About

Set on the site of a 700-year-old mamluk khan in the Old City of Safed, Ruth Safed Hotel is a unique building overlooking Mount Meron. Its extensive gardens include a swimming pool with stunning views and an olive orchard showing traces of an ancient perfume market. Due to the hotel's interesting architecture, rooms have an individual design showing traces of the khan, a resting point for caravans on the perfume trail. All rooms are air conditioned and feature large windows and tiled floors. You will find a fridge and tea and coffee-making facilities. Your day begins with a buffet breakfast with a large selection of food. Free WiFi is available throughout. Staff are always available to offer useful tourist advice. The hotel is set in Safed's artist colony and is surrounded by art galleries and ancient synagogues. Safed is the highest city in all of Israel.

The food was fantastic. The rooms were very comfortable and well serviced. This was my third time staying in the hotel. This was the best! The rooms was renovated and very comfortable. Snacks and water are provided in room and the room was serviced each day to a high standard. The food was outstanding. I was really impressed and look forward return again in the future. Bottom line: a big improvement in the overall experience.

Hotel location is a tad far from the center of the old city.

Excellent location with spectacular views, extremely clean room with spacious bathroom, very good water pressure, tea kettle and small fridge, and absolutely amazing breakfast! Also, private parking inside the courthouse in addition to free street parking is a big PLUS!

Noise from the construction right across the street is very loud and annoying— banging starts at 7am and continues well after sundown.

    The view & the silence.

It was noisy from the neghbor room.

I have never been in a hotel with so much charm and uniqueness. Every room is different, the exact opposite of a modern Tower block hotel. We needed to sleep over in zfat for one night, and booked the hotel at the last minute. The price was very reasonable, the service excellent, the hotel was a wonderful surprise.

Nice rooms, modern design and gorgeous views of the mountains.

Long way’s walk to the rooms especially if you’re in the other building. There is no elevator and you need to shlep down and up-it’s quite a walk. The staff was not good to me. They did not respect my time or my concerns. Check-in on a Friday afternoon was incredibly long and for no reason at all. You can see enormous lines waiting to check in with fights ensuing; in addition, apparently Dan has a policy to charge vat (tax) even for tourists if even one child’s visa slip is not presented (normally only the person making the reservation needs to present a passport and tourist visa) and although they said they we would refund the vat if I later produced it, they did not and they wouldn’t even reply to my several emails and comments.

Fantastic location. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The facility was gorgeous (although the swimming pool was closed and they were fixing a plumbing issue)! Breakfast was plentiful and really delicious with great staff!

Swimming pool was closed and they had to fix a plumbing issue but this didn’t detract from our enjoyment

    Good location excellent breakfast. Clean

Rooms are old and need updating. Too many stairs

We have stayed here many times. Beautiful views , great breakfast, good location

Room showed some wear and tear

    7BrucePosted on: 6-5-2025

    Great breakfast

Check in is not efficient. They get confused between Israel guests that pay VAT and foreign guests that do not. Compared with check in at other hotels its terrible. Front desk know nothing about the area. Bath / shower is very in convenient

Great location near the old city. Each building has its own unique story and history. The breakfast was excellent and the pool was quiet and clean. We came for peace and quiet and found it ?

Gym and Spa facilities were limited.

the breakfast was nice and the location is great, the grounds are ok

unfortunately the hotel and the staff did not meet my expectation, the staff was not helpful or accomodatinng and the hotel had some major minuses on property however the staff was the worse. very diappointed because i was looking for a great stay

Clean, beautiful grounds & pool. Delicious scrumptious meals.

The rooms are new & pristine

    7jodiePosted on: 5-16-2025

Historic hotel, well maintained. Very clean . Friendly staff.

There was no food available aside from breakfast. Absolutely nothing at all. We arrived on a Friday and thought the hotel would at least have had bread, fruit or something to buy to eat. No options. Because the city is ultra religious there were no options anywhere. Maybe tell your guests who have a Friday arrival to bring food.

The breakfast was excellent and so was the landscaping and historical atmosphere!
