- The room was very modern, spacious and clean. I loved the aesthetic. Balcony was also great and got some awesome morning sunshine.
Cons -
- Expensive for a little hotel. Just paid the same to stay at Crown in Melbourne the week prior - with so many amenities.
- Nothing. We had a great stay.
- Not huge, but only one elevator. Thankfully we were here during the low season so it didn't bother us much at all.

Aesthetically beautiful
Lift was brokenStaff could been friendlier. Room was very noisy at night from restaurant/bar below. Double glazed glass would have been beneficial
The location is excellent for access to the town shopping and restaurant area. It’s not a beach hotel which is some distance away.
The staff were inconsistent and misinformed us on some matters/rules regarding the hotel. We made some decisions based on this information. This led us to be chastised by other members of staff and when we informed them what we were told we were dismissed and told off. “They’re wrong you can’t do that!”Breakfast service slow and parking is not included, it’s first in best dressed or last in use the disability car park, after that park on the street. Parking on the street is at a cost of $5.00 an hour between 9am-6pm. So had to get up and feed the meter.
Great staff, location and comfortable bed & pillows. Breakfast and coffee also great, highly recommend the Prawn Nasi Goreng brekkie. Rooftop bar and pool is very well setup, a great spot for sundowners and to chill by the bar or pool.
Rooms are extremely dark, very little natural light coming through, lots of foliage on the balcony and not enough lighting in the rooms. Pool claimed to be heated, definitely wasn't.
Location, bed was comfy
The lift wasn’t working the entire stay, the room was noisy and a bad smell on the roof top
Everything!!
Lift was broken from cyclone so 100% not the hotels fault. Was fixed straight away!!
What an absolutely incredible hotel. The facilities and room were amazing, such a comfortable bed and the a la carte breakfast was to die for. The hotel was also in the centre of Byron Bay so very easy to walk everywhere. The only feedback I would say is that early morning, there was a bit of noise in the corridors from doors slamming but also on the road with what seemed like garbage trucks (which I know can’t be controlled).
Great Ambience
Although the Restaurant looked very inviting, we found the diner menu too restricting. We understand seafood is what most people love, we don’t, so unfortunately had to look elsewhere for meals.
Very friendly professional staff! Good central locationGood quality food and drink
We had such a lovely stay at Hotel Marvell and appreciated the thoughtful little touches which made our stay even more special. Everything in the rooms, from the herbal tea to the bath towels, is of such high quality. I wish we stayed longer!
Amazing hotel with breakfast included. Great location. Lifts were broke but staff helped with bags
Generally the hotel was great with good facilities and the staff were amazing and so helpful.
For a supposedly 5 star hotel, the rooms were tiny. No real seating areas, just the bed with a single chair or a bench seat, depending what room you are in. And the noise!!! Our first room was above the car park entry and we had a very noisy a/c unit from over the road that made it impossible to sit on the balcony due to the noise. We also were woken very early in the morning by the garbage collection truck. We were moved to another room, but were above the restaurant/bar and it was worse - so noisy. It was impossible to sit outside on the balcony during the day because of the noise and even with the door closed the noise was extremely loud. The roof covering the area below extends up above the 1st floor rooms that we were in and seemed to amplify the noises from below and we were woken every morning with the clatter of the restaurant - coffee machines, cups/plates etc. - something of a major design flaw I would say. It was awful - we could hear the detail of every conversation and had to endure a few very noisy groups. It really ruined the stay for us.The rooftop bar seems to only be open weekend's and they did not even have water to hand. We had to go down to the downstairs lobby bar (dripping wet) to get ourselves drinks. Again not really a 5 star experience.
Location was fantastic, rooms are spacious and top quality, comfortable, great energy in the hotel, even the corridors smelled amazing. Breakfast options were fantastic and delicious. I stayed during Cyclone Alfred but felt so well taken care of by the staff and the general manager, who went above and beyond to assure the guests safety and comfort. If I come back to Byron Bay, I will be booking in here again.
No negatives
Modern, good location, good breakfast
Loud music till late, WiFi too slow for remote work :/, unfriendly staff
Love the size of the property, the location is perfect, the staff are all so friendly and the rooms are perfect size and gorgeous fit out. We love the breakfast and the rooftop is great. The happy hour oysters are the best.
We had a fantastic stay to celebrate my 60th birthday. The breakfast each morning was superb. We loved that the hotel had limited number of rooms so it never felt busy. The rooftop pool was great and we made a lot of use of the bar up there too!
Our room was on the 1st floor above the reception area and on our first morning there was a large group having a breakfast meeting just below us and it was very noisy.
This hotel & its staff are AMAZING. I honestly don’t think we’ve stayed it such a gorgeous hotel for such a long time. All the small details & in room amenities are 5* luxury. Incredibly comfy beds, gorgeous linen & lonely large fluffy bath towels. We were there during cyclone Alfred & the team were incredible, they looked after us and consistently went above and beyond despite the challenging situation. A special thanks to James, Morgan & Gio who stayed on site and looked after all the guests providing 5* service and food. Can’t wait to visit again when the sun is out!
Stylish , good quality fitments and bedding .Small with friendly staff throughout Extremely comfortable bed
