- Nice old building.
- Unique building style and staff were very helpfull
Cons -
- The room air conditioner was very noisy and really needs updating as it didn't cope well with the nearly 40 degree Summer heat. The hallways felt like there was no air-conditioning at all. One of the glasses had lipstick traces on it so hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. Mattress was very soft.
- Dated amenities, meals overpriced.
- Limited air cond in hotel and grounds looking tired

Limited air cond in hotel and grounds looking tired
It was affordable after we lost power for 3 days. Staff were welcoming is located close to home
There was a spotlight outside our bedroom windows which made it bright inside at night and not sleeping the night before as we had no power and it was 35° made it difficult to sleep
What a beautiful building with lots of history and the service was outstanding. The restaurant was very high-quality.
Some old world charm to the building. The staff were friendly and rooms were clean
For a Mecure hotel I expected more form it. The decor is dated and the bar and kitchen area didn't seem open while we were there. The pool area needs some TLC and water was cloudy and didn't look like it had been cleaned
The staff were very friendly and great location
Multiple cockroaches in the room and the pool was unusable had I very slimy feel to the water
Staff were great, especially the kitchen and waitress
The mould in the ceiling on the first floor
Staff were amazing, room size fantastic.
The toilet was not clean on arrival and I had to clean it before use. Bed mattress was terrible
Night staff were great. Allowed last minute late check in. The property having so much history attached to it.
Bait and switch at the breakfast buffet. No longer a buffet, and the cooked breakfast wasn’t worth the cost. The item I purchased was sold as Eggs on toast with bacon. I received Powdered eggs, overcooked bacon and was told to cook my own toast. A beautiful historic building being left to run down. Wouldn’t say it needs a full refit, but there are some areas that need a good deep clean, paint and some minor maintenance. Walked into the downstairs bar, just doing a tour of the place. Found the morning manager and what I think was the cook sitting down watching the tv with their bare feet up on chairs.
The common areas were renovated nicely and the location is really great if you want to venture into Maitland or Hunter Valley.
The building definitely needed some TLC. The skirting boards were all damaged and in the bedroom and the room smelt a little bit musty. The outside of the building definitely needs some maintenance with all the weeds over growing around the pool and entranceway. I think the AC in the bedroom is also on a timer which made it difficult on a +40C day as it kept turning off and wouldn’t turn straight back on.
Great location for us. Good pub within walking distance. Pool was good in the heat.
It was a little tired and needs some TLC. The pool tiles are coming off. The chairs around the pool a but grubby. Breakfast was ok but would like to have more variety.
The swimming pool area was lovelyThe safe did NOT lockThe restaurant was closed and I didn’t have a car to dine outMost restaurants were closed on Monday night so this should be the very night the hotel rest should open.
The staff need cheering up. The bar service was sub optimum and closed at 2030.Having wooden disposable utensils in the rooms felt rather meanA cafe serving snacks and cakes and decent coffee
Gorgeous hotel, Very clean room with great views
No cutlery, plates & robes provided
Loved the very old building and the open expanse landThe shower was hot with a strong flow of hot water
Mattress was too firmRestaurant was closed for the evening meal and it was necessary to drive to find food
Micdd we old interesting building.
Old and broken appliances and mould and filthy coffee machine that didn’t even work. Other occupants had been yelling all night long witch didn’t really mind until they were at the door and pretty sure there might have been sneaky cameras in the room but just left it alone and left at checkout time. Will not return or recommend. Also paid for the large room and only received a very small room that was not at all anything the size or same kind of furniture in that room and when I asked the desk he moved me to another room that was also not the room I paid around $100 extra to have. I satisfied and unsatisfactory I would like a refund please
The pool and outdoorsPlenty of seating in areasClean and close to town
I booked a executive king room the pictures did not match the room I got and the price I paid should of been cheaper
The gentleman on reception was welcoming and helpful.
I’m not sure how this place is part of the Mercure it’s extremely unkempt, facilities run down and cleanliness below standards. PowerPoint in room was unsafe, spa was filthy, pool falling apart, grounds around untidy, mould on ceilings, view from bedroom window was the church, shower screen broken, the entire place needs renovating and a good cleaning.
The property is very old world and quite grand. Lovely decor, rooms are large and well equipped. Definitely worth staying though the grounds need a lot of work.
Very comfortable room. Great shower and the building has lots of character.
The grounds outside were a bit neglected
