Pros +
- The hotel is very comfortable and very convenient to the public bus line that brings you up from the train station; also very close to the heart of town also. But the best thing is their restaurant, which is prized by local citizens for its regional cuisine and excellent value. Truly delicious, with quality farm-to-table ingrediants and genrous portions, but not at tourist prices. They offer full fare and half fare options with your room, but I don't know if that gives you access to the complete menu. We ordered a la carte. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner, as the locals fill it up.
- It was located in a very cute location with restaurants and shops not far. This is not a negative but, as a notice to American travelers who may not be used to this, though extremely common in Italy, the bathroom is a wet room. The toilet and shower are in the same space without glass dividers. The terrace had a beautiful view and having breakfast out there was a lovely experience. My room had a very small balcony which was a nice touch. Also, the hotel is on the complete other side of town from St. Francis Basilica but, it's a very nice walk and the incline isn't as bad as it looks. There's also a little shuttle around town that I think stops very close to the hotel.
- Quant hotel with bar and restaurant.
Cons -
- The airconditioner did not seem to have a remote. It was running too cold and we could not adjust it. We ended up turning it off and openning the window in the middle of the night.
- The air conditioning was not working well and you could hear everyone outside your room talking.
- The bed was reflective of the name..like a rock! Even though it was a memory foam of sorts, it was extremely firm.

Really comfortable place, the bar attached was hopping with locals at aperitivo and made you feel welcome. Easy to get to and walk to the sights
Nothing I didn’t like
Great location, beautiful old building, decent breakfast, fair for the price
Room not ready until gone 3pm so had to wait around for it to be ready. Tiny bathroom but good shower pressure!
The location. The bar inside the hotel. Most of all: the very, very friendly staff.
No complaints of any kind.
The worst thing was the music in the restaurant till 23:30, it was so noisy and intense that it felt like they are playing next to our bed, the walls are probably made out of paper because we could hear next door people talking. The room is very small and far from how it looks in the pictures… It’s very busy in the hotel, always full of some people and I really could not feel like it’s a calm place to be. The restaurant looked good and the man that works there and is the head of the restaurant ( I guess ) was super super nice to me, he was a highlight of the whole stay. The man in the reception didn’t feel very welcoming… we booked for two nights and in the end we could come only for one night. I was talking with them on the phone and emailed them as well, about this situation. Tried to cancel but because of booking policy I could not do that. So we kept two nights. And when we arrived there at 13:00 they said our room is not ready, I asked how is that possible if we paid for two nights. ( we came for a second night). The reception man said he didn’t know about that, but I was talking with a reception on the phone maybe 3 times and emailed them and they emailed me back… and as I understood it’s a family hotel, so this sounds a bit impossible. In the end of this conversation they found the room. But I really really didn’t like this attitude. So I am disappointed, I stayed with my mom and our stay was not pleasant… it’s the worst when you don’t want to come back to your hotel…
good location, walking distance to Holy Shrine. Very Clean. Friendly Staff.
bathroom is small, toilet would get wet after shower. WiFi is weak at room, only work at lobby
The bus from the Assisi train station stops 2 minutes walk from the hotel which is otherwise in a quiet neighborhood. Breakfast was plentiful. The front desk is not manned but in some mysterious way someone showed up within a minute or two whenever we needed assistance. This is our second or third time staying here and have always been satisfied.
There was a mix up with one of our rooms that resulted in a brief delay and required relocating 3 of our party to a place next door, but it was handled promptly and without drama. The hotel is at the very top of the hill so if you don't like to walk uphill you may get more exercise than you want, but then again, it is Assisi: everywhere you go requires a bit of a climb, it is part of the charm of this very special place.
Wonderful location! Very clean and neat. The breakfast was good and the views were beautiful. It was a short walk into the town or up to the fort, La Rocca. Assisi is always a wonderful place to be and the Albergo la Rocca made it even better.
Nice place right inside Assisi city
Very noisy due to sound traveling from the outside and from the kitchen. We could hear the guests next door snoring and the staff talking. The bathroom shower was a challenge to use and when use, left the entire bathroom floor soaked.
Fabulous location in the main part of Assisi. Clean room. Excellent value with the surprise that a 3 course dinner was included in the price.
If you're a fan of Italy's ancient castle towns, then Assisi should be on your list. As part of our brief trip to Umbria, this enchanting town completely won us over. Our hotel was perched in the upper part of the old town, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and the valley below. While the room was small, it was incredibly cozy, and the entire hotel exuded a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. Despite the building’s age, there were plenty of modern amenities—including a built-in elevator! I also appreciated the attention to fire safety throughout the property. And the buffet breakfast? The perfect way to kick off each morning.Assisi itself is packed with historical landmarks that could easily take days to fully explore—no surprise, as it's essentially the heart of the Franciscan order.Navigating the narrow streets of the old town by car was an adventure in itself. I’d recommend a small vehicle for this, but if you're not confident in tight spaces, there's convenient parking outside the old town walls. We absolutely loved our time in Assisi and our stay at Albergo La Rocca. It’s a must for anyone wanting to soak in the atmosphere of Umbria’s ancient towns.
Well located. Excellent value for money. Just up the town enough to be quiet and a very nice property.
Towels
The breakfast and the helpful staff.
The bathroom was a little small but practical.
Good location, parking available, hotel bar opened till lateBeautiful view from the window
Tiny bathroom with shower above the toilet very loud in the morning, noise from th restaurant and from corridorpoor breakfast
Great location, lovely crew, cozy room, average breakfast.
Could walk to all historic sites. Good restaurants and bars nearby.
Well, it is an Assisi, so it is already a great place. The location, at the top of the hill, is a few steps from the upper city bus stop from the train station. The facility was interesting, rooms clean and practical (bathroom a bit old school).
The staff were very competent and efficient, it is just that few of them smiled or engaged with any of us. Of course, no one is required to enjoy their clients, but it was unexpected and unlike any other experiences I've had in Assisi.
Excellent location, very clean and quiet room, lovely breakfast space and very helpful staff!
