    Pros +

    • Larger refrigerator in the room

    • Worst service and complete lack of respect, still no apology or ownership for the attitude received.

    Cons -

    • No AC, no tissues, no chairs in the room
    • More Heater need to be install, it’s was quite cold during night. Did not had good sleepBut all the facilities were nice
    • Terrible service and a lack of professionalism. immediately accused of adding an extra person in our room whilst this was not true. Due to Mardi Gras weekend different rules regarding people on the property had been put in place, which was completely understandable, although considering the owner had not notfied us of these changes prior to arrival we were not aware we could not have another friend on the property during the day with no intetion to stay overnight as this friend had booked elsewhere. Considering any other time you are allowed to have people come to your room during the day, the owner did not need to be so rude. After we kindly explained this was not the case he pulled out a sheet of rules which prior to arrival none of us had never been given as if we were meant to know this being our first time staying in ohakune during mardi gras. The owners proceeded to demand he leaves the property immediately before giving room keys or the police would be called and we will all be removed from the property, and that "he should not even be here now" as if we were ever made aware of this. Regardless the "rules" in place were not the issue it was the fact it was our first time staying and were not made aware of these before. We had no issue respecting the rules in place and had no intention of trying to add an extra person to stay the night without paying. The lack of respect shown to customers who are paying a huge price up over 5 times the price as usual for a low budget motel is pathetic, they should be grateful for the money the weekend generates.

    Great location and beautiful surroundings.

We had to remind the staff for the breakfast we already paid for. Since the reception was almost unattended because of Easter, I had to call and request for breakfast . Just felt slightly awkward to have to do that. However , the host was very nice and arranged for the forthcoming days with the prompt breakfast.

    Very clean, comfortable bed, quiet

A nice hotel in Okahune with easy access to the volcano. Clean, comfortable, spacious.

The hotel is a long way from the town centre and so a car is essential.

Went to the beer festival and it was a short walk to Kings Pub

Our room was next to the smoker area

Very basic accommodations but exactly as advertised and expected. Staff very casual, friendly. Clean and well maintained. Easy walk from train station and about 3 km walk into town. Ohakune was a surprisingly enjoyable 2 days (especially the Old Coach Trail ride) and very nice way to break up the long Great Northern from Auckland.

Great location with parking in front of room. Easy walk to various eating places. Good cooked breakfast available on site. Slept in single bed by choice and had a solid 9 hour sleep

Good location for those heading to the NP. The town center is 1.5 km away but not much to see. Okey facility that has kitchen in room. It is much better to go to the nice restaurant 50 meters down the block and spend the time on that big deck for the evening since the motel room is very small.

Best bed that we've slept in so far on this trip. Supportive mattress, large king size. The room was spacious and the kitchen and bathroom were separated from the living area.

Nothing. Although if it had been winter time I would have been looking for a heater for the bathroom.

    9DavidPosted on: 3-5-2025

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was lovely and there was a great kitchen and living area. There was even a pool table (2 dollars). The location was great and there are shops a short drive away. I would recommend.

There was good parking but quite a steep slope in places.

Stayed for the Goat Tongariro Adventure Race - perfect location.

Couldn’t get the TV to work - didn’t matter tho.

    5HimaPosted on: 2-25-2025

The location is very convenient to Tongariro national park

We stayed in the main building, and it fit very noisy the first night. Not that anyone was partying, but the walls are very thin, and you can hear everything!

    7KirsteenPosted on: 2-17-2025

    Very friendly and capable staff

The toilet seat was broken and moved when sat on - too tired to complain and move rooms

    10KatrinaPosted on: 1-25-2025

Very friendly staff. Room had everything we needed. Nice quiet location.

The rooms were quite warm as this is obviously a winter location, so we did have to sleep with the windows open, which we did not mind doing because of the quiet location.

Well located a short drive from town, friendly welcome, super comfy beds, warm shower. We’d stay again.

Was a bit cold in the room but the warm blankets on the bed made it cosy.

We stayed for a night on our way back home. Ohakune is a nice area. Walked to the Town and had a coffee. Had Dinner at the Powderhorn Restaurant. It was Great.

    All good.
