Hotel Cerro Lodge

Pros +

• Cerro Lodge is a birder's paradise! We saw multiple scarlet macaws and dozens of other bird species. A troupe of white-faced monkeys and howler monkeys frequented the property. Views from the dining area were stunning. The front desk staff and servers were both friendly and helpful. Dinner was decently priced and tastey.
• Very nice views from the restaurant, which serve really good pizza if you are fancying a break from rice and beans. Room is comfortable and well laid out with good amenities.

Cons -

• The Lodge really needs to embrace its destiny as a paradise of nature. It could become a true birding destination with a little more effort (e.g., conservation, signage, etc). Breakfast was lackluster and overpriced. The kitchen staff were playing really loud music and laughing loudly, which detracted from watching nature. There were also really bright lights throughout the property and flashing lights at the entrance of the reception areanot good for relaxing or for the wildlife.
• They have feeding stations to attract the wildlife especially birds. For me this is not really in keeping with Costa Ricas wildlife ethics, and I don't think it should be encouraged.
