    Pros +

    • A nice clean comfortable bed.
    • Good location and good layout of the resort. Cheap and available at the last minute.
    • Good location, close walk to the beach. Food was good.

    Cons -

    • Loud country and western music in the dining and bar areas.
    • Room was unfurnished and cramped, which was even more basic than I expected. Hard to access PowerPoints for charging camera, phone, etc. Breakfast was advertised for 7am, but I waited until 7:25 before opening to find food sitting in the baine Marie .
    • Mouldy smell, broken towel rack, no air con remote (had to stand on a table to reach the settings), door handle was an old padlock.

    Good location, handy to beach

No TV in roomNo jug for making coffeeRoom was very basic which was related to the price, I guess.

I stayed in the Daintree without a car. PK's was therefore an excellent location for me. I was able to reach the nearby stunning beach (Cape Tribulation) in a few minutes and there were extensive walks on boardwalks through unspoilt tropical rainforest and mangroves, which were incredible. There was a shop next door with a range of foods and souvenirs. I enjoyed excellent meals and drinks in PK's restaurant/bar area and I also loved swimming in the pool. The staff were very kind and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there very much.

Honestly the good thing was the location

Would Not RecommendHonestly, the only good thing about this place was the location. Everything else was a major letdown. The room smelled musty the moment we walked in, and there was visible mold in several areas. By the next morning, we were extremely itchy and had bites all over, which was really concerning. The overall vibe of the place was just weird — it’s hard to tell if it’s supposed to be a hotel or a hostel. It didn’t feel clean, comfortable, or professional. We definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

The bar is good. Our stay had good breakfast included. Close to everything you need. A small shop beside the accomodation for gorceries and gifts

Rooms are not spectacular, but overall is ok. No space to hang or display clothes so we had to keep them in our bags on the floor the whole stay.

We stayed with our small dog but they apparently don’t want dogs anymore which I think is a mistake.

They apparently don’t want dogs to stay which is disappointing. They should take a dog deposit if there’s clean issues and limit to small dogs or certain rooms. But not change from dog friendly to banning them.

The whole place is a vibe. There's a peacock and goanna's walking around! It's like luxury camping because you don't have to sleep in a tent and you have showers a kitchen and laundry, you just have to pack all of your cooking utensils but there is even a large communal fridge to store cold foods. If you don't want the hassle of packing your own food you can buy your breakfast, lunch and dinner at the jungle bar or there is even a well stocked little grocer just across from the office. To top it off, the staff are approachable and so welcoming especially victor.

Location only , aircon work well, bed confortable.

Bar really run down, no equipment in the kitchen, common areas dirty, swimming pool not clean either.

    9AnthonyPosted on: 4-19-2025

The chef, Brian, made excellent breakfast for us. Bacon and egg roll, egg and smashed avocado. 3 free pool tables. Off grid.

Fan in the room speed was tooo fast or toooo slow.

    8JamesPosted on: 4-10-2025

Great location, next to a supermarket.

No cutlery and crockery in the shared kitchen is a little jarring.

    8JannePosted on: 4-8-2025

it was clean and nice, a little worn, but for the price, it's absolutely top notch. super cozy, with a lovely wide beach to walk on. The food was good, and we got HUGE portions, so you definitely don't go to bed hungry. I would definitely recommend this place, unless you're looking for luxus

The staff did their job and were polite. But they showed no smile, joy or interest.

After arriving at another accommodation to find the place had been abandoned, we made a last minute booking to PKs. We’ve stayed here before and really love it every time we do!

    10HannahPosted on: 3-6-2025

    Exceptional

Cockroaches in the room crawling on me at night and the room should have been a little cheaper , cob webs in showers

    4KittcsiPosted on: 2-3-2025

The booked room was quite pleasant, with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. Besides that, the chef was the only one who was kind and helpful during our stay. The breakfast was fine, but not too much.

The entire place is rundown and the garden is not maintained, even though it could be beautiful. The pool was filthy and most people only went in at night when it was harder to see how murky the water was.The shared kitchen was dirty, though luckily, we didn’t have to use it. When we took out the trash and lifted the bin, it was crawling with maggots—disgusting. The bartender was grumpy, never smiled and wasn’t helpful at all. The tables were dirty, so it’s best to wipe them down before eating anything there. The toilet at the bar remained in the same "dirty" state for two days (I’d rather not describe how it looked). I have no idea when they actually clean it.

    Close to dog beach

Everything else was terrible...not a dog friendly place as advertised. . We had to chain our dog outside the bedroom when we arrived..The person staying next to us complained that we had a dog and that it was on a chain so he would hear the chain all night..our dog is well behaved and not a problem to anyone..our dog ended up falling off the balcony a couple of times onto the ground because we had to shorten the chain to keep her on our side of the balcony..the man next door was aggressive towards us regarding having the dog there despite doing everything that was asked of us by the owner..then the owner came with two other men later that night, saying he heard a disturbance (which was the drunk man next door continuing to harrass me about the dog whilst i was sitting quietly with my dog outside). I was then bullied by the owner who tried to intimidate me and threatened to throw us out due to the distubance the man next door was creating...I have not been treated this poorly before... I am still in two minds whether to take this incident further. I was also told by the owner that he was to ammend the dog friendly status of the establishment advertised..this has not been the case. He is a liar and a bully. The man next door to us was not reprimanded for his harassment or appallingly behaviour towards me. Adding to this, the bar tender was down right unfriendly and unhelpful to all customers alike. The choice for dinner is fried food..or more fried food..no vegetables, salad or alternatives on the menuCalling this place a resort could not be further from the truth..this is a backpackers stay...nothing more.I cannot understand how this place still exists.I would strongly advise anyone thinking of booking this place, not to.Directly across the road is Ocean Safari which i highly recommend to all.

PK'S staff were nice and welcoming, we had a late check-in which they accomodated easily. The room was clean and tidy, for this price, it was good value. Breakfast was included and it was a beautiful and a good amount, so very satisfied. Overall a very good experience.

We would have liked to have a chair in the room, but other than that, it was good.

Staff were friendly. Location was good. Room was clean. Loved the jungle vibe. Great it was just on the beach.

Not their fault it smells musty. Rainforest is a moist place.
