Pros +
- When we arrived, our room was actually under emergency maintenance. And so the woman at the front desk had kindly arranged for us to stay next-door at an Airbnb type room. So we actually weren’t able to stay here. But we walked back-and-forth and ate their breakfast. The view and the property location is absolute gorgeous! And the breakfast is made from scratch and is a true treat to sit there in the beautiful scenery and have a homemade lovely meal made for you. We so appreciated the way we were treated and helped in the situation when they had an emergency with our room.
- Breakfast was wonderful. View was lovely.
- The view was spectacular, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious.
Cons -
- Cold-- shower window broken and open.
- The only thing that was a little rough was the road down to our room—I didn’t mind it but I could see it being an issue with heavy rain.

This was a girls' trip and we considered our hotel choices very carefully. Location, accomodations and, of course, costs were all factors in our decision. Hotel Flor de Bromelia met all our expectations. I especially appreciated the terrific welcome by the staff as we arrived and had to quickly leave our luggage and scurry off to our first tour. They were wonderful and applied much needed mosquito repellent to each of us before we left.I would definitely stay here again. The hot spring pools are wonderful and plentiful, the food, staff and atmosphere was great.
I honestly don't know what else they could have done to make it better. This was a great hotel with terrific value for the cost.
The quarters were spacious and the view was spectacular. We love the breakfasts and most of all the coatis.
I loved the cabin feel in the woods. They had a room available that was bigger so they upgraded us for no extra charge. The shower products were nice. The view was incredible. It had a little balcony, we saw a beautiful sunset and an unbelievable lightning storm. Parking was right outside the cabin. No air-conditioning but it was not needed this time of year. Breakfast was great, I regretfully did not get her name, but she was very sweet in trying to accommodate some dietary restrictions. They had almond milk for coffee. But not sure if they always have it, in the future I would contact them in advance and I'm sure they would accommodate. I was cute, she tried to give us a little Spanish lesson with our breakfast!
It was musty smelling. It could use new mattresses and bedding. It was clean. But old. The floors were very slippery. They could really make it cute with some decor, but there were just a few random things on the wall that didn't fit the space. It didn't affect our enjoyment, just a note. There were a lot of bugs in the bathroom. But you're in the woods sooo... but nice hot shower.
We loved the feeling of being surrounded by the green of the rainforest. When it rained, it was like being in our own little world. Also, as a nature nerd, the variety of cool insects and small creatures around the cabin was really cool. I did not see a single bug inside, however, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The family that owns the place was very friendly and accommodating. The woman running the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Her da was delightful, chatting with everyone at breakfast, which was excellent. He even told my teenaged son to put his phone down for ten minutes and enjoy the view. And he did!
As mentioned by others, the walls are very thin. It didn't really bother me, though, and my son is apparently a drama llama because he was highly entertained by the couple bickering next door. Our room did not have the view of the valley that some did but I felt that was clear in the advertising and we only had to step a couple feet out the door to see the view.
Our stay at the Hotel Flor de Bromelia was a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. The owners are truly wonderful and we really enjoyed the breakfasts in the mornings. The staff was very helpful in arranging activities around Monteverde. Strongly recommend if you are looking for a small local hotel with views of the sunset.
We loved everything about staying at Hotel Flor de Bromelia! The staff was very friendly and helpful with naviagting the town. If you are looking for an great experience in Costa Rica, I highly recommend this super sweet family owned hotel! Hearing rainforest sounds while in the room was very nice. Reception assisted us with reserving ziplining and went indepth with the different options in the area along with personal recommendations! Cannot say enough good things about our experience here!
Love where the property is located - the staff was great!!
It seems that the bungalow we got was a bit older.
The room size was great, and breakfast was lovely.
Our view was obstructed by another house, which was a bummer. This could easlly be fixed by naming the different rooms, linking them to the views, & pricing more or less by view.
Beautiful view from room 128. Excellent breakfast. Staff was exceptional! Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. We highly recommend this place. The gentleman at the desk when we checked in was fantastic!
We really enjoyed the location of the property, set high up on a hill with views all the way out to the Nicoya Peninsula on a clear day and wildlife roaming on-site. A very sweet family-run place -- daughter at reception helpfully booked a Night Walk for us and patriarch served us a lovely breakfast each morning. The unit was spotless, though older decor as pictured, but well-equipped with a full self-catering kitchen. Enjoyed the vistas from the unit's deck, and the feeling of being "up" in the cloud forest.
The hot water was a bit tricky to figure out in the shower, but the proprietor did help us get it working. We were in a lower unit and one morning had VERY loud neighbors upstairs before dawn -- not well-insulated for noise. Also, must be on septic, as we had issues with toilet clogging when toilet paper was used -- staff promptly took care of this, however.
We saw so many cool animals! Capuchins, agoutis, coatis, humming birds... Beautiful view into the valley. Very very nice staff, yummy breakfast, and rustic cozy room.
Bathroom needs some maintenance.
Beautiful view
Roads were very steep and slightly tricky to find.
The view was nice from the property but wasn’t easily visible from our room. The staff were lovely and did their best to rectify issues. You can drink the tap water.
Not maintained or cleaned well. Our bed frame has a lot of built up dust which left us feeling itchy. The staff did come and clean it throughly after we pointed this out. Room was creaky, didn’t feel level, cracks in windows and holes under the door. You could hear the people next door really loudly. A lot of the property seemed to be beginning of construction with a lot of trees cleared. The walk to town is very steep with no path in places, fine during the day, but made it feel dangerous a night with cars.
Everything was exceptional, the view from our room was incredible. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Not one bad thing to say.
Fantastic location with lovely views. The delicious breakfasts with David were incredible and involved much humour and animal spotting each morning. Very warm welcome from all the family and staff.
