Pros +
- location is very peaceful and quiet
- Our host, Brad, was so so helpful! We arrived on our daughter's sailboat, and we didn't realize how far away from Avalon we were. We tried to get a taxi from the Kerikeri Boat Club, but couldn't. I called Brad and he came right out, driving 20 minutes to come and pick us up, and then he dropped us at the fabulous restaurant right across from the Stone Store in The Basin. Then he came back and drove us to Avalon. After our stay he drove us back to the boat club again. Above and beyond our expectations! AND, Avalon is amazing! It is a little paradise, with pools, a river, beautiful statuary, gardens. And the cottage was so very comfortable!
- Beautiful grounds, wonderful facilities, comfortable bed, AC was a godsend with the summer heat.
Cons -
- mosquitoes are expected with lots of trees nearby. i think it would be best to have all screened windows and sliding doors to keep the bugs out
- Somebody else's hair under the bed (ball of it), bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from previous occupant.
- The road to get to it is in need of a bit of attention, but it was drivable in our hired outlander.

It was a fabulous sanctuary, offering a sauna and natural spring-fed pool. We didn't use either of these but it was so beautiful and peaceful just being there. And a short walk down to the river. The whole area is really well maintained by a team of people. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Kerikeri.
The road to get to it is in need of a bit of attention, but it was drivable in our hired outlander.
Lovely grounds, quiet, feels like you're in the middle of nowhere yet Kerikeri center is a short drive (you need a car - v long driveway!)
The property is down a long drive and is very peaceful.
The long driveway was difficult to walk up.
Loved having space between other stayers.Spa was amazing. Pool isn't your regular pool so took some time to get used to but my daughter really enjoyed the pool and the animals.
It was all good
Very family friendly, close to everything but also tucked away from the busy town
The dog on the property scared my daughter
The serenity and being central
Not having an oven or a working swimming pool
A lovely spacious cottage set in beautiful, parklike grounds. The grandchildren enjoyed being able to feed the very tame chickens and ducks and finishing the day with a soak in the spare pool.A great location very close to town and close to the Bay of Islands attractions.Would definitely recommend.
Brad the host graciously took his time to show me the property, get the TV working for me and when I left picked me a bag of oranges, lemons and limes from his orchard, which I was thrilled about. The bird life and geese, ducks and chickens around the pond were enchanting.
An amazing kitchen & general space. This place has added things to use potentially that a much more expensive place would do. Very quiet
Nothing at all. Perhaps the empty old driveway to the resort from the main road
It I could rate this above 10 I would. First we were stunned by the room. It was NOT your cookie cutter hotel room. It was inviting, understated sexy, very comfortable, very private, each room unique and very tasteful. The location was secluded. Quiet. A secret retreat at the edge of town. I was a returning resident and needed help with the transition. That is when management kicked into high gear. Not just well done ... which it was ... the help then offered was above and beyond. I liked it so much I wanted to stay ... somehow ... permanently. Sadly for me, not possible.
Quiet location but still very close to the town center. Lovely setting with the lake, ducks, native birds and beautifully kept trees and gardens.
Amazing value for money. The apartment had a full kitchen, and was very clean and tidy. Very nice decor for a motel unit.
Accommodation was so quite, and private, but close to everything, having a Spa at night was a treat. Super king bed was Devine.
Our one bedroom cottage was a little tired with a latch in bathroom window broken, dishwasher didn't work.
Avalon Resort is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. We spent three nights there, and it’s beautifully located in a scenic reserve, just a few minutes from the town center. Although we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the natural pool, we thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna. The owner was friendly and very helpful. I’d rate Avalon a solid 10 out of 10.
Peaceful, lovely facilities
No oven in the cottage, only a hob. Lots of mosquitos which is no fault of the resort. The sign is directly behind the Indian curry place, so overshot the driveway.
We really enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi and the fresh water pool; the sauna was good too. Useful to have an outdoor bbq and pizza oven.
Beautiful studio apartment! Gorgeous landscape! Great facilities, comfy bed!
