Directly opposite the station in a small village surrounded by mountains and with direct access to walking options

Hotel is on the main street next to river, near the train station. Our room faced the river, at the rear of the hotel, which felt private. Room was clean. Manager let us stay in the room an extra 30 minutes past checkout in the morning.

Furnishings and amenities were minimal. OK for one night, but you can do better at Hotel Le Commerce down the street for about the same price. Only one (1) light, over the bed (except for light in the bathroom). One (1) outlet. No chair or table (other than little side tables next to bed). Toilet made loud roaring sound (mechanical pump?) when flushed. Hallway is dark. Walls are thin (we could hear a guest next door coughing).

A simple 2 star hotel with very clean, bright rooms and basic facilities at very reasonable cost. The owner is very helpful.

I stayed in 2 different hotels in Modane, either side of a week's walking in the mountains, and this was definitely the nicer hotel. Breakfast was reasonably adequate. Pleasant staff.

The mattress was rather uncomfortable as it was not smooth and had ridges/corrugations! My room was facing the main road and, with the windows open, it was quite noisy in the morning. When the windows were closed, the sound proofing was quite effective.

Right on the main road near the station, if you're coming by train. Couple of local bars and restaurants. Easy walk into main part of town, very quiet. No street lights at night so perfect view of the Milky Way!

Could do with parking but parked my motorbike on the pavement outside.

The hotel is right across the street from the train station, which was perfect for us coming with the evening train. There are multiple bars, restaurants and bakeries within a few minutes walk. We stayed two nights with a weeks hike in between, and really appreciated we could leave a bag at the hotel during the week! In general, the help we got was great and service was friendly.

The place would do good with some improvements, for example did our bathroom door not really close and in general the building is a little run down. But, the price is also very fair and the room and linens felt very clean so all in all we had a good experience!

Breakfast good and evening meal on my first visit was excellent. Unfortunately evening meal not available on second visit. Plenty of alternatives locally.

Rooms basic but clean .

nothing in particular. I stay just for one night so there was no time to try more features.

The staff were friendly and provided me with an iron when I asked. The view from the room was amazing and the rooms were secure.

Very small room and poorly decorated. Not much storage in the room. Room was not cleaned for the three nights we stayed and the restaurant always seemed closed so was not able to get any food. Breakfast was over priced 9.50 Euros for a buffet selection of only croissants, bread, slices of cheese and meat and coffee from a machine .

Breakfast was basic but adequate. The rooms on the back have a beautiful view of the river and mountains. The rooms are basic but are ideal for a stopover on the way to a ski resort. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Very good location to start the Tour de Vanoise. The manager was very nice as our bags were delayed so we would not arrive at the hotel until 1:00am and we were able to call and they gave us the code to get into the hotel.

Nothing really. We got in very late and left in the morning to go hiking. Everything was good.

Great position near the tunnel and the highway, and yet with a beautiful river view. Very small and very comfortable room, good bed. Kind host.

A small but very clean hotel opposite the train station. The room was comfortable, the mattresses very good. Everything worked fine in the bathroom.The small breakfast was more varied than expected.I would particularly like to highlight the very nice and very hospitable and helpful reception!

There were hardly any restaurants that were open nearby. It takes a long time to get to the town center and there are no bars there either. It's a very quiet area...

Host was very welcoming. Room was fine. Breakfast was excellent - set me up for onward journey.

dinner is exceptional! I like the Mexican burger I get, recommend it for you, too.

more flexibility could be given to travellers who need to catch transport after 10:00 am (for example, allowing them to stay in the lounge for longer, even with a fee)
