Pros +

  • Lots of character, great location
  • Location
  • Liked how comfortable and clean it was. Location was great. I'm a solo traveler so I like the tv on to keep me company. The tv in this room was hard to turn on. Batteries in the controller were good. The tv was very hard to actually turn on. The side switch power control only worked once out of every 50 tries. Great place. Don't be shy to let them know if you need the tv on.

Cons -

  • Rooms are dark; no exterior windows. But that's common for hotels in buildings this old.
  • Wi-Fi was horrible. You could hear people making lots of noise when staff was moving tables or chairs at night. We couldn't rest at night because that kept waking us up.
  • There was a plumbing problem when we checked into our room which was fixed quickly, we prefer a bigger bed but was comfy enough.

Central Puebla is full of sumptuous 17th and 18th century mansions built around double courtyards. In this one, the original features are preserved, and very atmospheric. There is even an old portrait of statesman Juan de Palafox on the wall - the bishop who donated the wonderful Palafoxiana library to the city. Location in the Centro Historico offers easy access to great bars, cafes and local sights and monuments including the superb Museo Amparo. Despite the central location, our rooms were quiet and peaceful. Facilities were good (the showers are hot morning and evening, tepid during the day). Staff were helpful.

Classic atmosphere, spacious room, wonderful location around the corner of Zocalo.

There was a plumbing problem when we checked into our room which was fixed quickly, we prefer a bigger bed but was comfy enough.

The history and the location.

There was no internet, there was no hot water (even though the front desk said they had both) and we had no water at all until 11:00am the day we were flying home. They suggested we take showers at another hotel.

Location excellent, breakfast delicious, mezcal bar awesome, staff super friendly and helpful. Rooms were large and clean and the interior courtyard is beautiful. Excellent value for money

A tad noisy at night, but it was independence day weekend!

Comfortable beds, traditional architectural structure, perfect location, quiet.

No ventilation in the rooms, the elevator was broken and nobody helped us take our luggage up the stairs, a tat of “old tackiness” in the style of the common areas.

It's a beautiful hotel in an old building. It has been nicely converted. The room was a good size and even had a wine cooler in it, although I'm not sure that it worked. The coffee maker in the room was a nice touch. Most of the staff were very helpful. The roof bar was a nice place to send time at night with great views over the city.

The hot water situation was challenging. We had to ask 2 members of staff to get it turned on, and then the system broke down the next day and had to be fixed by another member of staff. The lift ( which appeared antique) broke down on the evening of the first day and was repaired after we left.It seems that a bit more maintenance is required to have the hotel live up to its potential

The location is perfect and it has a great vibe.everything was very clean.

In our room, the windows would not open, and the air felt very stuffy. To get some fresh air we needed to run the air conditioner or open the front door of the room.

This room was very well located in the Zocalo area of Puebla. The breakfast was very good. Although it was an interior room, it did receive outdoor light, so we were able to tell when morning came.

A second chair in the room would have been nice.

Location was great, just off the main zocalo but surprisingly quiet. Large room which was called a suite, that was a stretch in their description.

We were charged an extra 17% at check in even though booking.com said we had a final price. It was impossible to contact customer service so be aware of this large hidden charge. The included breakfast is coffee, cereal and a small fruit plate. The bed had a wooden base that creaked loudly at any movement. We constantly woke each other up. Our suite had no windows for light and the room lighting was bad. The coffeemaker had no sugar or creamer. The shower was difficult to get right. The two chairs were so uncomfortable that they were useless. The pillow are flat and soft. Did i say how bad the lighting was! There was also construction on the ground floor that filled the hotel with toxic fumes.

The location is great. The terraza bar has been a fun place to hang out. Staff has been helpful. Because of these things, this was the 3rd time we’ve stayed here. We liked the staff and the location. We love the terraza.

Lack of cleanliness: The room we were given was only partly clean. The floor under the bathroom door which was standing open, was dirty with long, black hairs and dirt. The sink was terribly stained with something that looked like dirt. It ought to be removed. There was a sewer smell in the room. Noise: The floors, walls are all marble. We could hear voices and conversations into the night. Construction: The hotel is renovating. No one told us of this when we made the reservation.

The building, the staff, service, polite, kind. Close to plenty of attractions, restaurants. I do recommend this lovely hotel. Thanks.

Weak wifi, lift instructions confusing.
