    Pros +

    • Location amd staff was friendly
    • These locations in Cambodiareally need to be double checked!
    • The staff were lovely but unfortunately could not speak much English. The location was excellent.

    Cons -

    • Cleanliness was problemRoom was not cleaned even for a single day. The bedsheet, quilt and pillow have some marks like not prolerly cleaned and toiletries not available after first day
    • Could not find property. There is a listed address that the maps did not pick up, also there was another address through Google maps that also wasn’t the location. The only soma hotel I found was completely shut down and empty. I walked around the streets for 35 minutes looking everywhere and also yes I called the number and did not reach anyone.
    • There was effectively no hot water. If you raised the temperature above 30 degrees it tripped the lights. This meant a fairly cold shower at all times. The stairs going to the room were filthy. It created a very poor first impression. The room is not serviced every day, despite a multi day stay.

The staffs are friendly. The owner is very accommodating.

Monkeys sometimes visit you early in the morning in your balcony?

I had a wonderful stay at Soma Hotel! The views of the river are absolutely breathtaking, making it the perfect place to unwind and take in the scenery. The rooms are spotless, with every corner meticulously cleaned. The bed strikes the perfect balance between firmness and comfort, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. What really made my experience exceptional was the staff. They are warm, friendly, and go above and beyond to make sure guests feel welcome and well-cared for. Their accommodating nature made my stay smooth and enjoyable.I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience, and I will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommend Soma Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable getaway!

A lot of stairs but it is good for you to get your steps in!

Really nice room with tiled floor, very big and bright. Staff was very kind, good location. I would definently stay here again!

busy/noisy road outside, the balcony was really big and nice, however, monkeys would often be there so I couldn’t sit out there, some sort of fence would be very practical! Also maybe a table and pillows for the balcony chairs would be nice. Light in the bathroom was very poor.

All are good, the staff is friendly. This hotel has a very nice river view. There are many shops and restaurants around. We could go to those places by walk.

Awful stay and awful customer service , they don’t speak English

Staff doesn’t speak English / if you want to go out at 3:00 am the doors of hotel are locked so you have to wake up the staff so they can unlock the doors.I had one light bulb working out of 3 in the bathroom. That one light bulb died out and they couldn’t replace it, so the lighting was very dark in the bathroom which made it hard to shave . They asked me to pay the full amount for a one week stay on my second day. Once I paid the service changed by the staff and they were less friendly. The staircase and hallways of the hotel are filthy dirty, they don’t vacuum the carpet and I don’t think they have any windex because all the faucets in the shower weren’t cleaned when I checked in.The staff seems to be related so there are always kids in the lobby playing games on their phones. If you don’t look super white they will treat you differently , because they dislike people with dark skin and will be hesitant (most Cambodian people are racist) I wouldn’t recommend visiting this country in general because the customs officers are racist and will repeatedly scan your passport and question it’s validity is you are from a western country but have a dark complexion. People will also ignore you in restaurants and not give eye contact to darker skinned people.Overall disgusting slave culture probably because of the monarchy.

Very location, convenient for guests as it's next to city center and night market

The room was a really hard to go up by stairs, better to lift, for safety should have lift.

    8BenjaminPosted on: 7-16-2024

Nice, helpful staffRoom was nice with big balconyInside you could put a lock if you have one with you. Liked that little extra safety.Only few steps to night life and markets

Steep stairs, no liftNo shelf in the shower to put shampoo or soap.Walls of the room were dirtyOnly one towel for a double room.First agreed on 30$ two nights. Paid it.Later they tried to get another 4$ I declined. A deal is a deal.

You can't have a better accomodation for the price you pay, and the lovely sisters who are keeping the hotel are really hard workers, and incredibly humble and helpful people! They've been always patient and ready to meet my needs, and always cheered me with a smile and a positive attitude.I couldn't find anything cheaper around, and you get exactly what you pay for: a clean room and a modest hotel very close to the city center! I would recommend this structure to anyone!

    Nothing notable to mention!

    5NotprivatenotrarePosted on: 6-18-2024

    location, bedding, view

if you put your hand between the doors and the floor front – 4 fingers can come through , so could be more private

A little out of the way from central Phnom Penh but convenient for the Boat to Chau Doc, Vietnam.

It was a little run down; probably due to the consequence of Covid19. There is no lift. (I was on the 5th floor)

location at riverside, staff is liberal and very friendly

did not get the booked room, but then discount

    6RajPosted on: 5-10-2024

    Cheap and good location

No lifts, 4 flights of stairs!

    8DavidPosted on: 4-28-2024

Best location, close to boats, shops, temples, visa, banks, bars, massage and markets. Staff are very helpful and they have a small store at the entrance for soap, water, cigs, alcohol etc. wifi was strong and streamed Netflix no problem

Traffic noise was excessive, you are on a main road and near several bar streets. Best to snooze during the day I had an easterly facing room heated up quick in the morning. I missed having a refrigerator and tv in the room as it was very hot that week.

    1AlmozninoPosted on: 4-27-2024

The hotel extremely disappointing... it disguises in its advertising that the rooms do not have an exterior window... and advertises as the room has a balcony with a view to the river... the room does not have a balcony at all, the balcony is generally in the corridor, I think you should make sure that the hotels you advertise clearly state if The room has an external window or no window at all, so that we the consumers can decide whether to rent the room or not

I was very upset when I saw that I had booked a room without a window or a balcony, as it appeared in the room's advertisement...and I had to walk around in the terrible heat outside and look for an alternative hotel
