    Pros +

    • La ubicaci¿n esta muy cerca del centro de San Jose, buena relaci¿n calidad precio
    • Nice staff. Great breakfasts included. Great Casados lunch buffet. Good location. Reasonable prices for what you get. Clean.
    • The room was very clean and posh. Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The desk attendant even spoke English fluently, which was great when trying to decide where to get dinner besides the nice restaurant/bar inside the hotel.

    Cons -

    • no se cuenta con llave de la puerta principal y se debe esperar a que alguien abra, si no hay nadie en recepcion no sera posible entrar
    • Parties and conversation in the bar are loud and LATE!!! Hard to sleep. My Room had no windows and needed paint. The tv gets no English stations. Toilet stalls are TINY! Showers were good but dangerous. Very slippery and no shower mats!
    • The front door stuck a little, which was a little confusing because we weren't quite sure they were still open as late as we came in. However, an attendant was quick to help us.

    Location

Rooms face out to street. Traffic sounds kept me awake.

Beautiful old building. All but 1 staff member extremely pleasant and courteous. Great bar with good value. Excellent food. Great location and very secure. My reservation was

My reservation for the 1st night got screwed up and they sent me to a much less elegant hotel. This was disappointing and very stressful as I'd just gotten in from my international flight. However, they more than made up for this mess-up

Good location, close to lots of attractions and bus stations. Had a reasonable breakfast, room is large and spacious, AC works fine. Noise is also not bad given you close the window. Hotel staff are really friendly and watched my bag for a few ours after checkout.

Facilities are really old, especially with showers. No shampoo provided, only a piece of soap. Room is also a bit dark. Breakfast starts at 8 which is a bit late for travelers.

Lovely period features and ok breakfast. Hot showers

A little pricey for the area.

    8JulianPosted on: 4-26-2025

Modest hotel, clean and very friendly staff.

    5CarynPosted on: 3-17-2025

The staff were friendly on arrival, the room was large.

The shower didn’t spray and just dribbled down the wall, the cistern on the toilet was cracked and the tap in the sink sprayed everywhere. We were not provided with any towels. There was a cockroach in the room and parts of the floorboards were rotten. There wasn’t much around our location and even a 20 minute walk into town didn’t give us many options for going out. We left too early for breakfast so cannot comment on that.

Breakfast was great with pancakes and fresh fruit. The atmosphere, price and food offered were perfect. The staff went overboard to make your stay good. Comfortable sofa and charging plugs

Helpful staff, good breakfast, lovely old house, comfortable bed.

    8PatrickPosted on: 1-16-2025

The check in staff stayed open late as my transport arrived late

There is only 1 shower/bathroom that everyone shares and someone decided to take a shower for over 30 minutes blocking other people from using the facilities

Location was in a pretty safe area with lots of food options around, close to bus terminal, nice staff

The style of the building was attractive.

Many thing need attention. I did not get the room I booked. TV didnt work. Got sick from eating food in resturant.

It was simple and had most things I needed.

There were rarely staff on reception. I got locked out a couple of times and had to get a guest to let me in. I also let in some guests. Very loud road next to rooms

    1MouradPosted on: 3-10-2024

The place was close to everything you could see in a day or 2 in san jose. Staff were nice and trying their best to help.

Everything else is bad. The place is not the same as I the pictures. Not clean. Chairs and beds covered in dirt. Sinks full of dirt. Most of the taps and showers are broken. My room had air conditioning but it was the only one not working. I have a seven month old baby and we all suffered in the heat. The mattresses cannot be used by a human being to sleep on. Dirty, stains everywhere and hard like rocks. This place is to avoid if you have another choice.

The room was clean and quiet. The beds are in great shape, comfortable. Bradley speaks great english and was very helpful with everything we asked for and needed.

Our room had two showers. Only one had hot water.

    7DraganaPosted on: 1-31-2024

Nice room in a beautiful old building. My room and bathroom were very spacious and well equipped. Staff was very nice and shared helpful tips when I asked.Location is good, only couple of minutes from the pedestrian area.

Room was very noisy, you could hear all the sounds from the street. I didn't like the towels. Hand towel wasn't cotton, terrible to touch and not absorbing the moisture. And the big towel was cotton but smelled moldy. Big closet but no hangers. It's not 24hr reception.

The receptionist was extremely kind! The interior of Casa Colon looks quite beautiful! The room and bathroom were spacious and clean! The served breakfast was also a nice surprise!
