    Cons -

    • Unfortunately I was given a room which the entire time smelled like urine, despite the cleaners cleaning it quite thoroughly. The mirror on the wardrobe was cracked. I was told by the hotel staff there’d be free water in the mini fridge but the room itself had no mini fridge nor water, just the kettle with a coffee machine. Another thing: please make sure to either bring food with you from somewhere else, as the restaurant near the hotel is closed, or make sure to book the dinner at the hotel in advance. However it was very overpriced for what I got (both evenings I had a buffet type dinner).
    • no breakfast at all because not booked before when I was told the night before it would be fine
    • Rooms are tired and little to no facilities during the day. Had to use the pub down the road for lunch

Beautiful property in nature. During the two days we stayed, there were always some events happening at the hotel, very interesting. The rooms are a bit older but very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic in the old castle.

It is hidden away in the woods and quite area.

You could hear all the noise. The curtains brought in a lot of sun at daybreak. Why not offer a double bed duvet ? We had 2 single separate duvets for a double bed.

the whole place was wonderful. The historic Monastery buildings are beautiful, warm brick work and at grand scale. The gardens were splendid too, 3 m high clipped hornbeam. The Restaurant is i believe in the monastic refectory and is huge with timber ceiling and beams. High arched windows, leaded glasswork and tapestries give a very grand scene. My meal was excellent and measured up to the environment. I liked the modern study bed room i had for one person. this was in a new building on the site of lost original barns. The Nordic whiteness was softened by finely embossed lining paper. A coloured engraving on the wall gave a birds eye view of the extent of the original Monastery. All very excellent. By chance I found a working Windmill at Weelde. It is run by volunteers every Thursday evening and Sunday morning. It also has a beer club under the working grindstones ! This is of course a Belgium windmill.

small damage to shower room basin. But not a problem.

Fantastic location in the middle of nature/fields/farms, few minutes away from the motorway but very quiet. Great to walk around with your dogs.We arrived after 6pm so the reception was already closed but got good instructions where to get a key from the key box. Very straightforward. There was a coffee machine in the room but did not use it.Wonderful welcome gift for my furbabies (small bag of treats)Very comfy and soft beds.Despite the negatives I think we will visit again.

Rooms were pretty hot and there was no air conditioning.Windows did open but you could hear the music and the fireworks till early morning as there was some kind of a function going on.We stayed in schuur1 and unfortunately some blokes were smoking cigarettes in their rooms so the whole complex smelled pretty badly. The grounds definitely cater for big functions so I guess the little people (tourists) are not on the top of the list.

It was a very unexpected place and settling. We were very pleasantly surprised. We were even able to have a meal at the restaurant without booking. The waiter was very kind.

    We liked everything.

Nice local beer in the bar. Lovely old priory

The rooms were awful. My room was much in need of maintenance and refurbishment.

    The environment is very pretty.

Room was super dated and the corridor smelled really bad. The bathroom felt like we were staying at an elderly home.

fantastic surroundings inside an old Priory. Lots of space for sitting together and beautiful trees.

Could be way better for the amount of money that I paid per night.

The shower head was broken and as soon as I opened the water the broken part fell on my head
