    • Nice view...Parking near the room
    • Excellent. Would highly recommend the suite room. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our honeymoon, and thank the staff for making our stay so special. We loved the spacious room, the sunsets, the alpacas and the whole feel of the lodge!
    • My husband and our 6-month-old son stayed at the Family Unit at the Lodge on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The staff were very helpful. We told them we were going to arrive late after the check-in time and they had our room ready and available making it easier for us to settle in once we arrived. The room was clean, spacious, warm, and had a nice view out the back. Housekeeping was also provided daily. There were a lot of clean towels and the bed was so comfortable. The small kitchen had all the basic kitchenware that we needed to prepare our own meals for the 2 days. The location was very convenient for us it's close to the Tongariro crossing and just 20 mins away from the Whakapapa Ski Park which we visited. There is also a convenience shop 2 minutes down the road. We also made a day trip to Lake Taupo and back which was just an hour's drive away. Continental breakfast is also served every morning for $15. Highly recommend the lodge if you're planning a trip to Tongariro or the National Park.

    Cons -

    • Toilet and bathroom .No wifi in the room , as promised
    • There's nothing we did not like. Had an amazing time.
    • Far from other amenities. We were able to drive ~30 mins to the grocery store before it closed to get enough food to m take our stay comfortable.

Proximity to Tongariro National Park: The lodge is well located for those planning to explore the Tongariro region.Friendly Host: Maria was welcoming and helpful, offering great local tips and making sure we had what we needed for a comfortable stay.Clean and Cozy Rooms: The accommodations were simple but comfortable, with a kitchenette, private bathroom, and good heating.

Unreliable Internet: The Wi-Fi was very slow and intermittent, which was frustrating even for very basic use. The worst in our entire 30 day trip in NZ! While the lodge caters to outdoor travelers, a reliable internet connection is essential nowadays—for weather updates, maps, communications, or even just planning the next day’s activities.Road Noise: Rooms close to the main road suffered from noticeable traffic noise, especially at night. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs.Lack of a Comfortable Seating Area: The unit did not have a sofa or proper seating area in the living space (only a double bed), which made it less inviting for relaxing indoors after a long day outside. No luggage racks.Dated Facilities: Some parts of the unit felt a bit worn, like the older kitchen appliances and low water pressure in the shower. Nothing major, but could benefit from a refresh.

Very nice staff, perfect location for the Tongariro alpine crossing hike, the motel was quiet and comfortable. We took advantage of the complementary 30 min hot tub session, a welcome addition after a 3 hour hike we did in the morning!

    Nothing, it was great!

Nice spacious lodge, ideal location for doing the Tongariro crossing, and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful. A couple of downsides were inconsistent WiFi and a poor shower. I'd have given a rating of 9 if these two things were fixed. Overall, still a nice stay, and would recommend.

The complementary spa right after the Tongariro crossing was amazing to recover our legs!

    10ZoyaPosted on: 4-10-2025

Great location only a few mins drive to park and ride for Tongariro alpine crossing. V friendly staff and well equipped kitchenette.

Decent sized room, lovely views at the back onto fields, location is fantastic (close to National Park village), overall chill atmosphere. Friendly owners. Clean, and with a perfectly functional kitchenette with a couple of hobs, microwave, etc.

Nothing - a highway closure meant that more traffic was being diverted past the property than normal, but it didn't bother us too much

    9SarahPosted on: 3-11-2025

A cute rustic lodge. Close to the National Park and a place to eat.

Bathroom was a little small but very clean

    9MaureenPosted on: 3-11-2025

A huge helpful welcome. A good nights sleep. A spacious room.

A temporary road diversion meant there was more passing traffic than usual. An exceptional circumstance x

Location to the walking tracks and other places on Mt Ruapehu we'd come for. Kitchen facilities were good, good lighting in all the rooms, ample storage for 2 people (But could be a bit tight for the 5 the rooms are rated for). Double glazing ensured the rooms were warm enough and kept the traffic noise to a minimum.NOTE: Long term highway 1 closures north and south of Taupo directed all traffic through National Park during our stay so the huge number of heavy vehicles passing by the lodge 24/7 tested the sound proofing severely.

Bathroom doors pressure catches very noisy. Poor hot water flow in the shower (cold was ok but who wants a cold shower at 1000 metres?). Minimal sound proofing between units. Parking outside the units a bit tight.

    Great location and clean

A little road noise but not the property's fault
