    Pros +

    • Fendly welcoming staff
    • Location Grounds
    • Were given a well located studio room 107 with access to an outside patio. The superking bed was comfortable and we slept well. Also utilised the spa bath in the room, when we werent at the pools, as weather was cold despite it being mid January. We parked our car for free, and walked everywhere as the location of Edit is super central to shops , walking tracks and of course, the pools.

    Cons -

    • The Edit was perfectly fine for the 2 nights we were there, however room 107's carpet was stained and could do with replacing to freshen the room. Would have been good to have a couple plates and a knife in the room for fruit or snacks. The Hotel itself feels a bit tired and dark, but would come up beautifully with some fresh lighter coloured paint and decor.- perhaps remnants of when it was the Heritage. It is a great old building so deserves a lift. The gardens are beautiful. It would have been great to be able to use the outdoor pool and spa, even in the rain but it was locked and didnt look like it was ready for use.
    • transporting bags upstairs via the staircase would not suit everyone
    • There was honestly nothing we didn’t like — everything met or exceeded our expectations.

We had an upstairs room with an adjoining lounge which was great, very quiet being the end room. Bed was very comfortable. Location is great, being in the middle of the town.

transporting bags upstairs via the staircase would not suit everyone

The property was right in the heart of the city, making it super convenient and close to everything – shops, restaurants, and local attractions were all within walking distance. It’s a beautiful heritage building with so much character – we really loved the charm and atmosphere it offered.

There was honestly nothing we didn’t like — everything met or exceeded our expectations.

    Good central location.

The shower didn't have enough water pressure but was good enough for the one night we were staying

    7SarahPosted on: 1-19-2026

It was a nice hotel, a little dated but I didn't mind that. The decor could be updated a bit - the carpet in the halls was a bit old looking. But the prices of the stay was good.

The location, the grounds and the history of the Lodge itself

The food at the restaurant seems to focus more on quantity than cuisine - different from what we experienced forty years ago.

    Great location, bed was comfortable.

Restaurant & Bar shut by 6pm...maybe earlier and only open from 4pm

The location was great. Comfortable room with a nice view into the village.

    5DanielPosted on: 12-15-2025

Location was central, grounds were nice.

No air conditioning, power went out and room was very hot and had to shower in the dark. No apology and I left first thing in the morning as I needed the room to work and they said power would be back on until late afternoon. I couldnt work as there was no power to work online or no lights.

    Only the location

Creeky floors. Noises on the roof all night. Old facilities.

    8HelenPosted on: 12-4-2025

room was very large two very comfortable Q/S beds lovely garden

8 girls travelling together we pre ordered a platter from 4 Square (highly recommend) but were told we could only eat in our rooms - we had been hoping to sit outside in the grounds as it was a lovely afternoon

    7PamelaPosted on: 11-24-2025

Convenient and best choice in town for overnight stay

Noisy in snug rooms with loud staff next to reception at night. Bed far too soft. Heated towel rail didn’t work. Nowhere to eat a proper dinner on a Monday night. Lounge in hotel rather depressing. Garden needs a good weed and some TLC. Wouldn’t stay again and no way can you label this a luxury hotel!!!

    Needs updating

    8TraceyPosted on: 10-6-2025

Great location and staff were very good. Room was comfortable. Gardens and grounds were beautiful.

Room was clean but some stains on the carpet. No lift to the second floor made it difficult with luggage.

    8NikkiPosted on: 10-2-2025

We arrived and it was snowing! It was magical. We were early for check in but Lena let myself and the children use the facilities and car park. We walked to the hot pools and then received a text to say our room was ready. Great service. Our dinner was absolutely beautiful, the pasta was fresh and cooked to perfection! I would return just for the meal! Grounds were great and the kids loved the tennis court.

With the new ownership there is work in progress but overall great. Would recommend.
