Akureyri Hostel

Good kitchen area for making our own dinner. Plenty of bathrooms and showers in the hallway. Comfortable stay with a sink in the room. Great value for a good price during our ring road trip.

The communication with the staff is absolutely terrible. On the day of our arrival, I texted the hosts in the morning but didn’t get a response. When we arrived on site and tried the check in code provided. It was not working with the front door. We spent 40 minutes waiting outside in freezing temperatures hoping we’d get a response from the hosts but didn’t receive one. Luckily another guest came and she was kind enough to share her code with us even though she wasn’t obligated to do so. Our code was working with the door of the room, so the hosts didn’t do something properly. I absolutely don’t recommend this place.

The hostel was clean and comfortable! It has a full kitchen with plenty of utensils, pot and pans. Also there’s a parking lot out back

The property was great but the hostel lacked communication. I messaged and emailed them with no response. Very frustrating

The restroom is next to the room, it was little bit noisy when people use toilet or take shower at midnight

Very nice rooms, kitchen, dining area. Next to supermarket.

Easy self check in. Comfortable beds. Our room was right next to a living room, the shared bathroom and shower which was very convenient.

The stairs to go upstairs were narrow.

Beautiful lobby and bathrooms, impeccably clean, good kitchen, really almost everything.

The locks for the entry were very hard to use and even the instructions on the door said you may have to try several times.

I liked the spacious bedroom. I enjoyed the big outside area. I found the kitchen and common areas big but cozy.

I did not like the price but then again it is one of the most affordable accommodations in this region at the time.

Our room and the common areas were spacious. The upstairs bathrooms are new and clean.

There's no dishwasher.

The price was alot cheaper the day before (tuesday). The bumb up the prices because there is a childrens soccer tournament.

We reserved a double room with a private bathroom and it was perfect! Very comfortable. We also appreciated the large common area and kitchen to prepare food.

For a hostel it was actually quite good. The beds were comfortable and there were facilities near by. The kitchen was decent size, however the dining area was quite big. It was close to a lot of activites and restaurants.

The booking details were incorrect and I had to call Booking.com because they had no receptionist

Location is great, almost city centre. A pleasant and functional interior design.

Evening and night can get a little noisy, earplugs recommended.

I was impressed how good it is considering how cheap it is. We only used it to sleep at night, so it worked well for us. There were sufficient toilets and shower rooms, even though the hostel was full, we didnt have a problem. The kitchen was well equipped, it was very well organised. I would recommend this to anyone.

The location and amenities are excellent.

There is no staff on site, if you stay in the lower level you can hear people in the kitchen some times after midnight which is a trouble if you are a light sleeper

Many bathrooms, large common space. Almost everything was brand new renovated. There was a nice display of icelandic wool processing craft.

Sometimes it would get noisy because of other guests in the common area. Rooms closer to the common space are exposed to the noise.

There was no employee making sure things were in order, which led to a bunch of teenagers getting drunk and trying to get in our room
