Pros +
- Great location and a historical landmark. The hi real was quiet and the food was great at breakfast and dinner.
- I have been to this hotel before and it was a good experience. quite good. Breakfast great, restaurant tasty. Staff helpful, I even cancelled my bike reservation too late and they still refunded me for the day.
- The room is very beautiful, creatively decorated and designed following the theme. The bed is comfortable and the location is excellent. The staff is friendly and available.
Cons -
- This time in the summer, they could use a fan or air conditioner.
- The room and bathroom were unfortunately not clean. The floors were very dirty, the towels smelled bad and left white, fluffy residue when using them and the bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned. We complained to the staff and even after the second round of cleaning the problem persisted.
- my room was above a restaurant with people eating and talking outside until around 22.30-23.00 which disturbed my sleep. I had asked for a quiet room. I thought it was expensive at over 500Euros for 3 nights.

Central location and comfortable bed
my room was above a restaurant with people eating and talking outside until around 22.30-23.00 which disturbed my sleep. I had asked for a quiet room. I thought it was expensive at over 500Euros for 3 nights.
The building is full of character and history and very comfortably decorated and furnished. I love the themed rooms and the explanations of the history as part of WW2 surrender in the Netherlands. The food and drink were great quality and the staff friendly and professional.
Breakfast was a bit inconsistent in terms of food being consistently available and easy to find. For instance some days forks were not provided to use for cold meat and cheeses and fresh ginger for tea wasn’t always provided. The tea choice was poor, no black tea. No issue with coffee or overall food quality and variety. Wouldn’t stop me going back if I was in Wageningen again but a bit unexpected in view of the general excellence of the hotel.
Room was large, clean and comfortable. Staff attentiveness was impeccable. Free parking was a nice addition as well. Good food in the restaurant and the bar was cozy and inviting. On top of this, it is located in an important building for WWII and Dutch history.
Can't think of anything negative. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The atmosphere in the building is nice, rooms are spacious and staff is very friendly and helpful.
This is a beautiful place in the heart of Wageningen. It is historic and has a great atmosphere. I am happy to have stayed here and would come again, but it is expensive for a couple of minor points.
Although I was there in the heart of winter, it was not extremely cold, but the room was cold and the bathroom was freezing. Cleanliness could have been better - a lot of dust in the room. I also dined in the restaurant. It had just opened after a rebuild and the staff nor the kitchen were not entirely up to speed yet. Fewer options for dinging and quite a number of hiccups with service (mostly slow) - yet we paid full price. I think a reduction woudl have been in order when they are running their learning curve on me.
This would be the best hotel in Wageningen. It's classy and old style. Bedroom was huge, each are decorated/dedicated to a famous person/style. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection and was good. There was no dedicated fridge in the room, but could be rolled in from the corridor if required. Well located on the town centre (shopping, bars, eating), and a short walk to the bus station for access around. Evening restaurant is very upmarket.
Evening restaurant is very upmarket - some more regular options might have been good. I don't always want to go out to eat for comfort food.
Unique room design. In my case Florence Nightingale room.
The noise from kitchen and bar below my room. Noisy until past midnight and then again from 6am.Towels not changed in bathroom. Lock on bedroom door kept sticking. Breakfast was very basic and not worth the money.
We love the decor and history not to mention the very friendly service.
The room was very neat, tidy and spacious, and the staff were friendly.
The breakfast selection wasn't very special, and the floor heating in the bathroom was incredibly hot. The price of the parking wasn't made clear on arrival and we were surprised with the cost.
Excellent location. Very nice breakfast room area, large, nicely decorated. Very large room (Gandhi room) well furnished. Comfortable large double bed. Good variety of food for breakfast and excellent service. Coffee machine and kettle in the room.
The bed cover too warm for the season. Just a couple of miserable hangers in the closet. No mini bar (no refrigerator).
Lovely location in this pretty town, with restaurant and terrace. The historic hotel is of great interest with each room themed to a Freedom Fighter. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Lovely restaurant for dinner and lunch. Dog friendly except the restaurant.
Location is great, it's close to everything in Wageningen and it's easy to access.
Price is way to high for what you end up getting. Imean 150eur for 1 night and not even breakfast included. That is Randstad price but no way it's an appropriate price for Wageningen. Plus it's not like you get a hotel with extra facilities (pool, sauna, etc.). Sure it has a bit of historical value but again not worth the money. Better go to Veluwe at that point and pay this amount of money for a hotel in there. At least you'll have spa facilities and be surounded by nature.
This town lacked such a nice hotel with great environment and service when I studied in Wageningen University three years ago. The hotel is located on the main street, so it is very convenient to go shopping and eating on the main street. The bus station is also only 200 meters away from the hotel, so it is very convenient to go to the campus and other cities. The room is large enough, the bed is very soft, and there is a desk for work. If you come to Wageningen for a visit or travel, staying in this hotel is a good choice.
There is a tightly closed door in the room which feels like it links the next room, which made me feel a little uncomfortable when I first entered. The lighting in the room was a bit dim at night and there was no main light for illumination.
The Hotel is perfectly located in the inner city of beautiful Wageningen. You can park right behind the Hotel. Everything is in walking distance. I personally woke up to sunshine, walked to the beach, on the way back forth watched the warmth and welcomeness of Wageningen unfold. The management even increased the water pressure of the showers since my last stay, which was my only hint of unsatisfaction. Wonderful! Always again!
Great location to visit our student grandchild. Nice size room with comfortable bed. Breakfast delicious and value for money. Friendly staff.
Layout building (downstairs) not super. Could have more attention to detail. poor lighting in the room made it difficult to enjoy the room during darker hours, e.g. to read. Staff could be better trained, e.g. they do ask if everything is ok during dinner but then forget to take with them some dirty/empty dishes.
Breakfast could have been better. The rooms, location, cleanliness were excellent.
Breakfast.
We had a great stay at the hotel! It is clean, comfy, has nice staff and is close to the city centre
