MAUA Nusa Penida Bali

Rooms were good and airy, but very basic, not as cool as shown in the images. Breakfast was good, though the menu is limited and service a bit slow

Very friendly staffs welcoming and helping us to make our stay more comfortable. Great food, clean room and excellent massage experience.

I was satisfied for everything.

We stayed at a villa with a pool. It was beautifully designed and very comfortable. It rained for 2 straight days so having a space like that when outdoor activities were not ideal was a real treat. The restaurant served excellent food… slightly pricier but not much more than some of the fancier restaurants on the island.

We rated the location lower because the roads immediately connecting to the hotel were horrible. The island generally has bad roads but for a 5 star hotel, the roads right outside the property were one of the bumpiest we experienced.

The villas are absolutely stunning, spacious and beautifully designed, each with its own private pool that is cleaned daily by the housekeeping team, who are professional and attentive. The main hotel pool is simply magical, offering an incredible view that makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

The access road to the hotel is in terrible condition, making the arrival experience unpleasant. The restaurant service is far below the standard one would expect from a property of this level: dirty tablecloths, no still water available (only sparkling) for guests (something I have never experienced in any other restaurant), and waiters forgetting orders and coming back to ask again. We even had to ask twice for our cocktails before finally being served. A server spilled beer on my clothing without even offering a napkin, let alone compensating for the inconvenience. The staff were also noisy and chatting among themselves around the pool, which completely broke the atmosphere. On top of that, the dessert menu was placed on our table before we had even finished our main course – not at all the standard of service expected at such a property. All of this seriously undermines the charm of the hotel, and given the hotel’s isolated location, it is not easy to simply go elsewhere for lunch or dinner.

Staff were so much useless. I requested for an upgrade before I pay my booking, the provided me with the additional cost which was a lot. Then I payed for my already booked room and later I found the price for upgrade on booking is half what they mentioned to me after I paid. They said I can’t do the upgrade on booking and they didn’t even try to help. I went for lunch and told them to properly clean the room just after my check in as I found mosquito in the room. After I came back from lunch they knocked asking can we clean now. Means no one cleaned while I was out. It was the only hotel in my vacation at bali (out of 5 different hotel) who request additional payment for food in room. The location is in the middle of nowhere and far away from harbor, at least 250k IDR for taxi to go from hotel to anywhere or even to hotel. Hotel is so much expensive compared to all other stays in bali or even in Nusa Penida, the room was so much basic with no bathtub nor balcony, only normal view to trees, but price is equivalent to private villa with private pool in bali at 4-5 stars hotel.

They need to make sure food is clean

I got poisoned from the seafood BBq at the hotel and I stayed in bed the next day medicals came to my room and provided healthcare

The staff were extremely nice and friendly, the room was very clean, and the facilities like the swimming pool and spa were excellent.

The sound proofing does not seem to work, and noise from the next room was a disturbance.

Had an amazing stay at Maua. Probably the best hotel, with the best views, I’ve ever been at. The pictures online doesn’t do this place justice. Looks so much better in real life. Got an upgrade to a Pool villa, and it was the most beautiful hotel room, I’ve ever stayed in. If you ever stay here, get the room with the private pool! Its worth it. Staff was great, got a really good massage at the spa, great food at the restaurant. 10/10 can’t recommend enough if you’re ever visiting Nusa Penida

If I have to say something, the gym could have some more equipment, like a a cable machine and some heavier weights. Other than that I have nothing negative to say.

They should offer day trips around the island.

I loved the privacy within the Villa, my private pool and main pool was Beautiful offering spectacular views to Bali.

I didn't like that i wasn't allowed to smoke by my pool at my private villa, the only place on site to have a cigarette is at the main pool bar.

This hotel was in the middle of nowehere and yet the service was a real 5* hotel. Food was delicious and juices. The private villa had a swimming pool and we had our breakfast there. It was magical to celebrate our Honeymoon. They have received us with a cake and a ornament in bed. It was excellent.

It is a bit noisy at night but at the same time is magical since we are in nature.

Very Nice and well thought property. We received an upgrade to a Pool Villa, thus I can only review based on this room. The panorama from the restaurant and pool was amazing and the food was good and on level with other 4-5 star hotels that we have visited throughout our trip around Bali. With regards to trips, transport and rentals the staff was really helpful and our driver Kadek was amazing and extremely cooperative.

I have not read this a lot, but for us it was a little bit annoying that the staff was inexperienced and did not have enough overseight to fulfill a 5 star standard. Empty Plates have been left on tables quite often, straws were missing, bread was forgotten before dinner and orders have only been taken on request. At the pool, one always had to run to the bar to request something. In general, not a big deal, but in view of the fact that at any time there were 3-5 employees standing around and chatting with each other, it was very unnecessary. From our point of view, the hotel needs a supervisor or guest manager with international experience. The credit card system has to be changed as well, the hotel does not work with a blockage system, so you would have to charge in advance with currency rate losses and receive possible overcharge back after 2 weeks.

Would’ve been perfect if food was better. Food was below average.

Everything is nearly perfect. My room with a balcony has good hill views. The facilities are well setup including a gym, a public swimming pool and spa rooms. Food here is awesome.

This property left us absolutely speechless. One of the most beautiful resort we ever discovered. The property it’s stunning … a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean and the island. The room were spacious , clean and extremely confortable.You had everything you need . Peaceful and relaxing .The restaurant was incredible and the food over the top . We loved it .Sunsets and drinks were a perfect combo .We also Tried the SPA and it’s been wonderful. They also organised everything for us from the ticket boat to the island to the trip around Nusa Penida . Thank you to Agus which Made our Tours even more unforgettable . Thank you to all the staff at MAUA for their beautiful service and amazing smiles . Try to believe it .

The gym aircon was ineffective and the room gets direct sun in the morning. The restaurant a la carte was decent but I’d probably suggest to pass on the buffet options as they were never as good.

Our stay with Maua was absolutely incredible. The team and facilities were amazing. Comfortable bed and rooms. The restaurant served beautiful food and drinks and the sunset view was spectacular.
