- The restored medieval building which once housed Knights Hospitallier was magnificently brought back to life! The breakfast offered new Greek taste treats every day.The hosts, Katarina and Zafer, are dear sweet people who were daringly professional, very personable, and most helpful in offering suggestions and solving problems.
- Katerina was so sweet and helpful. You could tell the hotel was a labor of love. Breakfast every morning was delicious. We would definitely stay there again!
- We loved the charm, the history and the owner/hostess, Katarina. She was gracious and so helpful arranging transfers for us. Upon our arrival she greeted us and invited us to sit with her to learn about the Town and offer recommendations. She truly cares that her guests enjoy their stay! Breakfast was exceptional! She served a variety of items in a peaceful and beautiful setting. The location was perfect, right in Old Town! The bed and pillows are so comfortable! It is a historic building that has been renovated to provide all the modern amenities, yet it has kept its historical ambience. It is absolutely gorgeous! I loved it! I will definitely recommend this boutique hotel to all my Friends! And I hope to come back and stay here again!
Cons -
- We could have stayed longer than four days! We liked everything and plan to return for another stay.
- Nothing at all. Our stay was perfect!
- The only very minor point was that the bath towels were a bit on the rough side, but it really didn’t affect our stay at all. We understand that for a family-run Airbnb, frequent towel replacement can be costly, and everything else more than made up for it.

My fiancee and LOVED our stay at Porolithos Boutique Hotel for its warm, genuine hospitality and beautifully designed room that felt both comfortable and thoughtfully curated. Breakfast on our balcony was a real highlight with fresh, generous, and beautifully arranged with care each morning. Zafeiris and Katerina (and their daughter) made us feel truly welcomed, turning a lovely stay into a memorable regal experience. Neatly tucked away in a quiet area of Old Town, Porolithos gave us a glimpse of what life may have been like many centuries ago. From the masterfully renovated property to carefully selected decor, every space in the property left us in awe. We were able to easily access by foot all areas of Old Town and the surrounding areas. No issues whatsoever with noise, safety or access. We walked all the way to the Acropolis, St. Stephen's Hill and other areas well beyond the Old Town walls.Whether you are looking for a cozy romantic getaway or a nice quiet area for family, we strongly recommend a stay at Porolithos Boutique Hotel. We have visited many beautiful places in the past few years (e.g., Seville, Istanbul, Venice, Nice, Lisbon, etc.) and our stay with Zafeiris and Katerina may have topped all of them! 10/10!
Nothing at all. Our stay was perfect!
Katerina was an excellent host. She offered a breakfast with a variety of options including fresh fruit and yogurt everyday along with eggs, sandwiches, omelets, pancakes and more. She helped us locate restaurants since we were there in December when most places were closed. And she arranged a fabulous tour guide.
One of the most amazing experiences in a hotel- it felt like home, a good friend or family member’s house. Our host was so thoughtful about all the details and made our stay so memorable. The breakfast was amazing. The hospitality was superb. Just fantastic all around. I will definitely stay there again when we go back to Rhodes.
This was one of the loveliest hotel stays I've ever had. Katerina is incredible! Upon arrival, she shared the history of the city, gave us recommendations, and then made arrangements for us to take a boat trip to Lindos the following day. Because the boat trip was leaving early, she got up early and made us the most delicious breakfast before we headed out for the day. She arranged both of our airport transfers (which is important because the taxi drops you outside the ancient city and Katerina arranges for an electric golf cart to pick you up and bring you to the hotel). The bed is very comfortable and the outside courtyard where they serve breakfast is out of a storybook and every single thing they made us was incredible. And they only have FIVE rooms so book in advance because you do not want to miss this!
This is a family owned and run boutique hotel. It is a newly renovated villa with only a few rooms. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were amazing. The location is near a plaza of the old city with all the restaurants, shops, nightlife, and the docks for daily excursions to nearby islands ... but in a quite location. We loved our visit.
My wife and I stayed at Katarina’s place for two nights, and it was a wonderful experience. Katarina and her family—Zafeiris, Dimitra, and Spyros—were incredibly hospitable and made us feel truly welcome. Their 800-year-old home is absolutely beautiful, and the breakfast was superb! They even provided us beach towels upon request.
The only very minor point was that the bath towels were a bit on the rough side, but it really didn’t affect our stay at all. We understand that for a family-run Airbnb, frequent towel replacement can be costly, and everything else more than made up for it.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and staying at this hotel is an entire experience! It has been beautifully restored and you can tell Katerina has paid attention to every single detail. As hosts, they go above and beyond to provide a memorable experience, and are there for anything you could possibly need. The breakfast here is also incredible!! I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. A MUST STAY!!
Everything about Porolithos was magical. Katerina, the owner and host, helped us arrange transfer to and from the airport for a reasonable rate. She helped us with tips, made restaurant reservations, arranged a rental car, and greeted us with a smile every day. Breakfast was phenomenal every morning, freshly cooked with both hot items and fresh fruit and juices. Her and her family restored the 14th century building and run the hotel. The location is quiet but just steps away from restaurants and all that the old town has to offer. I will plan my next trip to Rhodes around availability at this hotel.
We took public transport from the airport for a few euros (you can use your phone to pay with tap and go). Ride takes about 30-40 minutes. It puts you off in the middle of Rhodes Town. From there it was a 15 minute walk to the property. We use only backpacks to travel. If you are carting a suitcase, you should contact Katerina, the owner of the property, about arranging transportation. We travel a lot and had a difficult time finding the property because of Rhodes’ twisty-turny streets. You will be walking over some cobblestone streets and walkways and pulling luggage might not be the best. Once you find the door for the property (there are signs on the walls that you will see), ring the buzzer.Katerina was a supremely welcoming host. We were greeted with water and figs. She sat us down to go over the property and things to do in Rhodes. She provided a very helpful map of the entire island and Rhodes Town. She sent us a text with many recommended sites and restaurants. Finally, she checked with us about any food allergies so her provided breakfast would not be any trouble. She showed us to our room describing the renovations that had taken place to make the ancient building into her beautiful boutique property. We had a problem with one of our sightseeing tours we booked, and Katerina spoke to the tour representative on the phone to help us straighten it all out. She even told us if we were going to buy any expensive souvenirs, to call her and she would get us a better price. You really feel like you are staying in an ancient stone castle. The room preserved much of the old construction while updating it with a very comfortable bed & pillows, plenty of lights, a safe, a cold A/C, a mini fridge, and a nice bathroom with a big shower. There were waters, a beer, and a couple of snacks provided.I had forgotten we had paid for breakfast. And, wow, what a surprise.
Nothing was wrong about this property.
The property has been beautifully restored. Tasteful decor and accents. In the middle of Old Town within walking distance of historical sights and tons of shops and food. The owners are sweet and thoughtful people who go the distance to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast is amazing including local produce, eggs, breads, yogurt with toppings, & beverages. All delivered and displayed with detail to your alfresco dining table. Communication was perfect and prompt. They even arranged a transport to the airport and sent us off with a souvenir to remember our time with them. I highly recommend Porolithos!
This is a beautifully redone building from the era of the knights. The room, and bed, were very comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional, served in their courtyard. Katerina and her husband were the most gracious guests. You'll be amazed at the effort and care that went into their restoration of Porolithos (completed just as COVID started) and upon leaving to will be happy that you stayed and supported them!
Wonderful location and room. Hosts are excellent and provide over the top breakfast and help with the city. You will enjoy essentially a refurbished mini castle. It was awesome. Wish we stayed longer !
What an amazing experience! It is a true privilege to be able to sleep and stay where the Knights of Old once laid their heads. This was all made possible by our hosts, Katerina and Zafeiris who purchased and renovated the property to its present exceptional state. We deliberately chose the smallest room (we think) because of the stone arched ceiling. While small it was still super comfortable with everything we could need. Breakfast was likewise amazing and definitely enough to see us through to dinner. Everything was fresh and tasty. Rhodes Old Town is a place we would highly recommend everyone sees when visiting Rhodes. The history is tangible and one is unlikely to see locations such as the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights in such pristine condition after all of this time. To return to Porolithos, the secret ingredient to make the stay as amazing as it was is the obvious love that both Kristina and Zafeiris have for their property, city and country and their desire to share that with their guests. Nothing is too much trouble. We are so lucky to have found the hotel and to meet them. It will remain the highlight of our stay on Rhodes.
There is nothing about Porolithos that we did not like. What we learned however, is that getting to the hotel if one is dropped off at one of the gates of the old town is or can be a struggle if one has a fair amount of luggage. That was the case with us however upon leaving we accepted Katerina's offer to arrange transportation to the airport and hence we were picked up by electric buggy at the hotel and driven to the gate where we transferred to the taxi she arranged. It may have been a little more expensive but, if one is loaded with luggage, it is highly recommended to accept Katerina's offer to arrange transportation both ways.
The location, the history, the hospitality. Katerina gave us some great restaurant recommendations and shared with us the history of the beautiful hotel. The breakfasts were amazing, as we had the room with the private patio. What a treat! The attention to detail did not go unnoticed. This is the kind of place that puts the exclamation point on your experience in Rhodes.
There was nothing we didn’t like
Never seen such a nice hotel, which is run by such friendly and attentive owners. The breakfast was excellent. The entire place was restored and decorated with much love for details. We will come back!
Katerina and her husband are wonderful hosts. We felt welcome at once. The breakfast is excellent and served in their beautiful garden. Katerina was very helpful if we had questions regarding finding something in the city.We had a lovely stay.
The bed was a bit too soft for our taste.
The location was perfectly situated right in the heart of the Old Town. The hotel was charming and historic and exactly as pictured. Our hosts were amazing, helpful and so attentive. We loved every minute of our stay and can't wait to go back. Breakfast was delicious and served outside every morning to a time that suited. They organised our boat trip to Marmaris and also our car hire. They also gave us an extensive list of recommendations for restaurants and attractions.
It was perfect, couldn't fault the hotel or location.
