    Pros +

    • Situated close to the station and the palace. The town has enough shops and nice restaurants are close to the hotel. The staff  were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Great value for money and great experience.
    • Quaint street, close to Versailles and restaurants. Very friendly and accomadating staff.
    • The location was fantastic! The staff was very nice! The back courtyard was quaint and attractive. Our room was cute and clean. Very enjoyable and safe stay for my wife while I was at work.

    Cons -

    • No a/c
    • There are a lot of steps to get to some of the rooms, but that is to be expected in France. Also, there is no air conditioning. The windows open and it was not hot during our visit.
    • The room we received was not what was booked. Dirty carpets made everything feel gross.

Location was terrific as was checking in late after our arrival from outside the country. Allowed to leave luggage post check out was also a plus.

The room we received was not what was booked. Dirty carpets made everything feel gross.

An absolutely amazing and magical stay. From exiting the train station in Versailles to check out, this stay was completely effortless and made easy for me. Many signs outside of the station leading to the hotel, which also told me that the hotel was established and well known. It was close to the city centre and train station, making commute and grabbing food or groceries easy. Upon check in I was greeted by the sweetest, kindest, and most helpful woman at reception. She did absolutely everything she could to help me and make my stay perfect and comfortable. The room itself was gorgeous. Sparkling clean, with a gorgeous view of the street and Parisian buildings. The bed was so comfortable, the pillows were perfect, and the shower was warm and roomy. The room even had a single pull out bed inside a chair if needed. I asked to stay another night if possible and this was not a problem at all. On arrival I did not have the right change to pay for the city tax and the receptionist assured me this was not a problem and to handle it at check out with her. I also did not have a converter for the EU and she went out of her way to provide me with two that saved my devices and peace of mind while staying. Unfortunately I was quite sick while staying here and did not get to explore the hotel or Salle de Pleume as much as I would have liked. But this perfect hotel with the right amount of French charm and modernity saved my trip and allowed me to take the rest I sorely needed. I would ABSOLUTELY return and would suggest anyone looking for a stay where you can turn off your brain in a foreign country to consider the Hotel de jeu de pleume. Can’t recommend the staff more. Friendly, courteous, and beautiful. I will certainly be back very soon!!

There is nothing not to like. Perfect.

Staff were execllent. The breakfast was good. Location is outstanding. Safety was not an issue. Bed was comfortable.

Carpet in the room was disgustingly dirty and should have been replaced long ago. Toilet base wobbled. One of the lamps did not have a light bulb in it.

    The location

There was no shower stall in the bathroom. Hence the entire bathroom became wet after bathing. The floor did not dry for the next 14 hours

Leaking shower - after washing is finished, water continued to leak for some time

The location is prime! Comfortable bed, and quiet area.

As with many hotel rooms in old buildings in Europe, the room was very small, and the bathroom area as well, though we only slept in the room.

Super nice staff. Close to Versailles Palace and the cute town (within walking distance).

Not a proper shower, but it did the trick.

Hotel was located close to restaurants.Bed was very comfortable.

    Room was very small.

    7ChristopherPosted on: 6-27-2025

The location in St Louis was excellent. We prefer to walk when possible, and Hotel du Paine is an 8 minute walk to the front gate of Versailles. The beds were super comfy and the shower had great water flow with plenty of hot water. They have a very interesting and useful luggage lift!

The rooms are all advertised as air conditioned. After a cool week in Paris, the temp in Versailles jumped to 85 degrees. No AC or fans. Heat rises and our 3rd floor rooms were baking. In the evening, we opened the windows to cool down the rooms and fell asleep that way, only to be woken up by people talking loudly after the evening concert had finished.

    The vicinity to Versailles

They couldn’t find our room and it was 11:45pm. They finally assigned us another room, very small.

Good location close to Vaesailles Palace, Jeu De Paume ,Versailles garden and many hotels.

During check out ,my wife's mobile got stolen. I am in touch with the hotel to find it. In the great Versailles and such a beautiful placec this was the least expected.

Close to the chateau and the centre of town. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Comfy bed!

Very small shower, a bit stuffy but there is a window you can open.

    Location and staff

Carpets at corridors and in the room better to be removed and replaced by a kind of material which may improve cleanness of the floors
