Pros +
- Great front desk service, garage parking , good location and easy to access, nice roof top bar, beautiful views from hotel
- Adults only, and very close to the port if you took a ferry there from Tenerife
- I really enjoyed our one week stay in this hotel. The area is particularly beautiful and quiet, perfect for relaxation. Both breakfast and dinner was good, especially considering the size of the hotel. The pool area is nice, and in October it wasn't crowded. The views were amazing from both the room and the pool area. The last two days of our stay it was very windy so we drove into the Agaete Valley (very beautiful) and to the south side of the island to avoid the relentless blowing of the wind.
Cons -
- Unfortunately the weather was terrible during our stay. Cold , rainy and windy. Not much to do but look out your window at the gorgeous view if you have a sea view room.
- There was a lot of mold on the ceiling in the shower, which wasn’t nice at all and the parking was not free (10€/day)
- The bathroom in our room was unfortunately kind of dirty and could have used some renovation.

Good variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We weren’t bored at all as we always had good choice. And the food was delicious. The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The location is very nice, close to the ocean and you can see Teide volcano from the hotel. Great terrace for sunsets, big area near the swimming pool.

The really friendly stuff and the location.
The bathroom in our room was unfortunately kind of dirty and could have used some renovation.
Great location for hiking with fantastic scenery, although think this is a windy part of the island! Staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel buffet was varied and plentiful. Pool area was clean with plenty of sun loungers. Bed was large and comfortable with crisp sheets. Towels were changed frequently.
Rooms were quite sparsely furnished and dark with small balconies which due to the orientation of the hotel did not get much sun in the afternoon. The bathroom was a bit tired with a toilet door which did not close properly and the shower drain had an unpleasant smell. Very little storage for clothes and also no bottled water for the room apart from 2 small complimentary bottles on the first night.
Staff were greatFacilities were greatThe view was wonderful Gym has good and varied equipment Staff recommended and book our restaurant Staff had great English
Pool too coldRoom smelt of toilet and had dampBlankets on sky bar would have been a nice addition Too many flies in gym and spa area
Perfect location for quiet Spring time holiday
The Room and Balcony appeared uncleaned and we had to get it cleaned the next morning. We were offered 2 singles beds even though we were a couple, making a very uncomfortable first night sleep - had to get hotel to use a double mattress topper to convert this into a double bed. Kitchen staff wouldn’t let use the microwave for takeaway brought from the night out before. Breakfast could be better
We enjoyed our week here very much. The staff were exceptional. Not a miserable face in sight!! Would recommend but we did get bored with the food which was disappointing.
The food wasn't to our taste. My husband thought there was one sauce which was used for every dish. Don't know if that is the case. I am a very fussy eater as I have gotten older so perhaps that's why I didn't particularly like the food and hated to leave so much of it.
Breakfast was top notch. The hotel is beautifully located with opportunities for good walks along the seafront and around, in the city in general. The hotel has nice staff in the restaurant, good chefs, waiters, cleaning staff and in the reception.
2 nights of noise from a movie company on the roof above our room weighed us up. It was not announced. The acoustics in the hotel restaurant have a great potential for improvement. With tiles on the floor and brick walls, the sound of activities and music does not help the noise in people's ears. Wool mats would help on walls or ceilings. The same disturbing music was played in the restaurant every day until the service and the music did not help the acoustics.
Helpful reception staff. Also met a lovely cleaning lady who we chatted with about her time in Scotland! Excellent large room with small balcony and although “no view” it was open enough, looking across to other rooms. Great bathroom and shower. Very good swimming pool area. The pool was heated but still cool which was fine for swimming. There is a small, warmer Jacuzzi. Easy access (less than 5 mins) down to natural rock pools which were good.Dining experience was mixed. Breakfast was a buffet with all sorts of options and was great (freshly cooked omelette available). Staff were generally helpful and friendly. Evening meal buffet: a few dishes were reasonable to good and drinks reasonably priced but the rest goes in the section below! The hotel is in a good location to visit the local port and town and surrounding areas. We went to a vineyard/coffee growers which was worth a visit
Evening meal buffet had quite a few poor dishes (I twice tried fish and regretted it). Don’t go too late as quality drops with time. Some staff were very helpful and friendly, but rushed off their feet and so hard to get served drinks. Management needs to assess how busy it will be and staff accordingly. Red wine served by the glass is from an ice bucket - bizarre! One night I asked for room temperature and a very helpful waiter (he was brilliant throughout our stay) found a bottle for me. The next night a waitress told me I could only have freezing cold – poor customer service. It would be helpful to have an information book about the hotel in the room, to explain things like how to get towels for the pool and how the buffet worked. I was told there was an app but it was useless and just an advert for the chain. €10 for overnight parking is a bit much, but found on street after the first night.
The location, the staff
The restaurant’s menu is limited. Breakfast was very good and I haven’t tried the buffet so maybe I missed something good there.
Location; staff and parking available. Lovely terrace bar too. Pool was lovely.
Some items at breakfast were a bit cold. Spa not the best I’ve been to, but still enjoyable.
It’s very nice and quiet hotel with a nice pool. A few steps and you are down by beach with natural pool. From there you can also make a nice walk along the beach to the village with some restaurants.Breakfast and dinner are excellent with much variety of food.
We didn’t like toilet door creaking, and toilet place has glass wall, and when you visit it in the night, the whole place is lightened.
Really comfortable room, clean. Nice pool and outlook. Breakfast really good quality and selection
Bit lacking in atmosphere in the evenings in inside bar area (rooftop bar closed due weather). Would be improved by background music and more enthusiastic service. Also felt bar food quality poor.
Breakfast was very good. Many choices
Parking was paid and a bit over priced
My partner and I had an amazing three-night stay at Occidental Roca Negra – Adults Only. The hotel is tucked into the cliffs, so the ocean views from our private terrace were stunning. The pool was perfect for lounging, and the spa was a great way to unwind. We loved the food, especially the rooftop restaurant with its awesome views. Plus, it’s super close to natural pools and beaches. The staff was welcoming and made everything easy. If you're looking for a chill, romantic getaway, this place is a winner!
Nothing really
Very nice place to stay. Good and comfortable beds. Cyclist friendly. Nice shower and bathroom equipment. Super cozy roof top bar. Perfect to see the sunset. Very nice swimming pool.
Everything was very nice but this is a pity that couldn't drink morning coffee on the roof top bar taken from the breakfast...
Passable
Being booked in probably the only (and stinking on top of that) room without sea view while the websites states that all rooms have it, is disgraceful. Luckily I was able to switch rooms a day later. But what a very wrong first impression… shame
Breakfast excellent, pool lovely, but windy alot of the time. Room lovely. Easy location for walking down the hill to town. A lovely hotel, nice and quiet mostly.
Balcony not much use as it was always in shade and too cold to sit on. Thought if it was really a green hotel there should be water dispensers available all the time to cut down on plastic bottle use.
