Pi Pa Hotel

Was a small hotel in a great location inside the city walls. Staff was helpful in every way.

The location was very convenient. Room was very clean. Breakfast was nutritious and sufficient.

The amount of hot water for shower needs to be taken into consideration if both of us need to shower one after another.

This hotel is wonderful. The room was beautiful and comfortable and the hotel feels like you are staying in a museum. There is beautiful art throughout that is well displayed and lighted. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. There is wine and beer available in the evening to enjoy at the outdoor tables and there is an excellent buffet breakfast in the morning. We could have stayed longer. The location is great as it is easy to access the city center

It would have been nice to have somewhere to hang up clothes apart from the few hooks on the wall.

Well located, nicely decorated hotel. If you can, for a group of two or three people, request the loft bedroom, which is spacious and has a double bed on the top floor and a single barrel on the ground floor.

One of the rooms for our family members (without window) was rather small and the construction noise from outside was way too loud.

Everything was perfect! The place was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The host was incredibly kind and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

The bathroom had a glass wall with an inadequate blind, so no real privacy.I would give this hotel a better review except they knew about ongoing construction, loud jack-hammering, drilling and scraping shovels from 7:30am until 7:00pm on the property and still put us in the room directly above it. Shouldn't have rented this room out at all. Really unacceptable.

Everything at the hotel was exceptional: the clean rooms, bathrooms, the delicious breakfast, coffee available all day (for a small fee), the location in the middle of the ancient city. The hotel staff was especially nice. Questions were answered in English (if an English speaker was available) or with the use of a translation app. We could book train reservations and a taxi ride to the Hanging Temple. The directions for using the city bus for the Yungang Grottoes were very good. All in all, I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a several-day stay.

Bathroom is a little small…

The ladies were amazing! They were funny and so helpful and kind!

Our room didn't have WiFi. It didn't work in all our stay and even our phone data wasn't working properly. For some reason,there wasn't a good signal in our room. The breakfast was limited but they have snacks all the time.

This hotel was incredibly beautiful! It essentially looked like an art gallery with rooms surrounding the halls. The staff were truly exceptional at every turn, it was right in the centre, steps from the main square, and the restaurant next door was fantastic. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough!

The hot water in the shower did not last very long, maybe a few minutes.

It is located right in the down town area so easy to walk around. Good restaurants nearby. Comfy beds and clean rooms.

This is our second time staying at this hotel. I am sure it not last time. Friendly staff, yummy breakfast, clean room, great location and strong culture!!! Last but not least - they have a little museum!

The location was ideal and easy to find, with everything just a short distance away. The staff were very friendly, and the room was impeccably clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was delicious.

This Hotel is the place to stay in Datong. The staff were so helpful even on my last day offering to drive me to the Station as it was a Sunday and no Taxi in time. They were truly outstanding, kind and so warmly welcoming.Datong is a simply gorgeous Ancient City and Pipa Hostel is right in the very best location.

It was all first class and very low price especially considering the wonderful location, breakfast and staff.

Excellent location and interesting in itself. The rooms were super clean and the price was very reasonable for what it got you.

There was some work being done outside the hotel around 9pm which was quite loud but then it stopped soon after we asked when it would stop! Our lack of Chinese was matched by the staff’s lack of English so no conversations were had which was a shame. The pillows were either super soft or brick hard.

Very cozy and warm which was perfect for winter time! Location is really good. They have lovely staff and one woman speaks great English. They gave clear instructions to take the bus to the Yungang grottos! Decent breakfast :)

Lovely hearty breakfast that was fresh and healthy. The location was fantastic. Smack bang in the middle of the Ancient City. What more could you ask. A joy to walk around and it came to life in the evenings. Just a walk away to the local restaurants. Food was so good that evenings there were queues. But so worth it. Taxis practically on door step that took you to Hanging Temple and Grottoes. Would recommend a personal day to each location. That way you can take the full impact and enjoy the day without having to rush around.

No space for clothes and little hanging space. But we were only there for a couple of nights. So living out of the suitcase was no problem.

Amazing place in central Datong. Friendly and helpful people, nice breakfast and cosy rooms!
