WeBase Kamakura

The cleanliness of the room and facility was above what I expected. The close proximity of the hotel to the beach was also great for a walk. Also enjoyed the Sauna and the communal bath, as it was never crowded in late afternoon after checkout, late evening before going to bed, and early morning before checking out. The breakfast was also delicious and plentiful. I really enjoyed the Galette choices that were offerred.

The only downside was the refurbishment which was going on just outside of the reception. There was a sheet which was blocking the view of the reception, restaurant (which was where breakfast was served), and the communal bath also had a sheet on the windows.

Location, easy-access, comfortable

Large rooms, comfortable beds. Clean communal bathing and spa. Proximity to points of interest and the beach. Complimentary drinks and food in the lounge in the evening was an excellent touch.

Breakfast is fancy but a bit waste of too many food. A formal brunch type is good however maybe a buffet type is more preferred or a breakfast set.

The bathroom has limited space but actually it has room but just wasted by design.The upper windows have no curtain so the morning light is killing me.

Great location just a few mins walk to the beach and to the train station. The onsen was super clean, and the rooms very spacious. The included breakfast was fantastic. The snacks were delicious. We’d go back to Kamakura just to stay here again!

Stylish, free evening time snacks and drinks, location is great.

Surprise charges at check-in time for extra beds (not explained anywhere in writing),air conditioners could not keep up with the humidity and woke up in a muggy room with dangerously slippery floors.

Location is very convenient, just 5 minutes to the beach and about 15 to the train station but another ten minutes walking gets you to center of town. We did not use the trains because walking is nicer.

It was very clean. The welcome lounge was outstanding with snacks and mimosas. It was our 20 wedding anniversary so we had a little champagne. Breakfast was wonderful, it is made to order with plenty of coffee.

Very nice property. We loved the onsens, the proximity to the beach and town, and the wonderful complimentary snacks and adult beverages in the lounge on evenings.

The property is immaculate. They have a lovely light meal in the evening and a breakfast option. The room was bright and large. Most importantly the staff were wonderful and even helped fix a billing error (which was largely on my end) without question. Well done.

Rating WeBase Kamakura is a challenge because it is an odd property with some strengths and weaknesses. I'll start with the strengths. The location is excellent, about a block from the beach and around the corner from the light rail train station. Kamakura is surprisingly rich with cultural opportunities: in addition to the large Buddha there are numerous important temples and shrines. WeBase is modern, comfortable, and very clean. Floral arrangements in the public areas were quite elegant.

The restaurant left something to be desired. Arranged around a hot griddle, it was almost like a Japanese person's view of a fusion Western-Japanese cuisine. There was almost no variety, which got very old with the breakfasts. There was a sense they were doing you a favor by letting you eat there.Service was a very mixed bag. Some staff were very friendly and helpful. Others, not so much. The "respite" room was a nice feature, with free snacks, and drinks (mixed drinks at a modest fee). But the experience was ruined for me by the single rudest service encounter I have had in Japan (where most service people are extremely courteous). In fairness, Japanese rules around such things as footwear can be baffling to visitors.On my first visit I was handed a card with "rules" such as "don't sit too long. don't be loud." Despite the room being basically empty, the server insisted on reading each rule aloud to me in broken English. For shame at showing such contempt for guests, who should be assumed to be well behaved unless proved otherwise.

Beautiful property in a very convenient location- 3 minutes to ocean, 5-10 to major sites, and 15 to train station. It is more impressive in person than the pictures convey. Do not forgo the breakfast- it was incredible!!! And the rooms were spacious and clean and lovely furnishings. The evening happy hour was a pleasant surprise!

The communal bath was absolutely fantastic! the happy hour was so nice and the room was great.

Bed and especially the pillows were the most uncomfortable, felt like newspaper covered in a pillow case, got very little sleep and woke up with a stiff neck.

Honda-San was friendly & helpful. He even managed to arrange for our dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, which was full.The staff were friendly & polite.The breakfast was awesome & generous portions. We had dinner too, we found the food was “Michelin” standard - great job by Chef Nakagawa-san, Chef Udah-san & their team. Room was good size, brightly lighted. Hotel nearby to restaurants, shops & beach.

We had the room with window facing East, the daylight brightened the room by 5am (April 2025) hence we could not sleep in. Some “black-out” curtains or blinds would be great.

Very modern, spacious and clean hotel with great amenities and near the station and the beach. Looks better than the photos I’m glad we chose this hotel

It is very close to the station.

There is no heater in the room and the bed sheet is not thick enough to keep me warm during the night. The room is extremely small and the design of not having lift from the lobby to the room is silly.

The design was very unique, very tasteful and created a whimsical getaway from busting Tokyo life where we came from. Their staff were helpful, warm, with good service and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. In short, they were all delightful down to every last one we interacted with. The beds were comfortable, the communal bathroom was clean, and reminiscent of what we would expect at an onsen. The amenities in the room and in the lounge were great. Overall a wonderful stay where we were continuously pleased with what we encountered during our stay.

Maybe need some studier slippers to wear down to the bath. The slippers were comfy but a little too flimsy to wear outside of the room, which mean we had to wear our sneakers after bathing.

What an amazing place! Location: 2-minute walk to the beach or the nearest small train station. Rooms: Spacious for Japanese standards, very comfy beds, super clean, very warm and beautiful.Breakfast: TOP NOTCH, super tasty, creative, made and presented with love and passion.Communal bath: TOP NOTCH, super clean, very spacious, great water temperature, nice Sauna.Staff: Super friendly and welcoming.

The rooms were comfortable, the amenities were high-quality, and the food was excellent. The staff were also very polite and helpful.
