This hotel was fantastic!! A very unexpected find as we were not even planning on spending a night in Castelo Branco. I truly wish we had had more time here. Check in was fast and efficient, the staff was friendly and had some wonderful suggestions. My room was spacious. I enjoyed the balcony as well. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. Wish I would have had more time to enjoy the spa and some of the other features of the hotel - but we were just driving through. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever in the area - and I will look into the other Melia hotels.
Excellent staff and very good facilities. Loved the breakfast too

Hotel position offers nice views. Good size roomComfortable beds.
All amenities are dated and not very clean, the coffee maker malfunctioned, the safe box did not work , there was no body lotion in the bottle , balcony door could not be locked and mostly, staff was not interested to provide information or to make guests feel welcome .
Stunning view of the city, well equipped hotel with soa, pool, and dining.
Would have liked to purchase a pool towel, rope, etc. but they were not for sell.
Great room view, super comfortable, super friendly and welcoming stuff. The breakfast was really great with a lot of variety and quality with local food.
The pool was a bit on the dirty side. Not enough shade / umbrellas on the pool area for so many people. The pool bar was a nightmare to enjoy with only one single person taking care of the clients. Definitely they should give more attention the pool area, especially on a 40 degree day.
Everything wonderful about this hotel! Location, friendly staff, good food! Bonus easy parking!
It took a long time to check-in, only one person at the desk.
Food was really nice, especially the buffet in the restaurant in the evening it was nice quality for €25 per person.Bedroom was comfortable.Nice views.
Sadly facilities were not up to scratch at all. The outdoor pool was too cold, colder than the English sea it took your breath away! The indoor pool was under maintenance for half of our stay and we didn't want to have to pay for the mandatory shower caps to use it for a couple hours. The steam room was mouldy and smelly, you could see the black mould in the grout of the tiles and it looked dirty so I didn't want to sit down. Had to ask the staff to turn on the sauna and steam room and the steam covered the smell a bit but a bit gross to breathe in the air when I had seen all the mould in there already. Sauna was still cold so couldn't use that either. The steam room in particular needs a complete overhaul. Perhaps reduce the time people can access the spa and steam room so that they don't have to sit and wait for 20 mins for them to warm up.. needs some music and some essential oils adding! Then there was also no space for massages, we asked at reception how to book and were sent downstairs but by the time we had got downstairs someone had booked the last slot with reception with the person who just sent us downstairs.. So all we could enjoy was the bedroom, food and views. Not the spa/pool facilities which were the main reason for booking. Also there was building work going on at the hotel so there was drilling / banging noise all the time too! I can see why they need to do maintenance but seems a crazy time of year to do it, it's summer holidays and thousands of people are travelling through castelo branco for boom festival so this is a moment to get repeat visitors who would come back every other summer to relax after the festival! Unfortunately we won't be coming back as it was no more than a bedroom and a restaurant for €175 (plus food on top) so it was completely overpriced and quite disappointing.
Lovely full service resort with a view of the town below. Excellent helpful staff. Both indoor and outdoor pools. We had the cataplana for 2 people at the restaurant for dinner and it was excellent with enough for 4. Especially in the heat of summer it was a great place to relax.
Unfortunately for us, our friend with a car was unable to come at the last minute. We walked to town in the morning and took a taxi or Uber back in the afternoon after sightseeing. It would have been a long hot walk otherwise.
Room had an excellent view of the valley below. At the top near the castle, it was a short walk and then down hill to the gardens. Very happy with the location.
The air conditioner was not keeping the room cool. Sleeping was very difficult (with the windows open or closed). It was a very hot day, yet, for the price of the room, you would hope to be able to fully control the room temperature.
Very nice location overlooking the city -- close to sights and great dinning. The staff were friendly and helpful (I had accidently booked the wrong room and they took care of it without a problem). The breakfast buffet food was really good -- lots of variety. There was plenty of on-site parking. The room, beds and bedding were nice. The pools were nice too!
I think this nice modern hotel caters to bus tour groups -- so the buffet breakfast can be loud and busy, depending on your timing. The hotel also seems a little understaffed. We got drink coupons upon check-in, but waited (that night) for fifteen minutes for someone to appear to provide the drinks -- and when they didn't decided we didn't really need the drinks anyway.
We loved everything about our stay .. warm welcome, lovely room with an amazing city view, great shower, comfortable bed & great breakfast .. thank you for making Castelo Branco so memorable for us during our trip to Portugal ?
Nothing at all
We liked everything about our stay, the room, the very big and comfortable bed and pillows,´the coffee and tea possibilities in the room, the welcome drink, the sauna, the swimming pool, the bubble bath, the excellent breakfast,.... would definitely recommend!
We really liked the staff, they upgraded our room for free to one with a city view (which was absolutely stunning!). The beds were comfortable. The only downside was that the selection of dishes wasn’t very extensive, but I believe the quality of the food is one of the best in the city.
Location, view, jacuzzi and pool, Dinner, lounge, room with a balcony
Location, breakfast, swimming pool.
The air conditioning in the room was so loud we couldn’t sleep with it on and it was very hot. The mattress was very hard for my taste
Great location on hill top with view towards the city. Good facilities with spa included in price.Excellent breakfast, great dinner buffet as well.
There was no option to add consumptions to your room account, all extra services had to be paid with card on site like bar, reastaurant, etcTowels for spa require a deposit at the reception.
The breakfast was lovely every morning and it goes on until 10:30 which is great If you want a lie in. The city itself is not too large so everything is walkable. Also the views from the hotel are fantastic.
Nothing!
