Great location, great staff, excellent breakfast
.We went with my mother. The location and facilities were very good. The food was diverse and delicious. It was also nice to have a vegetarian option.
I just didn't like the room location. The room was small and located at the back.
Breakfast, bar, bedrooms, staff, all fantastic
The complimentary shuttle was most accommodating. Jon was great....he was always cheerful and most willing to help.
Ski in ski out
No spa and no pool
The hotel is ski in and ski out and the staff at reception is friendly.
We stayed in a family room with the bunk beds. The room is tiny. There is barely space to move around or store all your clothes. Bathroom is again really small and the shower was not darining well and kept on overflowing. There was only one small window in the room and it never felt bright enough especially inside the cupboards under the bunk beds. We were constantly trying to find our clothes in the dark closets unless we used our phone torches. Altough we paid a high price for the room and half borad, the food was very disappointing. There wasn't enough variety and most food was just bland. The drinks and food were very expensive compared to other places nearby. We ended up having lunch else where everyday. The worst part of this hotel is the tiny and stuffy boot room. The boot room is not planned to accomodate the number of guests in the hotel. It was brimming to the full every morning with parents trying to get their kids ready and out for ski school. It was a torture to be in that room with no space to get your things out of lockers, sit down or even get out of the room as there were people everywhere. The exit to the slope was steep and icy with no slip mats for the first 2 days which caused additional delays when trying to get out of the boot room as people were struggling to walk out in their ski boots. This was our 3rd time in Val Thorens. First time we stayed at a chalet, second time in another hotel and this was by far the most expensive stay we had and by far the worst experience as well. It is just not worth the money. We opted for this hotel for the proximity to the ski school and even then we either had to walk up the hill to get to the school or ski down and wait in the queue to go up on the magic carpet. Also the spa area only has a steam room and a sauna. When you ski all day and your room doesn't have a bath, you have nowhere to soak your aching muscles. Please spend your money elsewhere.
Location was the only good point of the hotel.
Rooms are tiny and couldn't fit our clothes and us! Walking on top of each other, very uncomfortable. It was really poor, considering it was very expensive. Food was below average, very poor for vegetarians. Breakfast was ok but running out of basics, i.e., eggs was not great. We were asked what we would like as vegetarian dishes, but none of the items we asked for were made, which were very simple asks. In response, we were given a cold salad almost every night. If you're vegetarian, don't stay here. If you like some space (re bulky ski items), don't stay here.
Amazing location next to the slope. Good boot room facilities. Sauna area was great. Breakfast was also good. Nice views from the restaurant.
I got really ill on the last night. really ill, traveling home was incredibly difficult. I have no proof of course but I feel the barely warm but delicious soup could have been to blame. The evening meal has the potential to be great but isn’t quite there. The guy seating everyone says nice things like enjoy your meal but feels disingenuous, unfriendly and unwelcoming. The reception staff were really nice I have to say.
Great location
Music was too loud and bar service was too slow with the bar staff becoming rude .
Price is acceptable with half board, so comfortable for kids. Ski rental is in the hotel, so convenient.
No self washing room. Food is ok but eat for 4 days , not much vegetables and fruits.
Location, amazing stuff-fully positive,food-bar-clean,best view sauna, ski in-out and direct connection to the slopes…Special thanks to Charlotte manager,Ori-Clara-Amma from reception,Luc-Antoin from ski rental, all restaurant stuff…Best crew I have ever seen on my entire accomodations…
Nothing bad but could be extra good if there was a heated pool
Hotel is in a prime position with great views from the front of the hotel out onto the slopes and mountains. Very picturesque sitting on the terrace. Great ski-in ski-out. The staff are all very professional and all very friendly and will go out their way to assist you.
Probably the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in, any where in the world. Dingy and dark and small. Paint colour is so dark they might as well have painted the room black. No cupboards, only a single inadequate shelf unit. With a shower that a larger person cannot use. Might be listed as a 4* hotel but the 3 rooms that we had as a group, would not get 2* anywhere else in the world. If you want to live in a dark hovel like a mole, then this hotel is for you. Rooms should not be listed as rooms but rather sold as a prison cell experience. Some of the rooms are listed as "without a view," you might think this means the rooms don't look out onto the slopes, don't be fooled; the room we were given looking into an excavated bank, the window was so small and ineffectual it probably did not meet the EU minimum natural lighting standards. 4* hotel with 1* rooms, given the location they have no problem filling the cells. Be warned.
good location sauna and steam room very nice
noisy spot whether on front or back of hotelvery small roomsbuffet should be put to bed it is a germ spreader (thought we all learnt this in Covid)
Good
Food was very disappointing - breakfast was nice enough but limited; lunch was not good (and very pricey) and dinner buffet was consistently poor.
The location and staff was excellent
The Christmas dinner wasn’t to our liking
Excellent location next to the slopes and excellent restaurant. We also enjoyed the SPA facilities.
The room was rather small, with no view.
The location is unbeatable—right on the slopes, with a convenient ski room to store your equipment. From there, you’re practically in front of the ski lifts, making it incredibly easy to start your day on the mountain. The staff are friendly and exceptionally helpful, always ensuring a pleasant stay. The breakfast is excellent, with a great selection to fuel your day of skiing. After a long day on the slopes, the free sauna and hammam are the perfect way to relax and recharge. Marielle Hotel truly provides everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable ski trip.
I loved the location, the ski in ski out, the bar area and the beds were comfy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Our room was directly below reception, making it noisy late evening and early morning. The breakfast was okay, but it would have been nice to have the option to have an omelette for eg, rather than creamy scrambled egg each day.
