodation in a dormitory room, which is the same building.
    • Looked like an amazing place BUT staff was aggressive And BED BUGS!!!!! Seriously!
    • It was a nice hotel and our friends that stay at Albergue were able to stay there also.

    Cons -

    • There's a siesta for the working hours of the restaurant, so they don't serve food between 4 pm and 7 or 8 in the evening. Even though it is typical for Spain, it is sometimes disappointing not to be able to have a proper lunch if you arrive late.
    • The four bed bugs I found crawling in my bed when I switched on the light in the morning. Not in the albergue but in a hotel room in this four star hotel. Two nymphs and two adults. Had all four in a piece of tape. Showed the front desk, they grabbed the tape, threw it away and said they don’t have a problem. So, yeah.
    • It took awhile for the air conditioner to kick in after we asked the front desk several times they sent a maintenance person to fix it. In the end it was a comfortable stay.

    Clean spacious rooms, friendly staff

Bathrooms strangely configured, shower/tub combo results not well contained by partition, then slippery

Fantastic location in the middle of town perfect for leaving the city for the next stage of the Camino

There is a light above the door which was on all night long and kept me from getting a good night sleep

The hotel is lovely and the staff is very helpful.

The shower was disappointing in such a nice hotel. The flow from the shower head was weak and the water was not very hot.

Lovely renovated historic hotel with great restaurant, lively bar, and attentive staff. Parking at garage two blocks away. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There was an exhibit of iron work sculpture on the premises while we were there.

This was a stop on our Camino. Great location. Very clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. Nice to have a bathtub! Good breakfast in the bar in the morning.

    Nothing to note.

The property was very clean very centralized. The rooms were big and spacious. It was a very comfortable place to stay on the Camino.

The staff are very overworked working the restaurant as well as the front desk. It took over two hours to get shampoo and soap a long time to wait when you’ve been on the trail for six hours hopefully management can find more staff or clean the bedrooms. Better to make sure soap and shampoo are available when guests arrive

The room was comfortable and the staff were helpful.

The restaurant is over priced and the food is average.

    Clean, good WiFi, excellent staff!

It was so comfortable that we decided to stay an extra day! Steps away from the grocery store.

Really nice hotel in a good location right in the center of town. I had a large, quiet, clean room. Great restaurant, dinner was delicious and the breakfast buffet very good. I would definitely stay here again.

Price was high but it was a nice place to stay while on the camino.

So...when you are doing the Camino Primitivo, you are staying at albergues or hostels, very often in shared rooms. The Hotel Palacio de Meras is a four star hotel and only about €8 p/p more than a hostel if you are staying in a double room. We literally thought we were in the wrong place when we arrived. It felt so luxurious!!! The rooms are large and have all the perks of an expensive hotel - great quality soap and shampoo in the bathrooms, a two-sided adjustable make-up mirror, a hair dryer...a mini-fridge... It has a formal dining room, a bar and tables out in the plaza. The portions were insanely big and delicious. And the location is great. A block away from a supermarket, half a block from a pharmacy, and close to other key businesses like cafes, bakeries, and bars.

Wonderful building and nice rooms. Reasonably priced for the rooms themselves.

Buffet breakfast wasn’t special enough for 12 euros. Bar was enjoyable but the drinks really added up in cost.

    8EmmaPosted on: 12-3-2024

Hotel is lovely. Very quiet when I was there so breakfast in the restaurant was not worth it but the cafe next door which is part of the hotel was lovely and staf very friendly.

The hotel is great and stuff was really friendly. The room was big with a bathtub. It was clean and location is perfect. But! In the morning we noticed the bedbugs in the beds. So be ready for this unpleasant surprise. It’s been a week but still our bodies full of bites :(
