About
The Albergo San Domenico hotel is an old religious complex that is located in the main square of Urbino, directly in front of the Ducal Palace, between the Cathedral and the University. The old church, with its lunette by Luca della Robbia and its magnificent paintings, will be used as a center for conventions, exhibitions and conferences, while the sixteenth-century rooms of the adjacent convent have been transformed into comfortable, quiet rooms and welcoming and characteristic lounges, rich in charm.

Pros +
- There is no better location in Urbino. The hotel is on the piazza across from the Ducal Palace so you just walk 100 yards and you are there. You can park in the courtyard for 15 euros per night and there is also an elevator. We decided to splash out to have that comfort. The room was spacious and the beds were fine. The desk personel was helpful and informative. Breakfast was copious with a good variety. I would recommend it for the ease, the parking and the location. For the rest, see below.

Cons -
- With a bit of effort this place could be over-the-top fantastic but they are resting on the laurels of their excellent location. It is a shame that they are not doing more with the lobby and long hallway filled with armchairs. It could be a really charming space but instead it's a run down corridor with chairs with a direct view on the parking. Overall the decor is lacking, with out of date floral fabric accents and on the walls of our hallway and in the room the only decor were photocopies of an old optical illusion where you either see an old woman or a young woman, plus some corny sayings in Italian. The same stuff in the room as in the hall. Come on, for 200 euros per night you can do better. I also felt that for the price of the room they could include the breakfast (11 euros per person). I went to the cafe down the street and had a coffee and a croissant for 1.80 euros.
- The bed was really bad. very shaky - in every turn the whole bed was shaking a lot. the headboard of the bed was not secured and was constantly dangling. the mattress was uncomfortablethe room was not very clean - I could see the previous guests footprints on a floor.bathroom was not ok as well. bath floor was damaged, black mold was visible on the shower door.overall feeling - the hotel seemed half-abandoned and far from 4-start hotel standards. overall I will give it 6 points out of 10, thanks for it parking and nice location.I would not stay there again.
- Very far from the 4 star promised! Cleanliness (lack thereof), no facilities to speak of, the rickety lift, the breakfast (the scrambled egg was disgusting to be frank, the forks had bits stuck in some, a hair stuck on a “clean” plate )… The shower hose was broken (old plastic). Access by car needs strong nerves!

Very approachable staff. Even if large, a quiet hotel. Nice to have parking on site. Would definitely go back, although would be hesitant to do it during a heat wave. Reviews that complain about "oldish" furniture probably do not appreciate the beauty of spending time in a room that, even as it's absolutely comfortable, gives you the extra pleasure of using furniture that you'd have to buy in an antique store. Beautiful!
Faint air conditioning in the room didn't make much of a dent. Fortunately, outside was cool and leaving the window open for several hours+AC made the place cooler. Couldn't understand why the inside hallways (and the room, initially) were so hot as the weather was not.
Location right in Urbino downtown. Spacious big bedroom. Very friendly staff
Old fashioned furniture
Location, huge rooms, brilliant easy Carparking right at the hotel.
Great location and kind staff members. Simple but suitable rooms. Interesting history.
The location in the very centre of Urbino, the square , entrance, gallery with the breakfast space, the structure of the hotel.
The courtyard of the former convent is chaotically full of cars. It would would be nice to divide it between the cars and the garden. The price is much too high for the hotel services.
The location is perfect, just in front of palazzo Ducalo di Urbino, the staffs are great and the room is clean and nice. We had a perfect stay there
Very comfortable hotel, in superb location opposite the Palazzo Ducale. Large room, excellent breakfast, and helpful and friendly staff.
nice room. pleasant staff. pity no restaurant. breakfast very good
pity no restaurant or cafe
Super friendly and helpful staff, great location, large room and wide breakfast selection
the hotel requires more maintenance: the elevator jerks when entering inside, the toilet is not fixed on the ground and tilts, the fridge is not connected, the baby chair is rusted, and I could go on... This things might be dismissed as small details, but they affect negatively the perception of the place
Centrally located opposite the Ducal Palace and next door to the tourist information, every sight is in walki ng distance. Be careful when booking a restaurant as the are not.
The house used to be a Domenican convent and you can feel it. The rooms are not perfectly soundproof. I had appreciated a more customer orientated front desk, which lacked knowledge of public transport.
Well located property with modern facilities
Bed was too hard.
The floors and decor were excellent.
Breakfast was great and the location had parking inside the city walls.
Nice property and location, friendly staff and enjoyed the amenities.
The room quite big, bathroom big, enough towels, enough toiletries
Access to the bathtub: there are NO handles. And NO bench or seat to put inside the tub.The ambience outside the bedroom is rather dull. I was hoping to find a nice restaurant, a nice bar or nice common areas --because that's what I saw on the internet. But that is not the case.
Location - comfortable - outstanding breakfast
À but oldish decor
Loved my bedroom and the location of the hotel
public spaces and view from the rooms are not great
Location, service
Too simple breakfast
