Stunning little boutique hotel perched on the headland overlooking the main beach. Very modern and comfortable fit out with great facilities including rooftop pool and lounge area. Walking distances to pubs and restaurants.

Only downside was wifi was playing up when we were there.

Great spot, brilliant mid century style but modern amenities. The rooftop lounge and deck was lovely.

Parking a bit tight, elevator a bit slow but hey the rest of the place was brilliant!We were only there for one night so didn’t have a chance to enjoy the rooftop lounge and pool.

Fantastic view from the top level. Clean & very comfortable, would stay again.

Loved everything about this property. Location is perfect right near the beach & also easy walk to restaurants & bars. The service was impeccable & loved the little things like the welcome note, complimentary mini bar drinks & food plus the coffee, fruit & biscuits in the rooftop area. Pool on the rooftop overlooking the beach is amazing plus if you go during the colder months there is a great inside viewing area where you can sit & enjoy the views over a coffee or wine with speaker to play your own tunes. A must stay if you are visiting Yamba!

Only downside for us was we only booked one night on our travels through. Will have to come back to stay longer in the warmer months.

We loved the outstanding architecture, interior fitout, attention to detail and the pool and lounge sections. Everything has been very well thought through in designing and building this unique accommodation. Bedding and pillows were fabulous and the balcony.

The amount of time it took for the hot water to come through.

Only thing is I was confused why the yoga was on the same deck space as where the pool is so if you wanted a pre check out swim, you didn’t have anywhere to relax.

The attention to detail is fantastic, the Surf team have thought of everything. Decor and furnishings are tasteful and really cool. We loved the vibe here and wish we’d booked a longer stay. Gary the host was super helpful and welcoming.

Only thing we didn’t like was we only stayed one night ?. If we’d have known how cool this place was we would’ve stayed at least another couple of nights.

You couldn't get a better location, right next to the water. The hotel itself has been very tastefully renovated, beautiful. The communal areas were fantastic and to be able to hire ebikes etc was a great option. Highly recommend.

The bed wasn't very comfortable and our door needed to be pulled shut, the staff left our door open unfortunately.

The layout, comfort & functionality of the room were great for a 7-night stay. The 3rd floor facilities - the heated pool was appreciated as the beaches were not swimmable during our visit - the indoor and outdoor lounge areas were well equipped and comfortable spaces to sit have a drink/snack & enjoy the view were great. Undercover parking was an advantage, particularly when it was raining.

The rates are quite high for a place that does not serve food.

The Surf Yamba was such a beautiful place to stay. The rooms are perfectly designed and only the best in linen etc Beds /pillows are very comfortable, and a complimentary mini bar.We borrowed the e bikes that are available on the premises and rode around Yamba which was fantastic. The rooftop facilities are amazing... the views over the ocean are calming and just what you have access to up there is like nowhere else we have stayed. You have access to complimentary teas/coffees,byron bay cookies ,filtered water, icemaker and much more. There are books to read and games supplied to play, with plenty of comfortable seating inside and out, depending on what the weather is like. Garry was great from the word go. He had sent a message offering an early check in, set us up for use of the e bikes and always friendly and helpful throughout our wonderful stay. We will definitely be back here to stay as it is such a great experience Thankyou Surf Yamba you are definately unique and special...

It was our sort of hotel….small, boutique and had all the extra welcoming touches. Garry went the extra mile to make our stay more personable.

The hotel was in a fantastic location close to the beach and ocean pool. It was beautifully appointed with lovely linen towels and bath products and felt quite luxurious. I loved the design- they thought of everything!

The property itself is beautiful, with beautiful rooms, an amazing pool, fantastic rooftop lounge and a superb location with views. It was very clean and had great amenity. However, an experience at a hotel is more than just the facilities—it's about the staff. Unfortunately, the staff (? Gary at front desk) made us feel like an inconvenience, and his negative attitude overshadowed our entire stay.

I booked a one-night stay for March 13th via booking.com, but upon arrival, I encountered the worst welcome experience I've ever had. The man at the desk (possibly named Gary, though he didn't introduce himself) claimed our reservation was for the previous night and had sold our room. Despite showing him our reservation was indeed for that night, he blamed booking.com and reluctantly offered an upgrade, only to retract it because the room was "stripped." He then questioned our rate, making me feel like I had paid the wrong amount ("what rate is this?") before eventually finding us another room.He could have simply said, "There seems to be a mix-up. Let me fix that for you," but instead, he made sure we felt the full extent of his inconvenience.The property itself is beautiful, but an experience at a hotel is more than just the facilities—it's about the staff. This man was incredibly rude, arrogant, and lacked any sense of customer focus. When we checked out, he was nowhere to be found, and we saw him sitting across the road on a bench, staring at the ocean. Clearly, he doesn't enjoy his job and shouldn't be welcoming customers to the most expensive accommodation in Yamba.Two days after I got an email saying they missed us already (so fake) and to book directly next time. If the property hates people who use booking. com - then don't list the property on the booking site. Despite the property's beauty, I will never stay there again and would definitely not recommend it to friends or family purely based on Gary's attitude. If Gary leaves, then I would. I suspect Gary is the owner though.

Loved the proximity to the beach and to the town of Yamba.The roof top is a wonderful additive to The Surf. Just great to go up there, have everything available and to have a peaceful chill outLovely, friendly staff. Beds beautifully made, fresh towels a real treat

The elevator is oh so slow

The whole place is beautiful. Watching the ocean from the top floor or your balcony is a calming beautiful experience. Even with a cyclone looming

Stayed here with my family using 6 rooms for my daughters wedding. Having access to the upstairs general area was an absolute bonus and made our stay so much more comfortable. The Surf was close to everything we needed, restaurants and the beach, as well as the Pacific Hotel. The pool area was so very relaxing and a great space. Garry on the desk was very helpful when we needed him for our small extras. The ladies cleaning were superstars and helpful delivering food that we ordered via the website links that Garry supplied to us.

I thought the fridges in the room were a little on the small side, otherwise the rooms and amenities were beautiful. Can't wait to stay again.
