- Loved the in room onsen! Rooms were very large! Staff were incredibly kind and attentive.
- The resort was absolutely amazing! From the attentive and super welcoming staff, to the amazing onsen and private onsen, to the ocean views and closeness to the beach. Even that we were the only foreigners there the staff did all their best to communicate with English and help us book taxis etc. The amazing chef prepared us vegetarian breakfast that was amazing! and the coffee was delicious too! So glad we came to this amazing place.
- This resort is spacious and features a private onsen right in the room. They also have a public onsen that you can reserve for private use.
Cons -
- Nothing! Just to mention that arriving without a car can require some advance planning, but we were able to get along with the hotel shuttle and with local taxis.
- Location is not too convenient except by driving. No restaurants close by, need to plan ahead of time where to dine.
- Nothing we did not like. Everything was great.

Facility is clean and staffs are friendly. Breakfast is very good. So is the coffee. Private onsen is nice and easy to reserve.

My family and I love every bit about our stay at Isana. The rooms and the views were amazing, the staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful, and the dinner and breakfast meals and service were exceptional! We are already thinking of returning again.
Nothing we did not like. Everything was great.
Very thoughtful service, genuinely helpful staff, beautiful rooms and delicious meals. We spent two nights here after a very busy few weeks of running around, exploring Japan and desperately needed the rest and relaxation we got here. We had a great time!
There wasn’t much we didn’t enjoy! We didn’t have a car and it’s a little far to other things but we had some nice walks around town and enjoyed the scenery! A lot of things are closed on Thursdays apparently too!
The room was great, really comfortable. There is outside shower and onsen in the room which is really nice. The breakfast was really nice!
There weren't very hot water in the shower itself (not the onsen) and it was cold outside, so it was too cold to take a shower. There wasn't dinner in the night we arrived and we had to find a place to eat.The public onsen is only available by time slots, to we really needed to plan our time.
Breakfast and dinner was delicious! Staff was kind and friendly! Room was relaxing
The breakfast was exceptional. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the view and location to the Jogasaki coast was outstanding
Wonderful getaway and location for some peace and quiet. Small, intimate ryokan but with lots of space and very inviting and comfortable. Beds and pillows are a little stiff compared to western standard. However, spacious room and love the semi-outdoor bath and patio area to enjoy and relax. Close proximity to coast/beach with lots of walking and hiking. Food at the property is also excellent, worth investing in. Would love to stay again.
This is a little gem with just a few rooms (maybe 10?) tucked away in Ito. We chose the half-board and the dinner was FABULOUS! So much more than we expected and probably the best Western-style dinner weʻve had at any hotel/resort in Japan. The staff was extremely friendly, our room was very spacious and itʻs located right next to the ocean (although not a beach, so no swimming).
After we were able to get into the room we originally booked, the stay was exactly what we had hoped for after several weeks of traveling and hiking in Japan. The room was comfy and large enough to spread out, while the star of the show was the private bath. We specifically chose a room with a bath that was large enough for my 6'4" husband while also giving us nice privacy and we were glad we eventually got it. The breakfast was wonderful--even if a few items weren't to our taste, such as the fresh squid and octopus. Many guests use the resort as a base for golfing, so almost deserted during the day. A nice stay that could've been slightly better without the initial frustration.
The staff/manager/whomever shifted our originally booked room several times which resulted in an incredibly frustrating initial experience. To make a long story short, a large group had booked many of the rooms sometime after we had booked ours. For fear that this large group would disrupt our stay, the resort reached out and offered us an "upgrade," a villa up the mountainside. After briefly considering, we ultimately declined, preferring our initial booking due to the size and style of the private bath, proximity to the coast (which we intended to visit), and ability to eat at restaurants in town--the villa was too remote for what we were looking for. When we arrived at Isana, they placed us in a completely different room than we had originally booked, and had actually given our room to a member of the large group. This new room was also technically an upgrade, but we did not like its location within the building (closer to the main road and overlooking a parking lot) and the bath (much smaller than may 6/4" husband could fit in). We had to request a room change as it was not what we had originally booked, and eventually got into our original room thanks to the kindness of the group member. We recognize that the resort was trying to make everyone happy, but they ultimately shifted things around too much, and the first 5 hours of our stay were frustrating, convoluted, and unnecessarily awkward. Ultimately the stay was pleasant and what we were looking for in the vacation-y portion of our trip (the portion that was a celebration of our 10 year wedding anniversary to be exact) but the email exchanges before we arrived, and the headache/worry once we did, placed a damper on our stay.
Nice spacious room overlooking the beach. Private onsen bath in room. Delicious Japanese breakfast.
Some of the furniture was a little dated.
This was our 2nd visit and we had another fantastic stay. The location is perfect for a relaxing weekend, really scenic and beautiful sea views. The open-air bath is the main appeal for us, followed closely by the food (dinner is a must if you stay here, definitely book as it's a highlight). The staff (shoutout to Uehara-san) are also super warm and helpful. We’ll definitely be returning again.
Wifi isn't great, so I mostly relied on my own data.
This is a small boutique hotel in a lovely coastal location. The food here is exceptional. The chef is very talented combining Japanese cuisine with a French influence. The dinner is memorable. Staff here are welcoming and attentive. The onsen facilities are great for couples who wish to enjoy the facilities together.
The hosts were exceptionally nice and accommodating. Super friendly. The location and spa facilities were excellent.
The only thing we didn’t like was that the bed was very firm/hard. This may be more our problem than the Isana’s.
The place was really clean & comfortable with friendly staff, and the private bath was very nice. Had a very good breakfast. The only thing we didn’t like is that the use of the bigger common bath was divided into 40 minutes time slot, and all slots were filled when we came back from dinner.
Staff was excellent. Pick us up and dropped us off at the station. Everyone’s wasExtremely nice and helpful. Dinner was amazing. Highly recommend. 5 star all the way. Our room had a Private Onsen outside facing the water which is a must!!We loved everything and highly recommend.
Nothing-all good
Near the beach, private bath, good food, excellent staff
The door to the private bath where we stayed kept on opening because of the wind coming from the open window. It would’ve been nice if there was a window to open and close by the private bath.
Everything was excellent as expected. The highlight was the private bath on the balcony, where we could enjoy the hot spring while listening to the ocean breeze and waves. Highly recommended for honeymooners. At night, you can even observe individual stars. The staff were very friendly as well. However, the Western-style course dinner had slightly heavy sauces. Also, compared to typical fine dining, the table decoration was somewhat minimal. I think it would have been better if they had focused on Japanese cuisine instead. Breakfast was Japanese-style and generally good, though I wished it had captured more of the characteristic Japanese simplicity, freshness, and elegance.
