Location and restaurant

The room and bathroom - were small, dated and old, and smelly. The bathroom width was 2 1/2 ft with the wash basin in the middle that you had to walk around. There were no hooks to hang your clothes if you choose to shower. The towel, which used to be white was an off color and stiff. The room never really cooled because there are gaps in the room through which heat/air can come in. When I told the reception person on the way out, they said “It’s the room that’s usually given to drivers” - no wonder!As to why Booking.com or Riviera would give it to a foreigner to stay is shameful. Since there were no pictures of this specific room it was impossible to figure out it at the time of booking.

A gorgeous property next to the lagoon. You are surrounded by fruit trees and birds singing. The staff were all exceptionally kind and helpful

Great location in the bush and near the river. Diner was good, and breakfast also. Wifi was not working in the cabin, although the cabin was pretty much in the bush, so I'm not complaining about that.

It’s serene. Feel like home. It does not give the feeling we are in a hotel as it’s in the midst of a big property. Friendly staff and mouth watering food.

Nice and large hotel are, so you can walk without leaving the site. Not too far from the fort area.I've also got lagoon safari at the hotel.Be prepared and bring repellent as there are a lot of mosquitoes here in the evening.

Amazing pool, Adil the resident manager was truly exceptional. The night time lagoon boat ride to hear the singing fish was amazing. The fish eagle family that live in a tree by the hotel was incredible. A great place to stay!

Location is pretty good

Cleanses is very poor condition Bathroom and toilet very poor condition, before they give it tourist at least they maintain some sort of cleanliness, toilet doors very poor condition

Great restaurant with plenty of options. Superb location and views over lake and Kalkady Bridge.

Container rooms fun but very small and could do with a bit of TLC.

Here for 3 nights but loved it so much, we came back for another 3! Beautiful location by the lagoon. Excellent restaurant with friendly, professional staff and tasty food of good sized portions. Recommend the chicken biriyani! The pool was great and kept our kids entertained for hours. Overall just great customer care especially by Adhil the Resort Manager who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. So if you need a relaxing break, highly recommend Rivera Resort!! ?

The staff are very friendly and helpful.Food is AMAZING!!!Manager knows how to help accommodate their gusted and make sure they are comfortable.If you are staying in this area of Batticoloa, I highly doubt there is a better place to stay. They do book some big party functions, you may want to check this first … but they made sure our first night was away from that excitable noise.We had to leave earlier than our reservation and their lady helped us rearrange the booking so we wouldn’t be overcharged, this was very much appreciated. The POOL is also beautiful!!!

There are parts of the property that they need to pay more careful attention to; some trails either mud and the pool had a part that was in disrepair … but, it was all still beautiful. There is much future potential here; great for big groups who would like to have private escape.Did not appreciate the 5:00 am loud music that blared in our ears (maybe this was a temple??? But someone needs to address this chaotic wake up, not pleasing at all.

Property location and staff behavior is nice.

we faced mosquitos issue due to river.just a suggestion;- AC should be installed so that families/couples can stay peacefully in the daytime.

The staff & owners couldn't have been more helpful - the site was flooded and we were helped to move to different rooms. They continued to run the restaurant (with reduced menu) for us. That is why we are giving 8/10.The resort has a pleasant bar and restaurant overlooking the lake. The "couples room" (cabins made from containers) also had a good view, both through the picture window and the outside terrace. The 2nd cabin we were in was newer so quite smart but very small. WiFi and air-conditioning were good. We couldn't use the kayaks or swimming pool because of the flooding, but would have been great.

Our 1st cabin was old and poorly maintained, it looked shabby.It was quite expensive for a very small room.

Retreat in an oasis. Professional and attentive service. Grounds staff keep the pool spotless. Container bungalows are well designed and very comfortable. Appreciate the eco initiatives.

Religious broadcasts nearby are loud and long. 4 PM and 5 AM! World peace to all.

Super lovely resort with a wonderful pool next to the lagoon. Room was clean. Food was really tasty and fresh. Super nice staff. It was really nice to hear that they are using environmentally friendly sources of energy and that they aim for green tourism.

The venue was beautiful, the pool was great, the food was good and the airconditioning worked well in the room.

The room was not how we were shown beforehand on the site, it was old and ugly. They had a party with extremely loud and very low quality sound (broken bass) which was so loud that our room vibrated like crazy, even with earplugs in we could hear every single beat like we stood next to the speaker.

I liked everything!My stay was superb.. I would stay longer only that I had pre-reserver another place..The room is clean, had it's private patio, desk, private bathroom. AC worked perfectly. There is a mosquito net over the bed and mosquito net covering the bathroom window. The property is very well mentioned and staff are all so awesome. Special thanks to Ms. Jayanthy in the reception team who was so responsive to my messages.Breakfast included was delicious too. The swimming pool is nice and refreshing, lots of greenery and the restaurant is lakefront, serving delicious food and the staff are so attentive too..The location is also few kilometers from town, yet a walking distance from Kallady Beach where you can see the fishermen and watch the sunset, small shops around if you need to buy water.. And if you happen to stay Saturday or Sunday, there is the bridge market..Overall, an amazing stay. 100% would repeat it and stay longer. Thank you :)

Staff may need more training

Probably the best hotel in Batticaola. The most friendly staff we had for our entire trip in Sri Lanka. Location is really nice with the view on the river and the old bridge. Room was really big. We ate several times at their restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The location and staff were great. The food was amazing but always took 45mins to come. The pool was fab and the locals were really friendly.

We booked 2 rooms for our family and they were very far apart, so we all squeezed into 1 room.

The hotel looked nice and the newly renovated restaurant was really charming. The food at the restaurant was great, too. The pool was clean and warm.

The beddings were really old. The bathroom and the room need to be renovated as they look quite old. The service was a bit slow, and may be it was due to the large number of guests.
