    Pros +

    • The beautiful historic charm of the hotel
    • A hotel straight out of a better time! Gorgeous surroundings everywhere you turned. No words can convey the atmosphere of 'this enchanting place.
    • The hotel is located 2 min walk from the central Cathedral, in the middle of the old town Puebla. The hotel is situated in a 18th-century building, with a wonderful sense of history the moment you enter it. The ceilings are tall, the walls are ancient, the decor is beautiful. The staff is very friendly. The place is very clean and well maintained.

    Cons -

    • I would like to have a better shower. I understand that it is not hotel-related and a widespread thing in Mexico (I traveled enough in Mexico to encounter it pretty much everywhere). The shower-head was delivering more of a spray rather than a stream of water. It took forever - literally close to 10 min - to warm the water from the hot-water nozzle, so we had to turn water and go do something else for a while, to be able to take a hot shower. But it's not that big of a deal, as long as you expect this kind of issue.
    • the bathroom was in poor repair, particularly leaky shower door which caused water to flood the floor into an open drain in front of the sink. Soap dish in shower was not screwed to wall properly. The hair dryer did not work. Towels were very worn. lamp beside bed did not work properly because of a broken cord, which was dangerous - the lamp was replaced however.
    • the bed was too high

We loved how George set us up again. Made a phone call called him. Moved our suitcase and just once again made our time there amazing we have no consideration to return and go some place else .

This is the dog room and I can’t say I did not like it. Gorge. He got as a room again. This room is not often booked and water is always cold and some electronics aren’t kept up to date. The reason Why they don’t do much maintenance is because, there is an occupant in that room no longer from the living. She is a nice spirits who once lived when the hotel was still a house. She acts like is is her house and welcomes you. She just moves and makes notices in the room. But she is just trying for you to appreciate her and her hospitality. But even then I can’t cat we did not like the room or were unhappy

I sought out this hotel for the reviews of comfortable beds. Two other hotels I tried in Puebla had very hard beds. I slept very well here in two different rooms. It was warm, but they gave us a fan. The fan was loud but I sleep with swimmer’s earplugs, and the sound did not bother my husband. We had immediate hot water and great water pressure in the king room with balcony. The water pressure was not as strong, and the hot water took longer in the Moroccan room. But it’s an old building, so if you want to be in the historic center at this price, this is normal. There was a coffee maker and bottled water in the rooms. We loved it, and will book here again, but not in May or in summer if rainy season is late because even a fan would not be enough.

Mexican buildings don’t usually have screens on the windows, but if we could open windows and keep mosquitoes out, we could bring in cooler air with the fan. Would love a mini-fridge in the rooms.

But it’s an old building, so if you want to be in the historic center at this price, this is normal. These buildings can only be renovated to a certain extent. We absolutely loved it and will book here again. I do wish they had a fridge in the rooms. But they did have complimentary coffee and water.

I would not be able to stay here in May because there is no air conditioning. However, last May I chose a hotel in Centro Historico with air conditioning, and there was mold in it because of the moisture in these old buildings, so I had to move to a different hotel that had an awful bed.

Beautiful rooms! Lovely to have a balcony. Very comfortable bed. Showers and hot water worked great. Beautiful tiled floor and painted ceiling! Loved this room. A great stay and great location - thank you.

Was hot at night - could have done with a fan! Was noisy Friday evening but the weekend was fine! Slept well.

Absolutely loved this 200 plus year old hotel. Big rooms well decorated. Very close to Zocalo. Clean and friendly

Little noise from street when windows open

A real XVIII century building with high ceilings and old furniture. Perfect location, just 2 minutes from the city centre. 24-hour car park service just 100 meters from the hotel.

Rooms are not isolated, they are paired via a closed door, so great audibility bothers a lot -- you hear everything what happens in the neighbour room. Hair dryer in the bathroom did not work, I had to ask for another one. Bulbs were burned out in the hallway, I asked to replace. Despite the stated, no socket near the bed, but electric extension cord was luckily found in a nightstand.

I loved how close it was to the Zocalo and the room was kept very clean, and the staff was very friendly

    No air conditioning or fan.

The location, the historic building and decorations. It's a very interesting place historically and architectonically. The location in the historic center is unbeatable.

Some creaking floors and less than ideal bathroom doors are to be expected from such a place. But nothing that i would consider a dealbreaker.

Everything except the wifi was great! The Wifi was terrible! Lol.

The wifi. And honestly because the orginal building is so beautiful, the newer parts (the shower, the toilet. Etc) looked very cheap next to a 300 year old bldg.

    9geonerdPosted on: 12-16-2024

The 2-bedroom unit was on the corner with balconies overlooking the street, but noise at night was not a problem. The beds were comfortable and the facilities beautiful. Please remember the building is very old, but the hotel has done a great job keeping the old but adding modern niceties, like hot water. We had a small problem with the bathroom drain which the staff fixed while we were out for the day.

If you get the 2 bedroom, be aware that the layout is a little inconvenient. You open the door to the 1st room and walk through that to the 2nd bedroom where the bathroom is also accessed. There isn't a separate bathroom access from bedroom 1. But the 2 separate rooms were perfect for friends traveling together.

    Location

Old structure. It is difficult to keep it cleaned. But bathroom is smelly and water also. In the late evening hot water was missing.

    9KCPosted on: 11-21-2024

This is a beautiful historic building where every room has a different decor, including art objects, elaborately carved furniture, chandeliers. Our room was huge with a big bathroom and a small terrace overlooking the street. The decor included objects from India, paintings, etc. that were very interesting and unusual in a hotel. When we asked for extra pillows and a fan, they came almost immediately. The location was great, just one block from the zocalo, actually it was partly in the center.

The street was quite noisy with party goers, cleaning trucks, and the police vehicle making very annoying beeps for no apparent reason. Because the rooms are not air-conditioned, it was difficult to keep, the terrace door closed and still be comfortable. But it was still fun to stay in such a unit building.

Great room in an old casona with lots of charm, incredibly high ceilings, helpful staff and amazing location

Balcony rooms were great but a bit noisy if you leave the doors/windows open to cool off; interior rooms quite hot and windows only opened to courtyard where others can see in. Recommend using warm white for light bulbs to avoid office-type lighting. Could use some maintenance TLC but great value regardless
