Beautiful place worked very well for our group of four to visit the glaciers first thing in morning

Beautiful stairs however, slippery

We LOVED our stay at Kahere Retreat! My sister and I stayed here for the night after walking the Copland Track, my only regret is not booking another night! The room we stayed in was so cosy and peaceful and the sauna and spa facilities were such a treat after our long walk over the two days prior. I'd love to come back and spend a bit longer.

MAGICAL. Clearly so much thought was put into the organization and construction of each little retreat house. As a family of four, there was space enough for us to be together yet then have time alone. Sitting in a hot tub surrounded by NZ trees and ferns and singing Tui Birds, was amazing! The sauna also was such a treat! The solid outside dining table was equipped with an outdoor heater and plenty of hooks to hang drying clothes. The stairs going up to the bedrooms had traction strips applied to each step that increased one’s confidence. The view from our porch was filled with a peaceful field and distant trees!

The hot tub, sauna and view were our favorites.

I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with mobility issues - the stairs would be tricky.

Location and chalet are wonderful. Very peaceful and quiet. Just a few minutes from the town center. Staff is very friendly, especially Frankie.

The stairs are a little hard to traverse in the middle of the night but that's only a minor issue for us.

This unique property is stunning and pictures don't really do it justice. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The stars at night were a highlight and the light shining through the windows in the morning felt magical. The property has a rustic look but is very well crafted and includes all of the amenities you would need to be perfectly comfortable for a longer stay.

It was an amazing stay! Lovely location, quiet so that you hear all birds around. Beautiful Mountain Views right from your property or from the hot tub. Fully stocked kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Great shower. Cozy interior. Beautiful grounds with flowers and a little farm. It was fantastic!!

Everything was wonderful here. We transferred from a motel that wasn't quite suiting our needs and were so happy to find this magical place. It was an absolute treat to meet Frankie, the sweet dog who lives on the property.

I always prefer standard size refrigerators but we were able to deal with the smaller size.

Stunning location with amazing views toward the glacier. Very quaint, exceptionally built chalet with a great bathroom. Super clean and warm.

The stairway was a little on the steep and narrow side.

Beautiful spot just outside Franz Josef. Peaceful. Accommodation made by the owners themselves is lovely, no TV is a welcome break.

Comfy, great atmosphere and hosts were friendly and accommodating. Frankie the dog was super cute.

We were surprisingly warm and toasty all night in our little cabin. It was great to be away from town in nature.

Nothing I didn’t like but the steep stairs may be a consideration for some.

No TV! Was nice to have a break from the TV anyway.

The unit and grounds are beautiful. The hot tob and sauna are divine. View is gorgeous. the location is convenient to Franz Josef. The cabin is filled with arty, beautiful touches -the bathroom is spectacular and each cabin has unique, handcrafted windows. The kitchen was well-stocked and the tea selection was excellent.

It was difficult to get into our unit because the doorknob was defective. The host said he would fix it the next day, but did not. The stairs to the second floor are very steep and are difficult to negotiate in the middle of the night, even worse with a suitcase. There were no closets or dressers and no space in the tiny bedroom for suitcases. We used the second bedroom for our clothing and luggage, but that wouldn't work if traveling with kids.

Lovely cottage. It did have stairs to the bedrooms. The living are was smallish but hey it was a cottage.

A clothes washing facility would add greatly

Loved the interior and bathroom. Also the spa and sauna were beautiful - amazing star gazing views from the spa!

Everything, These are handmade beautiful chalets. The timber work is amazing. Its just a peaceful beautiful place, great gardens. Great kitchen.
